Re: Australian Tour of South Africa

No offence to Warner but hes dished it out for years and now he just looks like a sook who can't handle it when its dished back. What De Cock said was wrong but Warner cant cry wolf. He is a genuine angry little unit.

Re: Australian Tour of South Africa

Terrific test match cricket last night. Rabada was sensational in that spell plus philander was brilliant all day. Warner was superb as was Bancroft. It's a pity the other crap is being talked about more then the cricket because the cricket so far this series is top notch. Also the pitches have been very good, cricket Australia should take note.

Re: Australian Tour of South Africa

Banning them for life is absurd. What they did was wrong and not something that should be accepted in cricket but a life ban seems crazy. Personally i think if the ICC had of made a stronger stance on previous instances of ball tampering this would not have occurred, the ICC must be stronger in it's stance. Similarly with the Rabada situation though they continue to let things go without repercussions which is disappointing.

CA will make a stand and maybe a ban of 3 to 6 months is reasonable because cheating of any sort is not acceptable and in particular in Australia where everyone is proud of how they play there sport in the right manner. It's funny because if this was pakistan or a subcontinent team the players involved would probably receive a small ban and everyone would move on but because it's Australia its a much bigger deal. However I think that is a credit to the Australian culture and how it is expected to play sport in a fair manner. Previous Australian team's were extremely tough and uncompromising but they played in the right manner. This Australian team has proven not to play in the Australian way for a little bit and this should be a line in the sand type of moment to get Australia back to playing the way it should. As an english fan I disliked the Aussie teams of the last few decades just because they were so good but god you had to respect them for how good they were and how they played the game. This Aussie team come across as an entitled bunch of flogs led by the vice captain Warner.

It is rich for all other countries to be slamming Australia when they have ball tampered previously but Australia should hold itself to a higher standard because it is an incredibly proud sporting country.

Re: Australian Tour of South Africa

Wheels are off alright.

4th test still needs to go ahead. We must see out the series. Regardless the test will be lucky to go 3 days.

That been said guys like Renshaw and Burns would be chomping at the bit to play.

Also if Starc doesnt want to play then give Sayers or Richardson a run.

Warner is clearly done with test cricket.
Despite this drama and the matter in way they have been slected the selectors have at least picked the right replacements. Burns and Renshaw straight into open is a positive move fwiw. Warner was horribly out of form anyway. You can obviously see Handscomb in for Smith, who I reckon slots in five and Marsh moves up to four. Maxwell was the next in line middle order batsman and his selection, while in bizarre circumstances is now quite funny and ironic given they really didn't want to pick him at the start of the Ashes.

It's a terrific oppurtunity for Burns, Renshaw and Handscomb. There honestly isn't much to lose for the aussies now and all the pressure is on SA to finally beat the aussies at home for the first time. Wouldn't be surprised if Starc doesn't play he looked average in the 3rd test and doesn't appear to be healthy. The issue is other then Paine your best bats in the series have been Bancroft and Warner who are the only blokes averaging over 30 in the series. Shaun Marsh & Khawaja are out of form and having horrid series so they will need to stand up. Also Cummins has been amazing with the ball but he's been found out with the bat big time against good bowling, hes only averaging just above 6.

Re: Round 20 - How's the symmetry; how's the serenity!

Cameron got 5 with a terrible record.
Gaff will get 5 down to 4.
Both intentional, high Impact

The AFL of course have themselves to blame. These jumper punches that allow only a fine make it 'ok' for blokes to throw punches and get away with it. If they scrubbed them out completely then people wouldn't throw punches at all which means they wouldn't 'accidentally' hit people high.

He deserves 8 only because the comp needs to stop those stupid 'accidental' punches... but they wont.

He’s getting 6 plus for this. He has king hit a bloke 50 metres away from play. I’m sure Gaff is a decent human being but he’s made a monumental mistake and should pay for it. He’s broken the kids jaw and shattered 4 of his teeth. He deserves 6 as a minimum for this as it is truly a terrible act.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)

Congrats to ironbank on saturday. Terrific to see a bunch of blokes that have been loyal to the club for a long time be rewarded. 17 guys that played junior footy at the club and blokes like muirden and schneider who have been at the club for 25 years makes it incredibly sweet.

Noodles ware was terrific but the best player on the groud was the youngest bloke on the ground, young joshy rosman was sensational all day long. Not bad for a kid in his first senior finals series.

