Re: Southern Football League

Rumour mill.

Cove investigating moving to Adelaide Footy League
2022 any truth.

This is very real, wont be long and is will be the South of Sherriff's Rd League
So you guys off as well I take it?
Along with reynella and happy valley.
That represents the current top 3 in the A grade.

Surely any club in their right mind is looking to leave the ravaged SFL competition.
It’s going nowhere and has lost all integrity.
The SAAFL provides divisions for clubs to build success and maintain sustainability.
Clubs like Cove could be winning multiple premierships as early as it first enters.
Clubs like Reynella, Flagstaff Hill and Happy Valley could be challenging Div 1 and 2 in a matter of a couple of seasons.

I’ll give you Flagstaff Hill but to say Reynella and especially Happy Valley could be challenging Div 1 and 2 within a couple of years is massively ambitious. Happy Valley would find it tough getting out of D4 let alone any higher. Playing competitive sides in your bracket each week is a lot different to playing a side at your ability every 2-3 weeks.

Re: Southern Football League

Flaggies foolish to go out of SFL, some good years no doubt but they aint invincible from finals I watched Reynella, Happy Valley not to far off the pace. Morphett Vale v Noarlunga final game Aldinga could have gone either way.

Flaggies have one year left at best to go top after that goodbye, Reynella, Happy Valley, Morphett Vale, Noarlunga build on 2021 watch out 2022. Have heard one of these clubs might be already be looking for a replacement A grade coach after announcing that is no good.

All credit to Reynella strong juniors is where it is at and Reynella certainly have strong juniors, Cove announced some good junior coaches and have some talent coming through good to see.

SA Football League aint as good as it seems, concentrate on SFL.

they beat reynella by over 80 pts & held the emus to 2 goals in the gf...

not sure what finals you were watching

Give FHFC one more year if they are lucky, they aint going to be world beaters forever, down the hill in Div 3 FHFC would get smashed better off staying put SFL. The GAP is closing and given some results of other clubs during issues faced with COVID FHFC has had two years free ride.

COVID chose not to affect FHFC...?

One of the more laughable posts in a while mate.

There will be a time where FHFC are not the premiers but what you said is just disrespectful to the Club, Coaches, Officials and mostly the Players who have busted their arses for many years to get to the top and then worked even harder to stay there.

Flog.

Re: Southern Football League

With the rise in COVID cases, just wondering how many clubs get players to sanitiser hands during training and/or wipe the footy's down half way through training?

Or are some playing while positive and should be in iso?

No matter your stance on the current covid scenario if you are knowingly positive and still playing then you’re an incredibly selfish person. Good way to put a large chunk of players and volunteers at your club out of action for at least 1-2 weeks.

Re: Southern Football League

Wineflies and Flagstaff should be worth a watch.

Port Noarlaunga in trouble? Happy Valley might think they have a shot after the weekend.

That's the GF preview for mine, barring a monumental upset happening in the prelim. Porties looked light years off it.

Re: Great Southern Football League

Sunday’s Elimination Final. Even if some of Creek’s injuries return to the field Pongy should still be too good.

Today’s Qualifying Final. Bays will have a fair degree of confidence after defeating McLaren and Pongy the last 2 weeks. They will face a different looking McLaren side this time though who should get the win.

Re: Southern Football League

Unless Noarlunga has an upset over Reynella, they might miss out on finals. Did they the grandfinal last year?

Yeah, they did, with the comical acquisition of "star" recruit Matt Eagles. No wonder Sauce got the medal for best on

Seem to have a few injuries, Schulz has barely played this year, he's a massive loss for them in the ruck. Plus, zero juniors coming in as they neglect having an U17.5 team...

Re: Great Southern Football League

Yeah pongy were too good today. Hard to believe they lost to Bays in Rd18 at home.
Great effort by the VH reserves to get over Pongy. With a slim lead at 3/4 time it looked like Pongy would run over them with the wind. Into the GF from the Elimination is fantastic.

Re: Southern Football League

Wrapped to be wrong on this one congrats flies, my flaggie mate aint happy plenty of injuries, old blokes playing to long and a kid played who was concussed and not 100%

Geez you come up with some crap . The "kid" is in about 26 or 27, got concussed in the massacre of Porties, and had met the 21 day stand down policy.

There were 3 "old blokes" playing, Kirk absolutely wiped the floor with Marshman, Shearer got cleaned up early and didn't have his usual impact, and Smith looks like the hundreds and hundreds of goals he's kicked have finally caught up with him.

Was the lack of another tall or two that was Flaggies undoing, in the conditions a couple of bigger bodies would have been very handy.

But well done Winies, great to see a team filled with juniors get the win, unlike some of the mercenary teams populating the SFL.

