Re: Essendon 2014

Wow already talking about premierships
As Walsh did when he came to Adelaide and as every coach that has ever taken over a club does.
He aint going to come in and say we are going to come bottom, his job is to be positive and help sell the club to its supporters.
He also said his first step is to get the club back into finals contention and eventually win a flag. He acknowledged that 3 years might not be long enough and if required he hopes the club will give him time.
You'll have to post a little more S L O W L Y for her mate...

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Kefi - Greek cuisine, Tapleys Hill Rd, Glenelg Nth
Never ever disappoints

Tried booking earlier in the week for last night, full house sorry. Had my details in case of a cancellation. Got the golden phone call yesterday as I was making lunch. I never ate it in preparation for the evenings feed.

Entrees are not required & are a trap for first timers.
I had the Chargrilled Octopus - copious amount, cooked perfectly in an olive oil salsa - $40
Mrs Spargo had the Mixed Souvlaki, 2 x shaslicks probably 30cm long of chicken & lamb easily weighing 150gm each - $37
Kids had a mountain of lightly fried calamari - $27 and also some oven baked filo cheese triangles - $17
The old man also had the Mixed Souvlaki
Mum had the Seafood plate of Whiting, Garfish, Calamari & Prawns. It came out presented on a plate with the food almost 30cm high - $38
ALL meals come with a stack of pita bread, wonderfully cooked potatoes, dips & a large bowl of Greek salad which those at the table who like salad, said was exceptional.
Dad & I had 3 Boags Premium each @ $7.50
My wife had a glass of Adelaide Hills Rose @ $7 and Mum had a glass of SA Sauv Blanc @ $8
Kids bottle soft drink was $4
Corkage on the bottle of red we took was a reasonable $15

No one walks out of this joint hungry, over half the diners take a doggy bag home which the establishment is more than happy to provide.
Whilst quantity cannot be questioned, neither can the quality of food. There are 2 sittings, 6pm & 8pm, it's loud & you're cramped in - but not uncomfortably. Book a month in advance.

9.9/10

Ive been hanging to try this place for years, having never heard a bad word about it (apparently there's another excellent Greek joint around Brompton way too).

Don't suppose Kefi's does take away?
Yep, they do. Same size & price as dining in.

Re: Why Woodville in 1964

I had heard it was to lessen Port's success.

Yes it was to de-value or try to de-value the mighty magpie.

Some said it was other teams passing the cemetery, visiting alberton.

Woodville SANFL was to even up the competition..

Such was the power of "FOS"

Maybe he should have a statue at "Adelaide Oval".

Or a bridge named after him.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

I am deadset staggered at the outcry & criticism directed towards Greg Miles re his Caufield Cup call.
I watched the race at home and knew something was wrong down the home straight - something more than a broadcaster getting a horse wrong, or forgetting a name. Sure enough, it has been revealed that Miles suffered from a health situation due to some medication he had taken earlier. It caused him to lose his breath and for his heart to race at a potentially dangerous rate. But that didn't stop the gutless society on Facebook/Twitter sinking the boots in and calling for his retirement. Even some media identities (who you'd think would know better) questioned and ridiculed the call.
Never mind the fact he actually got the dead-heat correct earlier in the meet, never mind the fact he was mentally tough enough and showed all his class by nailing the final race of the day following the Cup. Never mind the fact it was his THIRTY FIFTH cup call. He has been one our greatest race callers for decades now, the fact he felt it necessary to publicly apologise for his error is a sad reflection on society. Those who felt the need to bag him should maybe look in their own back yard....
Greg Miles didn't deserve this.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Nordburger.

Already think quite low of this place. Extremely overrated and pretty terrible compared to the other burger joints about.

But I live just up the road and was starving for a burger this morning.

Roll in, only to be told that it's breakfast menu only until 11am. **** sake, hate places that do this. My biggest regret was not walking out then. Knew it should have been done.

Anyway, order the sausage and egg muffin with a couple hash browns.

What I get is two very average and very small hash browns and a sausage and egg muffin worse than from maccas or HJs.

Nordburger is an absolute sack of shit. 0/10 will never be back.

Our first ever 0/10. Perhaps a touch harsh but the underlying theme of your post is that you're not a fan by all accounts.

I'll never ever forget Mitchell Johnson terrorising Graeme Smith & Jacques Kallis in South Africa, it's still the most devastating session of fast bowling I've ever seen.

Unfortunately Cricket South Africa have since taken down the original highlights so all I could find is this mirrored footage of the same footage, I suppose you get to see Johnson bowling right handed ;)

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

For the first time ever, I had a horse racing dream last night where this horse I'm watching at long odds, (44 dollars on Ubet) wins by about 2 lengths. In my dream I saw it pass the line and the dividends pop up on screen. And I read and remembered the name.

I know the number, I know it runs clockwise, I know the name of it and what it pays when it hits the line.

Doing some research on the horses name, it's a 20 start horse and still hasn't won. So it fits the bill - so far! Now I just need to find out when it's next running! If I miss it, I WILL SPEW.
Well????? What's its phaaarking name????

Re: Aus. v NZ - Test Series / Shaun Marsh Appreciation Threa

Will be interesting to see much money the SACA make or lose from the test. Would conservatively think maybe 10-20,000 tix already pre sold for the two days to be refunded that's a fair bit of coin to hand back. The real winner will be the C9, sounds like their ratings were through the roof

I was told by a brewery rep in the last session on Friday that they had just gone onto Day 3s grog supply.
Thought catering wise Friday was a disgrace, apparently it improved saturday and sunday.
47000 cricket fans obviously require more catering that 47000 footy fans
Unbelievable