Commiserations to kersbrook who unfortunately could never get going but they had a tremendous year and will no doubt be a big chance again next year. They have been the benchmark of div 2 for over a decade which is a massive credit to them as a club and with the 18s and Bs winning it shows how strong they are as a club.

Re: 2018/19 Australian Summer of cricket

It's sad when these guys get more scrutiny, publicity and hatred from the Australian community for an act that frankly was **** all, while rapists, murders, kiddy fiddlers, criminals, scammers etc. all appear to do get it a lot lighter.

Our priorities in this country are all sorts of messed up.

The bans were far to harsh but they werent banned just for the ball tampering in my opinion. It was a culmination of the poor behavior of the aussies for the prior few years which made CA make a bigger stance to send a message. There constant messages talking about the line and they knew where it was was just utter nonsense. Problem was most of this aussie team actually seems quite quiet and introverted but they tried to make them aggressive like the old school aussie way which doesnt suit them other then Warner.

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

Two superstars of international cricket have retired for south africa, Hashim Amla from all formats and Dale Steyn from test cricket. Hashim was a superstar in his prime and beautiful watch, just an unbelievable player in all formats. His record in tests fell away over the last few years but in his prime he was a class act and one of crickets good guys. Steyn was the best fast bowler of his generation, his ability to bowl fast and swing it was a thing of beauty. His strike rate is one of the best of all time and he did it in all conditions. Hopefully he has some good limited over cricket left in him.

Broad and Woakes have bowled better than Archer.
Archer isnt fit to tie Cummins bootlaces and stats at the end of their careers will prove that to be so

Lol cant wait to look back at this in 10 years. Cummins is obviously a stud and will have a unreal career but at least im genuine enough to realise that. Good win by england really convincing. I know SA are struggling but what impressed me was the batting, sibley and pope scoring hundreds in the last 2 tests against what is still a good bowling line up (SAs batting on the other hand is awful) is awesome. Both lads under 25 showing promise and dom bess also at 22 getting a 5 fa. Don’t like talking about umpires.. but geez I reckon some big calls went either against Port or not in their favour.

However, Richmond showed in that last quarter when it’s tough in the trenches they dig in and find a way.

Pretty good prelim

Was shit both ways I thought
I thought the important ones went against Port and the weird ones went against Richmond.. it’s a shame that the umpires seem to be able to have an influence or presence in these games

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

Great C&B by Santner to win the game for NZ, who become #1 Test team in the world for the first time in their history
A very very good side that all compliment each other very well I’d still back I’d to wipe the floor with them even as bad as we are currently
Agreed. I enjoy watching NZ, especially their bowling attack but they've only really added Kyle Jamieson to the team/squad that lost 3-0 to Australia last summer. He's had a great start to his test career and I'm interested to see how he goes in the future.

NZ can only beat the team/country put in front of them at that point in time but you only have to look back at that 3-0 result against Australia to see where they are really at. Apart from Williamson who is an absolute star their batting is as flawed as ours.

He's obviously a passionate Kiwi but I found it funny that as soon as the match ended Brendon McCullum on commentary was very quick to mention that NZ was now ranked number one yet their number one ranking is only provisional as the rankings will be updated at the end of the series.

Be nice to see the Aussies go to NZ. NZ have a terrific record at home over the past 6 or 7 years, did smash India 2 nil earlier this year.

Root gets to his hundred in his 100th test match without much fuss, his 20th test match hundred and third in a row. He becomes the 9th test cricketer to score a hundred in their 100th test match.
England 2/227
Sibley 83 (250)

Great partnership between these two, the discipline has been impressive. They've clearly targeted old mate Denzel Sundar and left arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem to score most of their run off of.

Superb again by root. Sibley did a tremendous job also, he's far from pretty but we have become a much better side with him in it. Personally reckon we should bat into day 3 if we can, this pitch will be a road till day 4.

A pair for Johnny the mouth

Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk Can't see why he is in the side, terrible batsmen.

And batting at 3? What a joke.

Surely Stokes gets the flick for the next test as well?

England look to be all over the place with selection and team balance. India, like in Australia recently seem to be able to change their team and still settle better than their opposition.

