Re: BEST JOKES - Warning: Site Rules Still Apply

Another Grub and Mighty Tiger are at the TAB
A robber bursts in making demands
the bandit robs the TAB and starts on the customers
Mighty Tiger feels the sensation of Another Grubs hand on his own hand
Mighty Tiger feels paper, but being to scared to look down whispers to Another Grub
" What have you given me Grub?"
Another Grub whispers back
" Its the $50 I owe you ..."

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

All 4 results still possible.
EG new coach new captain and it appears a new style of playing.

They are indeed playing with a new enterprising attacking style
This test match will go down as one of the greatest wins England has ever had

Not bad for a team mentioned by a senior poster on this site as the worst or one of the worst teams to tour Australia recently
They got thrashed in Australia coz the series was played here , more than most other factors
Any side that has Stokes, Root, Anderson, Broad[ and now Bairstow] is not the worst ever
If they can get the The Joff Archer and Mark Wood fit how good can they be
England have a BIG population and will no doubt re-generate even after the fast bowling duo of Stewy and Jimmy call it a day

They also appear to have a very good keeper batsman , but I will wait for wicket keeping guru analyst Ambays opinion on Foakes

It was a great Test match
On the matter of run chases SAFOOTY expert WHUFC recently said sumthing like that the modern players can now chase down totals in Test cricket more than ever b4
He was chastised by a senior poster on this site
I think this game more or less improves the hypothesis presented by bulldog WHUFC
I cant recall a 5th day smashathon in Test cricket like this match

Great match, great for cricket
Test cricket is alive , if they keep playing like these 2 teams did ...

Re: R12 Port v Glenelg

Thanks. Everyone makes an error. I seem to make one per post.

Port beat the flag favourites first time around by 3 points,

That said, I am not sure they should be the flag favourites but will stick with that for now.

For the record Flag Favourites, you alluded to, beat port by 47 points on May 28.

We played them on May the first.

;)

Incorrect
The flag favorites throughout the year with bookmakers has been Glenelg
Current TAB odds
GL 2-75
NA 4-00

You have also mentioned recently that NA are unbackable odds the win this years Premiership
Unbackable is odds of $1-00

DOC keep up the good work and thanks for the SANFL preamables

Re: BEST JOKES - Warning: Site Rules Still Apply

Man was enjoying his trip on the motor launch, and eating his steak sandwich,
Dog owned by the woman next to him was looking up at him begging,
Man says to woman… “Do you mind if I toss your dog a bit?”
She nodded, so the man threw the dog overboard.!

Reminds me of when we took our dog Billy to the vet
Billy was a bit restless so the Vet lifted him up to inspect
He checked and then told us," Im going to have to put the dog down"
I asked "Why"
He replied " Because he is too heavy."

Re: SANFL 2022 Season

Looking at the fixture for the remainder of the season I'm thinking there is a chance that North can still miss the finals if the Eagles and Norwood make up the percentage gap. Adelaide, Glenelg and Sturt look like they will finish on more points than them.

There's also a chance that I could root Jennifer Aniston

North are playing finals.

IF you did score with Jennifer , make sure you use protection

Re: BOXING History + Stories

R I P Johhny Famechon [77]
At one stage the World Featherweight Champion.

These are my memories of the champ, of whom I followed his career very closely
One the greatest defensive fighters this country has produced, his evasive skills were quite amazing.
Johnny quit the ring whilst still in great boxing form, whilst he still had all his faculties in tact , he left the ring in good shape
He got out probably to avoid the punch drunk syndrome
He was involved in a car accident in the early 1990's that left him struggling
It made this accident even sadder given that he had been World champ and retired virtually unmarked.

Johhny was my favourite Ozzie boxer

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

This is the facts since St Joseph voted AC/PA into the comp

The bend over clubs who voted them in are
EG/GL/NA/NW/ST/WA
All 6 clubs that voted YES have won a SANFL premiership
The 2 AFL clubs have not a premiership
And the 2 NO clubs CD/SA have not won a premiership

I deduce that the bend overs got it right

1997 V PA
2012 V WA

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2022/2023

Great run chase
When you are 1/0 against an attack of Siddle, Meredith, Ellis, Rogers you are up against it
Good effort by Travis Head for taking on that attack and scoring at almost a run a ball 27 [28]
That kept the chase at an acceptable run rate for Nathan McSweeney and Jake Lehmann to take us to an excellent chase and victory

Re: T20, 2022 World Cup

Brutal for the keeper - batsman clean bowled but technically concedes 3 byes!!

