Re: Mens ICC Cricket World Cup, India 2023.

This is why I don't like both these guys in the team together, both striking mid 60's, if they get out before getting it back to near a run a ball then it's failure.

Re: ASCA

They only lost because their match was unfairly moved, which resulted in thousands of fans being able to flock to the ancestral and spiritual home of Sutton Derby. 8)
Not to mention the loss revenue from the sell out crowd they had for the home match, I heard KISS stayed in Australia for the pre-match entertainment.

Re: 2023 Adelaide footy League - Division 6

Was some talk of Smithfield asking to stay in Div 6. Better development for their younger players and would be a logistically easier division with travel.

Very sure Elizabeth and EP will not want to stay up so hard to see how they can be squeezed in unless Houghton want to stay down.
They pretty much lost every game by 30 goals and were gifted a free pass to div 6 this year when they should've been in 7. Logistically easier, what a crock of shit
1: I too think it’s a crock of shit, I’m sure they’d prefer to go down at this stage.
2: I’d hardly call it a free pass into div 6, I’m sure they would’ve preferred to start in div 7.

Re: I need to know....

A lot of fair points, I too struggle at this time of year and also when the weather starts changing the other way around.

It’s weird though, I actually feel as alive and happy as I’ve been in a long time, Saturday night for instance I had been at the cricket for most of the day, whoofed a few beers and cc’s down at home then went to a party at 10pm, got home at 4am and felt fine Sunday arvo.

I’m in great spirits atm.

Swans supporters in the different support groups on Facebook. Need to settle down a bit I reckon  I've seen multiple people post our round 1 side and talking finals. They need to relax

Re: 2023 Silly Season

I said under 22 ;)

Guess my point is a new coach would have more of a view to the future, Ken (understandably in his position) is all in.
Well you’d have to do something to give your job sone security, you guys have won 10.5 games in the past 4 years, whatever you’ve tried clearly hasn’t worked.

Completely agree, Ken has to go for a flag and that is what he is doing, but there is fallout from this strategy and Lord being targeted because Dixon is still there is one of them.
Ken would’ve f****** the Hawthorn dynasty up if coached them during that period.

Re: Mens ICC Cricket World Cup, India 2023.

Smith & Marnus this series:
Smith 65(92) ave: 21.7 s/r: 70.65
Lab 108(175) ave: 36 s/r: 61.71
Combined 173(267) ave: 28.8 s/r: 64.79

If everyone batted like that we’d score 195.

Re: PDCA

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but no one cared when other clubs had to be the whipping girls to Eyre during their dominance across both A/B grade the last however many years.. should make them stay in the top flight, regardless of who they've lost.

Also my understanding is they've all gone to EP - who have 4x sides this year - and only one C grade girl went to Fitzroy.

Unfortunately the dominance of Eyre Royals, and the lack of effort put in to level the competition playing field over the years has decimated the women's competition. Interesting that the one season where they're finally pitted against themselves in A/B grade, the B grade win, and the fall out is their girls all walk away.

Don't think that's too unpopular. Most would agree, they had their time in the sun, one year as the whipping girls won't hurt too much.
There lies the problem, the girls that will be getting whipped didn’t have their time in the sun, there’s no right or wrong solution, it’s just astounding how it all imploded beyond repair.

Re: Mens ICC Cricket World Cup, India 2023.

Lol, 9/367 after putting on 259 for the first wicket.
The middle order need to have a good, hard look at themselves. Pathetic batting

Really a terrible innings aside from the openers
Warner/Marsh/Extras 309

The Rest 58
This tends to happen when the openers/number three go really big, if they're dismissed the rest of the order obviously just come in and try to slog from ball one trying to get as many as they can as fast as they can and don't care about throwing their wickets away, it's chaotic and low scores/soft dismissals can easily happen.

This match actually reminded me of the match where Travis Head scored his first ODI hundred and Warner scored one too, against Pakistan here in Adelaide in 2017. Head and Warner put on 284 and Aus made 7/369, Pakistan were bowled out for 312.
https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/pak-tour-of-aus-2016-17-1000871/australia-vs-pakistan-5th-odi-1000895/full-scorecard

Zampa the pick of the bowlers and Cummins took a ripper to dismiss Babar.

Re: 2023 Silly Season

Not too bad a pick up for Carlton, they are limited in their small forwards so it’s really a free throw at the stumps.

Makes a mockery of him wanting to return home from Essendon when a few years later he’s happy to leave again

If he gets and keeps his body right there’s a position in the forward line for him for sure.
He has had more clubs than games played

Re: Pat's ( Not Spargo ) Punt Club 2023

Looks good lads, I'll watch on with interest.

Only thing to work out would be what happens if you get a double up in the quaddies.
1) $240 leads to a bigger than 10% share.
2) Stick with 10% and therefore have more money to put into the cup first 4 and trifecta.
3) make people select again.
4) Booney/Dutchy to pick a replacement.

(All are fair responses, and I doubt anyone would be too upset with whatever you do, just worth determining now so you don't have to make a last minute decision on cup day).
5) Trader joins and makes the next selection

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Watched it's 4 starts, it can't jump with the field, it's either wide or boxed in on the rails.
Race it won came from 2nd last on the outside in a field of 8.
Worth a dollar each way maybe, although the stable can produce big priced winners at times.
I think the odds balloon on their horses because the jock is crap and every now and then they get gifted a peaceful run.

