Hardly surprising.
Apparently the applications for discretionary points and the resulting -1 x 2 for existing players granted were based on the clubs in question having points “shock” with the extra effect of the new system (despite having known about it for a year!) as it may mean having to lose existing players, or make them play Bs.
McLaren have shown that was all an absolute crock of sh1t with their big new players announcements.
Do we now await the announcements from Willunga or Myponga/Sellicks!?
I believe these clubs are to be praised for their achievements in working hard and being so successful in both junior and senior ranks- their recent records are all fantastic….
….but now when you’ve picked up a pile of points players in 2024 (and in some cases played them in the Bs) and using them as a reason to get points (/reductions) for 2025 is laughable.
As per my earlier post with individual players listed, pongy are the only ones who could legitimately say they couldn’t play their 2024 A grade points players in 2025 without playing a SC (even though 3 of those 4 were recruited in 2024….). That reason is ridiculous for McLaren and even more so Willunga.