Will end up with a rule change I think.

Free Hit yes
But if the batsman is dismissed on a free hit should be 0 runs no wicket ?

No

I dont see a problem in running byes on a free hit regardless if the ball hit the stumps or not

Stuff the bowler for being stupid enough to bowl a no ball in the 1st place.

For those who are unaware of the Jackpot Jim legend
A magnificent batsman who made 50+ runs every time I had the privilege of seeing him batting
However as a bowler, his best achievements were at ten pin bowling alleys
Hence his post supporting a batsman and not a bowler

Windies lost 20 wickets, we lost 6. Fair gulf between the teams

Agree and was done without one of the greatest ever first change or opening bowler in Australian fast bowling history, Pat Cummins in the 2nd dig.

Great to see ''allrounder'' Travis Head in his 99 runs /0/4 [1] / 2/25[8] performance
He belongs at this level

Re: Australian International Season 2022/23

Questions
Who will replace Pat Cummins if needed for the Adelaide Test match?
Will Cameron Green get a bat in this series?

Scott Boland deservedly must get the bowling spot
But in view of the aging Test team, it would be a nice time to play Lance Lightning Morris ?

Time to do sum rebuilding perhaps ?
In 5 years time there's a possibility of only Cam Green and The Trav being in the team
The rest of the current team will all be retired or almost retired

LANCE LIGHTNING MORRIS
I knew I had a chance with Lancealot of wickets Morris as a Test cricketer as both WHUFC and myself have both been posting him up
When we both agree it means it should be happening
Lets not forget he got Ben Manetti out cheaply this season- not many have done that in Bennys SS career

Still think Scott Boland has to play before Lightning Lance- but Lance is on the radar

Re: Australian International Season 2022/23

Im tending to agree with the safooty icon am bays
The behaviour goes back to the Ian Chappell daze, when we were called the Ugly Australians

Todays players are scrutinised more than the Chappell/Border eras for example
The microphonics are picking up sledging and carry on , that technology was very seldom when TV first started

The 2nd test match I ever attended was Australia v England 1970 Adelaide oval
EG batted first and were about 2/240 at stumps day 1
Geoffrey 'slasher' Boycott was run out for 58
I heard nothing sinister from that test[ DK 'FOT'Lillee debut test 5/84 +0/40]

An umpire in that test said that 2-3 fielders told Boycott to '''#$%^&*&^%$%^'' as Geoffrey hung about
That incident was not evident to me at the time, nor if I recall exacerbated in the press of the day

If that happens in a test match now - it can be highlighted and quite possibly repeated

So yeah I agree with amBays , after all it is a subject where he is a world wide authority in

Re: Australian International Season 2022/23

Is Boland a better bowler than Hazelwood?
Two great bowlers, but who would you choose between them?

Good question
Hazelwood for me, has been a great 'consistent' bowler for a long time
Boland in the short term has performed as well as any fast bowler Ive ever seen- his is Lillie/Mcgrath/Lightning Mcqueen standard

The thing is u select Hazelwood b4 Boland as you get a bowler that bowls well just about anywhere
The test for Boland would be bowling in Asia and and overseas in general.

My pecking order of fast bowlers
Cummins[ the best of them all as bowls a lot at first change ]
Hazelwood
STARc [ coz he is left handed and varies the attack]
Boland
Lightning Lance the wild thing Morris [ the future]
Neser [ on certain decks] who is very under rated

Still maintain that Australia needs to blood Lightning Lance , the others whilst aging well, mite all be retiring close to each other

The Australian selectors usually get it right
They should know that left hand spin works well on Indian pitches
That makes Ashton Agar a must selection
He is also a handy bat, who almost made a ton on debut in Test cricket
He is also exceptional fielder

Im not saying he will succeed, but he looks the logical 2nd spinning selection

Agree totally

And don’t get me started on on the incessant changing of gloves and unscheduled drinks.

Unless it’s an injury no drinks or gloves changes should be allowed within 15 mins of a drinks or session break.

And the injury means you to retire hurt (helmet knocks excepted)

We actually might agree on a topic

Changing gloves every twenty minutes is the biggest load of crap!

Ditto , make it the 3 of us
The time wasting by Warner and the Lab nearing stumps was very poor
They were within their rites to 'bend' the rules
Now up to the officials to address this
