Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

IMO, the only way forward for Crows and Power AFL reserves sides in the SANFL, is to have them playing for no premiership points (and obviously, no finals).

Re: Australian Rules Hall of Fame- 2017

I'm quite surprised when I go to Victoria with the coverage in both print and TV of interstate sides, they're not even close to the biased reporting here that assumes everyone follows Crows or the Power.

There is only 2 teams in the comp if you were to believe the Adelaide media.
Yeah, but mostly just one.

Yep. That's what happens when the chief reporter is a life long port man

Re: Post Round 23 Bye

boo hoo. they dont have to travel out of victoria more than 6 times ever

This is one I actually go into bat for Victorian clubs.
Yes they play more games in Victoria than having to "travel" but that is a legacy of having over 50% of the clubs based in Victoria. Every interstate side entering the competition knew this.
As for Geelong's home ground, 100% they should get their finals there, not MCG. Just like Bulldogs should have got Etihad, not MCG for the Crows final.

North Melbourne... ...no members, a Scott brother for coach who didn't walk into a ready made side, a try hard high profile president who thinks he's 25 not 50, do not demand media attention unless Jim shoehorns them into his shows.
Ummm, 40k members (not bad for an "irrelevant" club) and Ben Buckley is our chairman, Brayshaw stepped down as per our club's constitution at the end of last year. If you're going to hang shit, please go right ahead - at least get it remotely correct though.

Been a great career to follow, love the way he goes about it. May have crossed the line here and there, but all in the chase for success , which he was pretty good at. Always feel that bit older when another champion retires after you saw the start-finish of their career.

The better players do this and rightly so. Need to be right on the edge.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

Well that's easy.

What are we trying to measure?
What is the time-frame we're measuring within?
What are the known biases?
What are the available sources of data?
What is the quality of that data?

Answer them, and you'll quickly understand what data and stats we ought to be using.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

Onto another fun topic....crowds.
Sat arvo against a team no one supports . 30-35k a pass mark?

I don't see how this is a factor. It's not like any other club would bring 15-20k more supporters to a game here. The onus is on the home team to build a large crowd.

St Kilda win tonight and they displace Port from the top 4. Port would need to win to get back in the 4 so there is plenty of incentive for their fans to go.

My word it's a factor

It has been confirmed that the Crows official was a sub contracted security guard. This was confirmed from both sides. Do we need a statement from the security company as well? Does the security guard need to hold a press conference?

Gotta say I'm with "MW" on this one. It's a massive beat up, loose on facts, fuelled by a f***wit from a Murdoch paper with a childish vendetta to snipe as much as possible at his chosen target for the times. The whole story and subsequent articles plays to fixed mindsets and prejudices while not being at all correct, Trump, Spicer, Conway and Goebells would be proud.
This whole circus is a magnifying glass on the current state of journalism, social media, and the state of Aussie Rules at the moment, every aspect lacks any integrity.

Well said.

Re: AFL 360 - (and other Foxtel footy programs)

Collingwood president and former Footy Show Eddie McGuire will reportedly return to his seat in the host chair as Channel Nine get set to shake up the long-running show.

The Herald Sun has reported on Friday afternoon that McGuire will replace Craig Hutchinson as the main host, and will host the show alongside Rebecca Maddern and Sam Newman, who will keep his spot on the desk .

Next step is to turf Dave Hughes. Have him on as a bit part person if they need too, but not as a panellist ffs

I prefer to trust my gut than see meaningless stats, he has a long history of going missing in the big matches against real quality opposition

There is no gut feeling When you're accusing a player of not scoring goals. He either does or he doesn't.

Re: I need to know....

Scenario...

A boss and employee are friends on Snapchat. The boss has Sunday off, but the employee is one of two that are rostered on.

At the time of the store opening, the boss is browsing Snapchap, and notices the employee was at home 2 minutes ago. The boss knows he lives 20 minutes from work.

The boss messages the other employee to see what time the first employee got to work, because they are prone to fibbing.

Has the boss done anything wrong?

No.
Now delete your boss from your snapchat account

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

Question is- with the emergence of Clurey, the resurgence of Jonas, plus having to fit one of Hombsch and Austin in the side, what is Trengove's role moving forward??

I genuinely have no idea. He's a better defensive centre half back than all of them

I think someone explained it a few days ago on here.
Allowing him to go forward as the 2nd ruck and Ryder swapping with him means they don't disrupt the back six with ruck changes when Trengove goes in.