Dropping stokes might be the craziest thing I've heard for a while. Only been our best batter the last 12 to 18 months by the length of the strait. Bairstow has a good record against spin hence he plays in Asia but I tend to agree he's had enough chance by now. We simply lack batting depth and rely heavily on root and stokes, hence why we are a good team but not anything more.

England simply weren't good enough but that pitch was deadset average, root should not be taking 5 for 8 ever. At least that flog ashwin got to pad his inflated home stats again.

Re: T20 World Cup 2021

I didn't expect Australia to win but to put up a better performance than they did. Utterly embarrassing to see fairly average bowlers in Woakes Jordan Livingstone destroy us. Any movement off the pitch and Warner is useless...Maxwell can't bat in the first 10 overs..I think Finch is cooked..Not playing Marsh who was up until the last match our best t20 bat.

I would make changes

Marsh has to come in, if Stoinis isn't bowling he can go out.
Starc is injured/peahearted bring in Richo
Not sure Cummins is a great t20 bowler either, maybe swap with Swepson as a 3rd spinner option
Warner can piss off but no one to replace him either
I am no Agar fan but he probably stays in scoring a run a ball 20 and taking 1 wicket...what a performance

Woakes is an elite white ball bowler.

Re: Australian International Summer (The Ashes) 2021/22

With the Aussies 2-0, I'd like to see Neser given one more game, and rest Starc ahead of the remaining two tests.

Cummins in, Starc out.

I think Harris plays the whole series - if they were going to consider Khawaja for an opening spot, he would've started the series given he was one of the inform bats in the country.

Unfortunately for Hunt and Street there is no red ball cricket at the moment to help push claims, and they're quite young still so cant see them being thrown in the deep end. Would've been good to see England A stick around and play more tour matches against Australia A during the Ashes.

For England you'd think Wood comes in, and I would look at maybe Lawrence as the spinner to spin away from the lefties. Whilst most senior, you'd have to consider Anderson being left out, he just didn't look like his former self in this test.

How Bairstow is watching from the sidelines is beyond me.. and Crawley probably should be added. I'm dropping Pope and Hameed for Bairstow and Crawley

Hard to argue any of those calls Bedge. Good work.

Lawrence is a batter that's a decent back up spinner, similar to root. Bess will come in as the main offie would be my guess. I agree with the batting switches, although if you have seen Bairstow the last few years in tests you would know why he ain't playing, has a huge gaping hole through bat and pad and continuously gets bowled. I'd rather Bess comes in for Woakes then Jimmy, Woakes the bowler is just not good enough in Australia. Wood will come in for Jimmy or Broady, really don't mind either way but Wood just needs to play.

Agreed BB

England in 2021:
Root 1700 runs
Burns 560 runs
Extras 460 runs

And he scored the bulk of those runs against the best attack in the world- India who tore our blokes a new one last season

This is the worst English team I’ve seen. 1 batsman 1 all rounder and 3 bowlers.

Too big a load carried by too few who are fatigued after playing almost 20 tests in 30 months in bio-bubbles.

This English side a shot ducks.

Root reminds me of Border in the mid 80s a single batsman carrying the load for his team

Kudos to him. Fair enough.

I think my point stands though. I wouldn't pick him over any other touring side's top batsman that I can recall, excluding the Bangers and Zimmers of course. Just nicks up playing nothing shots so often.

I think the stats above are more of a reflection on Root's dud teammates.

Him making 1700 runs at 60 on some of the hardest tracks with literally no team mates is incredible. Your saying he's not better then anyone of SA, WI, Sri Lanka or Pakistan's best batsmen at the moment? I get he's not Sachin or Lara but he's much better then any touring batsmen in the world atm bar Williamson and Kohli and I'd argue he's been much better the Kohli the last few years.

Anyways we were awful and hats off to boland on an incredible debut.

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

Ben Stokes in test cricket.

Batting average 35.89 (Matt Renshaw averages 33.47)
Bowling average 32.12 (Simon Katich averaged 30.23)

He's a good cricketer, but his output doesn't match the hype imo.

Stats don't quite him justice to be fair. He's a very selfless team player and he's had to bat to high up due to our lack of quality. In big moments he's usually delivered, same in white ball cricket. He's probably slightly overrated because he's so exhilarating at his best but don't just judge him on his stats as he's a big moment guy.

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

Wonderful innings by a wonderful player. Blokes had to carry this lot for 2 years and he thoroughly deserves to finally win a test match.
