Coaching Merry-go-round

Feels like there's been extra high movement this year. What do people think?

How many teams have new coaches in 2025? Feels like some Divs will have 50% of clubs with fresh faces.

Re: Coaching Merry-go-round

Kretschmer to Uni is big. Good footy brain, got the most out of his talent and physical ability as a player by being smarter than most. Will improve them. Another club with a new coach though.

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 4

Interesting that he chose Plympton in div 4 and not his old club Edwardstown in div 3.

Reckon they even put a post up when he retired and everything!

Kieren Nelson was mentioned in the article as a good mate. I'd suspect the partners are also good friends and that helps free up the time commitment for footy.

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 1

Salary Cap is about SANFL not losing players to local footy.

All that is needed is the player points, if clubs want to spend dollars so be it, they will either succeed or they won't and will suffer the consequences. Player points was designed to even the competitions, it should also stop clubs loading up with players and force development.

The only unfair aspect of the points system is the old scholars having the advantage because some kid went to the college, which totally ignores that in the formative years community clubs developed them.

Having been involved with both College sides and Community clubs sides I've grown sick of this argument. College sides have the exact same access to those players who were at their school as the Community club does. If they played juniors at the club they are zero points, if they played College football they are zero points. The community club would then need to have a look at why the particular player would choose the College side over them surely. Many College footballers return to their community club when they finish school.

For River Murray - this means I am in favour of the current APPS.

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 7

Hey The Bedge , do you think it's time I roll out the annual BP gag?
... almost
One more club extremely south of the city and we could almost set up an origin clash.

Would make Aldinga competitive if they joined D7...

In all seriousness, Aldinga win Div 6 at a canter. Div 7 they would beat most sides by 20 plus week in week out.

Re: Salary Cap Investigations

Salary Cap for AdFL is now no different to the rest of SA Community Footy. Has been since COVID.

now time for Amateurs to be no different to rest of SA community footy.......with AAPS points.......currently a joke
a debacle over points allocation.....amateur clubs even divvy 7 get 15 points a club.......same as divvy 1 get 15
but divvy 7 clubs getting more AAPS points than 90% of country clubs and same as divvy 1 clubs.......is a shambles

RMFL clubs....hills clubs...GSFL clubs...Kntfl clubs.... and all other country leagues are on a sliding scale

absolute garbage.....we either alll get the same points as amatuer clubs......or it's just not fair

can't have one league getting 15 points every club........other clubs in other leagues get 3 or 4 or 5 or 6.....depending on factors

every club should get 15.....end of story.....not a level playing field.......no wonder country clubs might feel the need to pay more $$$
can't blame country clubs......if they decide to pay more $$$.....when not an equal playing field with AAPS points

all clubs in SA should get the same AAPS points

It's only an equal playing field if we all get to smoke the same gear you're on.

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 5

I know Marion are good but pretty shocked by that demolition of greenacres… who I also thought were good.

Sort of ruins the comp a bit.

Becomes a game of who can catch them off-guard almost.

8 teams out of 10 with a percentage of less than 50. The scores against are ridiculous when you look at Marion giving up 354 and the next best being Gaza at 543. And then they've scored 930, and aside from Greenacres the next best is EP over 200 points behind. Crazy.

Thats why you need EP to make a GF against them. Their probably the only team who would genuinely back themselves in (especially after last year) to knock them off.

Greenacres will still back themselves after 2023 I'd have thought.

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 5

Full disclosure. I didn't look at the players, just their scores. It's not great.
