Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)

Why do you say that Dutchy?

Coming from a very very long way back. And now Ironbank is gone i struggle to see them getting a win unless they’ve signed 5+ decent ones.

More than confident they will win a few games in 2024

I bounced some info I heard last week that Turner from Glenelg is going to Echunga but got nothing.... but was back in the same front bar and talk is the have also signed a former West ruck a huge fella and a player from Goodwood/Goolwa that they said is pretty handy also but it was discussed over a few beers in a hills pub.... beers and snitty was 10/10.

Re: Southern Football League

I have heard another player walking out on M/Vale - Carpenter.... I can only see his playhq stats but seemed to played a fair bit of A grade. Also on the grapevine Shoes are struggling with numbers on the track with a few lads all moving on... On a positive hearing plenty at H-Valley, Cove, Ironbank and Christies that will be on the charge to catch the top 3 but I still feel a fair way to go for these teams to catch Porties, Flaggies and Reynella.

Re: Southern Football League

The mercy rule has been implemented this season, I believe once a side has scored more than 10 goals more than the opponent (behinds not counted) the ball will be taken to the center of the ground the umpire will hand the ball too loosing side who can play untouched to the 50 and have a kick , I could be corrected but something like this.

This applies to 13/15/18 sides, scores will only show a maximum of 10 goal defeat.

Yeah, from what I saw, this was how the rule was being applied. I don't agree with it being used in the U17.5s at all

17.5 is a joke for the rule and a good argument for the 15's not to have it but 13's I think it has a place in the game...

Re: Southern Football League

No one wins flags in June

Won't win them in September with your master coach either

Quite possibly the dumbest display of coaching I've seen at any level in the last quarter on Saturday.
Defending a 4 point lead, with the howling gale now reduced to a light breeze, Jarman plays a loose man in defence.
Flaggies score after a Sproule turnover, loose man remains in defence despite being down by 2 points.
Flaggies score another off a Sproule turnover, loose man remains, despite now being 8 points down.
Porties lose by 7 points
Don't think Fitzy even waited for the siren to finish before he jumped in his car and went home.

Divers, all that money wasted, and still nothing but flat-track bullies...

Re: Southern Football League

Weekends games went as predicted.
Clearly been a long, long, long time since the Cockledivers won at Flagstaff, going by their supporters reactions to every goal. After that game I'm 100% convinced the Vikings will win the flag in an absolute canter, Redden going down with a serious looking hammy late in the game could be costly for Porties, and Paredes finished on the bench with a foot wrapped in ice.

Interesting tidbit I heard from an pretty reliable source on Saturday.

There's a mutiny afoot at Pt Noarlunga, a group of players trying to oust Jarman as coach for next season. Hear there was a confrontation at training last week as well between one of the players and the coach. This, coupled with a few senior players already shopping themselves around for 2026, will make for exciting September viewing!

Old mate Fitzy will be putting the feelers out with a bucket load of cash if this is the case, I predict an ex-Crows player of some sort would be on his radar. I don't know how they could hide the payments if an audit does happen, it would be another mess that Porties have created this year, if they did happen to win but something Jars is used to with creative accountancy and an SFL board that turns a blind eye.

Re: Southern Football League

I have heard that Jarman was up to his neck in it over the Gaza debacle, but the SANFL didn't want it playing out in the media, as he was still on air at Triple M. There were a heap of texts and emails, as there tends to be when you're cooking the books. You can't tell me Sproule goes from the AFL, to the SANFL, then to Porties, in the space of 2 years, for the love of the game...
Porties run the very real risk of sabotaging an excellent juniors program if they keep going down the path of buying senior players, only got to go a bit further down the Onka River to find out how well that pans out...

Hopefully, and it pains me to say this, Valleys keep it up and no-one gets near them this year, and Jars can find another club he can "coach" at.
Or chose to focus on his work career and a less demanding footy schedule, as opposed to the SANFL regime...

Funny how things work out, Spoule becomes a real estate agent at the club's major sponsor who also happens to be the brother in-law of the footy director...amazing.

Re: Southern Football League

Ok, who wins tomorrow Porties v Flaggies... you would think Porties but you just never know with Flaggies. it will be a closer than than I have heard people talk about, Flaggies have created a culture that love this time of year but on paper Porties are a better side. Good luck to both teams tomorrow, picking Porties by 8 points.
