Re: North Melbourne 2016

Titus O'Reilly

There are reports that up to a dozen football fans are excited about raffle specialist Brent ‘Boomer’ Harvey beating Michael Tuck’s game record this weekend.

“I suppose I should be excited; it is an amazing record,” said footy fan Elise Mayberry.

“I assume North fans are excited. I’ve never met one, so I’m not sure but you’d think they would be.

“I just wish it was someone else you know? Like anyone else.”

Long time Kangaroos fan Bertie McNichol said Boomer had always said he was motivated by the haters.

“No wonder he’s played so long then. He could play until he’s eighty if that’s what gets him going.”

Hawthorn fan Derek Suarez said he was disappointed Michael Tuck’s record was being broken.

“I guess this is what people mean when they say it’s tough being a footy fan. As a Hawthorn fan I never really understood what that meant.”

“This has left me feeling pretty flat. Don’t worry about me though. The annual premiership always cheers me up.”

A spokesperson for North Melbourne said there had actually been a huge amount of interest surrounding Boomer’s 427th game.

“We even sold one of those commemorative jumpers the other day, which I can tell you is a busy week for us.”

Couldnt have put it better myself

Re: Port Adelaide 2016

Wedgie is right. Once Ebert goes the only thing Port Adelaide about the Power will be Alberton oval. You can 'one club' it all you like but you sold your soul and your existence to form an AFL entity that was referred to last night (admittedly during the Cricket with non-SA commentators) as 'South Australia's Second AFL team', I had visions of Booney wincing when the commentator said this.

In before ' Redlegs rooted the SANFL'. Can't argue there.

regards,

REB

Edited for accuracy

LOL. Go back to talking about Port Crowds. The league was rooted long before then. The Vics sucked us in badly from 1987 on.

Any coincidence that Port had a huge win and Hartlett didnt play, imagine what couldve happened if they dropped him 10 weeks ago.

My mail is he is no certainty to be there next year, the only sticking point will be getting another club to take over the last 5 years of his contract. Lucky there is still Richmonds in this comp

Younie left the game at 3 qtr time to go to the main event. Cnut.
Even the coach knows it's a crock of shit. Honesty is the best policy.

Can not wait to hear Rowy and Bicks pull themselves over reasons why Younie left the game at half time

i am sure it will be completely justified !!!

Re: SAs most travelled footballer!!!

I don't think there's enough credit being given to Shayne and Marc, not just for the unusual spelling of their names, but also the absolute commitment to spreading themselves around so many clubs. They've done a remarkable job, have probably seen more of SA and grass roots footy than most of us.

Also shows a very significant commitment to learning the words to club songs.

Maybe thats why Mitchell went to Callington late in his career

Re: Best and Worst of 2016

The worst

The AFL giving the Hawks a dream run again
Thursday night footy
The umpiring 'rule of the week'
The Bye rounds
Week off before finals
Score review - should be All or nothing at all venues

The Good
Some of the teams that have been closer to the spoon than the 8 in recent years heading in the right direction.
The closeness of the top 8

Do you mean the draw by us having all our double up games against teams below us on the ladder?
Or having the 2nd most 6 day breaks?
Or the most interstate trips out of all the Victorian teams?

I am shocked that it took 13 posts before a Geelong fan mentioned the Hawks and even more shocked that you are still the only one. Does this mean there is a sense of resignation amongst the also rans?

Quite simply PATHETIC and you deserve to be embarrassed with such negative tactics.
Australia became No, 1 in the 90s by taking the game on, not hiding behind a rock.
Not to worry, have a home series coming up and they'll all be heroes again batting on spinless roads
Agreed and thought the same. Sending Lyon out there was bullshit, definitely a weak tactic. You're a top order batsman FFS you should be good enough to handle it so get out there, face the music and make some runs.

Kahwaja showed how piss weak he is mentally, his dismissal on top of the decision to send Lyon in backs it up

Re: Indubitably, round 20.

Imagine if Sydney and GWS finished top two. It would be a disaster for the league. They need the sponsored Victorian team to finish top so the bandwagon fans and their pets hit the G for their annual pilgrimage. They'd like to see the Crows in 5th as well so the Oval is packed. In order to keep Fraudthorn up top the umpires have had to work overtime this season but they've duly delivered in matches against the Bulldogs, Saints, Crows, Roos and now the Demons. It's pretty obvious today because the Hawks are badly missing Frawley who has done a great job covering Lake.

By giving an already great player like Cyril RIoli his own rule book and paying tricky touch woods to Ceglar while Bernie Vince gets nothing for getting his nose broken the league have displayed thier hand. unlike the 2012 and 2014 Preliminary Finals , they aren't even trying to hide it any more. This Fraudthorn side could not beat Geelong 2007-2011, Brisbane 2001-2004, Essendon 1999-2001, North and West Coast of the 1990s and certainly not the REAL Hawthorn gun team of the 80s.

Fraudthorn are as plastic as the teams that helped them create this second rate dynasty. They guard space and play pathetic uncontested football. Any dominant side should be good to watch but this team isn't. When it gets tough they play unsociable which just means they get away with shit that other teams can't get away with. Even if this club wins six in a row, after the commentators have stopped masturbating history will remember them as a highly successful team during the weakest period the game has ever known.

Hawks by 22, I reckon Melbourne are tiring.

REB

If Hawkins gets games then Sloane is goneski

Sent from my XT1562 using Tapatalk

how are they even remotely similar. Jumper punch vs spoiling.

Youre right they arnt remotely similar, a better comparison is Jonas. Both late, both had the same intent Only difference is the result of the action which brings Sloane down from 6 to 3.
If the Crows were to make the Grand Final would they bring Sloane in after not playing from now until then?

Re: Centrals V Adelaide Saturday September 3 12:10

The bottom line here is that this was an absolutely common sense decision by the SANFL. CEY has missed two SANFL games all season and replaced a suspended player otherwise it would have been one. The permit system is in place for exactly this sort of situation, so it is completely within the rules and by no means an abuse of the system. Absolutely the right and logical call.

But youre quite happy for Seedsman to play even though he hardly played SANFL. Common sense would also mean he is ineligible as it does for Sloane and Smith. You cant work your logic both ways, hypocritical flog

Re: I need to know....

Is there any mathematical/computer programming wizzes amongst us?

I need to know if its possible to do a cricket draw simultaneously for 4 grades, with team numbers of 8, 6, 8 and 12 in the 4 grades.
It involves an A grade team and B grade team from the same club in 2 of the grades so sharing of ovals and avoiding clashes is a must.

The MyCricket program doesnt allow me to incorporate the 6 team grade into the draw. It must have between 7 and 12 teams to be able to work out a draw simultaneously

add a 7th team called "bye" that plays at a bogus home ground

would that work?

Thats sort of what I have done now, havnt had a chance to look closely to see if it works.
Added another 2 team so its an 8 team draw, just have to manually edit the matches involving the 2 bogus teams,

Just adding one team would also work as it automatically generates the bye
