That Under 18s grade seems to be struggling for numbers all over Australia at the moment. I've seen facebook posts from some clubs over in Vic offering free Xbox's to any new kids that sign up to play! Cant totally think of Mt Barker as a one club town because a lot of people live there and play for other nearby clubs but yeah we also 100% shouldnt struggle to fill any grades.
I live in WA now and the league I play in all clubs fill every team except for the U18 grade where only 5 of the 8 clubs have a team and even those who do have a team are borrowing players from the U15s to fill the team. So I don't know if it's just kids those ages would rather be doing other stuff these days but something needs to be done across the board to get them back in to footy I think.
Any idea when the U18 fixture will be out? There will be C Grade this year. Even Kangarilla is putting up a C Grade team for this season. I believe the U18 draw is taking a little while because it is 1 comp with teams from clubs in both divisions so fixturing is a bit trickier
And Lobethal chased it down fairly comfortably for their first A&EH premiership Nairne 10/122 Lobethal 4/123 (37.3 overs)
Minor Premiers curse strikes again Last 4 Minor Premiers havent won the Flag with 3 of them not even making the decider despite the Double chance these days
Premiers
A Grade - Lobethal (3rd) A2 Grade - Woodside (4th) B Grade - Strath (2nd) C Grade - Ashbourne (Minor Premiers) D Grade - Nairne (2nd) Good point about the minor premiers. Good to see 5 different clubs winning across the grades as well.
Definitely love the work that some of the clubs have done (Eg. Bridgewater and Ironbank) combining to get teams on the field is alot better than those kids going elsewhere to play or not even playing at all.

Especially in 40 over games it can be difficult to get everyone involved especially if you have a couple of cricketers who are genuine guns with bat and ball.
Second innings should be about ensuring blokes get an opportunity to be involved and therefore stay playing at your club for longer. Wouldn’t think many sides in pdca don’t have that number 7/8 bat who doesn’t bowl. Second innings are for those blokes. Yeah when I played in Perth if I did crack into the 1st Grade team I would be that player 7/8 non-bowling player. One season I played 4 weeks in a row without batting or bowling and it was a bit disheartening as you a literally just a fielder in that case. Our comp was a mix of half two-dayers and one-dayers but even if you passed the other teams score in the 40 over games you would bat out the overs. This worked well if you had a good captain who would share it around after you've passed the other teams score.
Like has been mentioned Woodside with 7 teams (Some of their poor teams playing home games all over the place including Mt Torrens, Meadows, Milang). Mt Barker 2 teams in B Grade.
A Grade Bremer Callington Hahndorf Lobethal Strathalbyn Nairne Langhorne Creek Macclesfield Woodside
A2 Mount Barker Strathalbyn Hahndorf Wistow Ashbourne Nairne Echunga Woodside
B Grade Woodside x2 Mount Barker x2 Wistow Finniss Langhorne Creek Lobethal Macclesfield Nairne
C Grade Wistow Woodside x2 Nairne Langhorne Creek Echunga Ashbourne Strathalbyn
D Grade Woodside Bremer Callington Lobethal Mount Barker Hahndorf Langhorne Creek Macclesfield
Yeah I don't have an issue with juniors returning to their home Club if their district club has a bye. Problem with the marquee Players is it would probably be the bigger stronger clubs that seem to attract them making their teams even stronger.
Mclaren short in the B’s on Saturday, needing 5 senior colts to fill in. Probably not unusual for some clubs but geez that’s unheard of at Mclaren.
Creeks who were 3rd in the B Grade were forced to use 4 Senior Colts on Saturday at Myponga to fill a side such is the unavailability list predominantly due to injuries. Earlier in the season a dozen players were missing out on a game weekly
Coming to the pointy end of the season at it seems there are a quite a number of clubs battling long injury lists that are sure to impact finals Seems to be a higher than normal amount of people crook at the moment as well.
Great day for us yesterday winning the A2s and Cs. A2s was a tough tight game all day with Nairne setting us 132 to win and we only got it done with 6 balls to spare in a great game. Cs were interrupted by a huge downpour of rain and hail which delayed the game for quite a while before they were able to defend their score of about 160 odd bowling Ashbourne out for about 120.
Hahndorf won B Grade while Nairne took out the D Grade.

Pretty good season this year and the top end of C Grade is a pretty good standard these days. It's been great having Maccy in it this year and they even got a win against Hahndorf last week.