Asheligh Stanley Jockey. This season 30 starts 1 win 1 place

Last 50 starters.

Was a tongue in cheek comment, both are great value and the PDCA is extremely lucky to have had them involved over many years for the long journey.

Will always respect Elaine in particular for her work in promoting the womens game. Absolute trailblazer in the womens game.
Yeah, Elaine’s a legend, I used to work closely with her when the women’s comp was in its infancy, we used to organise association games against the Jets and her zest for promoting women’s cricket for all ages and abilities is nothing short of brilliant, hence the accolades that she has been awarded along the journey.

Put a $4 tri on R6 needing Willy Pike to run 2nd, it got up and I had 20% on it ($154 return), I was doing the scoring at my sons cricket so I wasn't paying full attention, I accidentally put the bet on twice.

Re: Mens ICC Cricket World Cup, India 2023.

200 to go. The sloggers need to make some form of contribution so it’s not all left to Smith and Marnus.
And that Head did, your backhanded dig doesn’t bother me mate, I believe I predicted us to win with Trav going downtown ;)

No dig intended! I was worried when Smith got out and with the way the ball was moving and Head was playing at that time, I thought it was going to be on Marnus to bat the innings and hoping others would make enough contributions around him. Up step Travis Head to play one of the best innings we'll ever see. To Marnus' credit, he played a fantastic role in supporting Head. It was a brilliant partnership to back up the effort of the bowlers and fielders in the 1st Innings.

I love the way One Day Cricket has been played in this World Cup. The batting is entertaining, but there is still great value on a wicket. Depending on the conditions - we've seen everything from low 200's to high 300's be a competitive target. The batsman are making centuries and the bowlers are taking 5fers.

Credit to Cummins and the brains trust of this Australian World Cup campaign. They got everything right.
No worries, I did wake up a bit dusty. I too have enjoyed the way the bat hasn't dictated the tournament, I’m a huge fan of ODI cricket as I think strategy is a big key to it.

It would’ve been a struggle if Head got out for under 80, we are blessed with an array of firepower, I wonder how much Maxwell’s innings against the Afghans gave us psychological help, Marsh’s comment when he left the group for a week must have played a part too, overall it was the team that won the comp, we had many contributors and never relied on an individual.

Re: Things that you rate!

Went down to the Sailmaster for lunch today, what a top notch place, wish it was closer to home!
Great beers on tap, comfortable furniture, great views of the marina and the meals were sensational. Best seafood basket I've ever had!
If it wasn't so far away from most things I could convince the missus to move down there!
Was that the $150 seafood basket thingy? They are sensational.

I took the ex there to share one for what I knew was going to be our final outing together, it had been on the bucket list for a while.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/australia-news-green-harris-renshaw-bancroft-named-in-pm-s-xi-to-face-pakistan-1409889

Prime Minister's XI squad to play Pakistan in Canberra on December 6th-
Nathan McSweeney (c), Cameron Bancroft, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Nathan McAndrew, Todd Murphy, Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Matthew Renshaw, Mark Steketee, Beau Webster

Marcus Harris would have to be the Prime Minister 11/Australia A games record holder hey. ;)

Harris still has at least another 2 opportunities ahead of him at test level to prove he isn’t up to it.
Why put Green in there?

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

I’m a Hills D1 follower and I’ve heard/read lots of positive things about Wayne Knowles as a coach calling him the “Messiah” but from what I see he just spends a lot of money recruiting for a couple years and then leaves for another opportunity. Has he actually won a flag? Probably why he hasn’t coached in the big 3 (GSFL, HFL D1, BLGFA). still won’t get near Two Wells.
He did the hard yards at Virginia this season winning just the one game.

He now has the assistance of Tommy Javor as the Football Director and they aren’t trying to buy a flag, they are trying to build a culture.

They were a long way off the pace last season with a very young list, they have retained the kids (that was their first priority) and have got a fair few young lads back that used to play for them, they’ve obviously recruited some serious talent along the way too.

Tommy has a great footy brain and is very well respected in the footy circles, I can see him and Wayne sticking around for a while out there, there’s plenty of talented kids coming through and there’s a good positive vibe around the place, even after the long season they just endured.

SACA should just scour Play HQ each week and find any 11 players that are in a bit of form in any comp.

Ton up for Eastern Park one week and then play on the WACA the following.

Thank f*** for that.

Kids will wanna go regardless, if we’re winning then numbers will be good.

I love the guy but it pisses me off that he soaks up so much of the cap and then takes off just before finals.

I’d rather a player that has 70% of his ability but can play 100% of the games.

Port have an inability to win the big games that matter, you can caress the fact and push the blame to wherever you feel like.

Kenny panics under pressure, he orders a negative game plan too early sometimes IMO as there is no plan B.

As a supporter we have to put up with the dumb shit that falls out of his pie hole, I can only imagine what it does for the players’ mindset.

Pound for pound our squad is as good as any, it has been for several years, we continue to fall over at the last hurdle, I think there’s a common denominator.