Re: Southern Football League

$$hoies losing stalwarts now along with juniors....in a world of pain

Honestly, it's karma.
They're right next to one of the biggest growing areas in the South, and they totally neglect an U17 team. Where do they think the next key crop of senior players will come from? You can't buy everyone!

Look at Reynella & Flagstaff, both teams were chock full of juniors that have now formed impressive senior teams, and a lot play for unders, too, for the chance to play in flags with mates they've grown up with. You saw what happened with Christies this year with all their young blokes as well. Porties juniors are booming, and they're literally the next club over from Noarlunga in terms of location. Cove's juniors are pumping, so there's light at then end of the tunnel there, too.

Good on big Schultzy, take the dollars at Compa$$, you deserve it.

Re: Southern Football League

Flaggies easy over Ironbank
Very 50/50 on this game, new recruits at cove vs the younger lads at christies. Hoping the beach get over the line
Porties easily over Sharks
Valleys should outrun the shoes
Reynella to take the piss and win by 30goals vs emus

Flaggies have a heap out through injury, won't be a massive margin.
I think the Saints get it done on the bigger oval, the Cobras won't know what to do with so much space!
Porties percentage booster, Sproule to have a day out.
Based on last weekend, Valleys should win this by 100+
Yeah, the Winies to make it very ugly against the Emus, Marshman to also dine out.

This game is at Cove oval, It why the 50/50 comes in for me ;)

Right, in that case I agree with you!

Flies
Vikings
Divers
Thunderers
Weather might help a couple closer results tomorrow. Hopefully a good contest tomorrow at bice ova l.

Saints played well, adapted to the windy and slightly damp conditions much better than the Falcons, who seemed to think they were playing under the roof at Marvel...
I'm not convinced this game plan is gonna stack up well come September. Also, that was the smallest crowd I've ever seen at Bice.

Port Noarlunga - Falcons. Be great to watch this one. Port becuase home deck
Emus - Cobras - Cobras
Sharks -Saints Saints
Shoes - Ironbank Ironbank
Wineflies - Vikings - late game. Vikings on form.

2 great games and might get to see both with the late start. Everyone will know where they stand mid season.

Re: Southern Football League

Christies Beach v Noarlunga - I agree the Saints get the win
Reynella v Ironbank Cherry Gardens - Wineflies
Happy Valley v Port Noarlunga - Vikings if Port play like they did last week
Flagstaff v Morphett Vale - Can the emus keep it under 150
Cove v Aldinga - Cove by 100

Re: Southern Football League

Round 10, the return leg of home and away season begins

Christies Beach v Noarlunga - not sure where the Shoes are at, can see the Saints winning at home
Reynella v Ironbank Cherry Gardens - Wineflies by a whole heap
Happy Valley v Port Noarlunga - match of the round, can Valleys reverse their earlier meeting?
Flagstaff v Morphett Vale - this could get really ugly
Cove v Aldinga - Cove really need some percentage to stay in touch with Christies

Re: Southern Football League

And I thought the ypfl average margin of 111 points was bad

To be fair, the one shock was Reynella v Christies, thought that would be a fair bit closer.

The other 100+ margins were a result of the the top three sides playing the bottom 3 sides.

I think Ironbank Cherry Gardens would be better off in the Country div of the Hills league, Aldinga continue to suffer due to their proximity to the GSFL and the bigger bucks, and Morphett Vale made GFs in 2021 & 2022, before retirements and Handby taking the best 3 players to Blackwood happened.

Cove were a basket case last year and have improved a heap, so it can be done.

Think the league suffers from the strength of the top 4 clubs, the games between these teams are first rate, as good a game of footy as you will see. Reynella would be one of the best 4th placed amateur teams in SA, I reckon.

The issue arises when you have a team like Flagstaff Hill being able to have 8 to 10 regulars not play against Aldinga, yet still take home a 100+ win. There is a massive divide between the top sides and the rest of the comp.

All that being said, Aldinga's Angus Stangewitz could mount a very strong case to be the best backman in the SFL. Would have easily had 30+ possessions, 15 marks, repelled numerous forays forward on the weekend. He's a bloody star!

Re: Southern Football League

Big game at Bice this weekend saints vs cobras. Will make the saints a strong case for finals if they pull off the win

Huge game, if Cove have any chance of making finals they need to win this, have Happy Valley, Flagstaff and Reynella next, finishing with the Emus in the last round.

Saints have Flaggies, Emus, Porties & Sharks, so going by current ladder positions they'll split those 4.

Shoes have Vikings, Wineflies, Sharks, Falcons & Thunderers, so I can only see 2 more wins there.

Cove need to pinch a win somewhere and hope results go their way, I think
