#8 needs to have the rail to do any good here, if gets to the rail has a big motor mid race, but may struggle to get all the way across cleanly, is tentitive behind runners and gets checked out easily. That's why have low rated.
#1 can ping and LAW, times are not the best here, #2 gets the best sit in the race, will be strong late and definite value. #5 likes it here, but only has been fair of late, will need early room, unlikely to get it with 6 also coming across with the 8.
Should be a good betting race if we get the 1 and the 4,8,9 run according to the ratings.

Yes I have backed half my wager on #5 early, and then half again right before close.

And have Trifecta combo's with only #1 winning.

#2 is strong and will benefit from ability to run on strong outwide.

Thanks. How are things with you?

I've split my wagering into Overlays + S/R for certain scenarios. Has made a big difference to the dry spells. And the way I handicap, still means I have to capture those big hits for it to be sustainable. Because let's face it, I'm still arrogant in the way I handicap and differ from Joe on some races massively, and they can be $0 collects from reasonably outlay.

Although this time around the Top Rating is performing quite well. So happy with that consistency.

See how we go for the next 200races.

I've posted a few races these past two months.

I'm going to start a $10 challenge. I will also post the bets on here (placed on S-TAB) post race to show where the balance is at.

Here are the simple rules.

1) Wagering an overlay. (all based on fixed odds S-TAB)
We use the Kelly Criterion calculation to formulate our $$ spent on the overlay. Once you have done the kelly X that number by $20 and it will give you your wagering size and round to the nearest 50c (if it rounds to $0, then it's not a bet). We will only wager when an overlay exists on a runner that is rated under $10.

2) Exacta
For every runner that is rated under $10 that is an overlay we will place $2 on an Exacta for that overlay to win with the top rating selection to come 2nd. If the Top Rating is an overlay, it is simply $2 exacta on 1-2 rating.

3) Trifecta
Whatever amount is left over after the Win/Exacta bet. We will place a bet Overlay-Top Rating - Field for a Flexi. The bet will be $1 each.

Some races we won't spend our $10 of course, and on the odd race, we may go slightly over. But we should go close to $10 a race.

I would expect to make 5-10% Return on Investment.
At least this way it makes the markets more meaningful.

Well there will be plenty of value about in that type of race, class drawn in difficult boxes. And the 1 who typically likes Sandown drawn Box 1 to keep them all out wide anyway. Perhaps the 5 can lead here and and get some luck then, But 1 looks best value for my eyes, even though not a wagering race.

Yes interesting race now with the 10 drawn the inside, reliable beginner in this field and will want to drift off a little on the entrance to the turn, with nothing on its inside, one would think improvement to come for sure. Can run around the 24.40 which is enough to place highly if race map plays out.

Marcello should keep Goldrush Rose outwide early and will enjoy the room outwide into the bend. Will need to watch for Shady Tex who drifts out to cut into the bend and if Mepunga Billy is on inside, will push many runners wide. I'm not convinved about Superior Bont back at Sale so there is my risk. I have 2+3 in mix simply due to early speed and that 4,6 like to be wide early with 5 only fair out. Gives them best chance to avoid trouble especially since 8 will want to come across.

Tricky Race, but for mine, plenty of value about due to 1,8 odds.

I'll be backing #2,3 E/W this race.

Maybe first few steps, but 5,6 will be coming across hard, and even if Spy leads will be exiting wide at the bend, and taking one with it. Surely the 5,6 can head Spy in this race. For mine, Spy is better suited to bend starts. And get some luck.

Mighty Max Gone has never found any luck here, and for mine will try and get wide at the bend and with 2,3 on outside/inside may get caught up a little. Will peak on the distance for mine too. Definitely believe 2 is good value, will raill up a treat and is strong finisher in the straight.
3 pings and fades late. 8 returned to form, but hard draw against this field to find space. 4 consistent and will get a great sit behind the 1,2,3 and with 6 wanting to get wide and cut into bend, may find some protection out wide.

Basically I'll be on 2,3,4 all for WIN> willing to risk the 1.

Yep absolutely, will be hitting the line hard after railing up on the bend. There won't be a lot of runners on the rail so should get a clear passage through and finish it off.

As you can see I am not overly confident that it should smash this field with the odds rated Believe the 1 is well drawn and the 4 also gets good chance here. 7 is reliable to lead, and if any trouble happens behind will be beneficiary of that.

A race of two halves, 6,7 should be pinging and leading and fading badly. #3 will be slow out and needing luck on rails to storm home #1 is the improver and #4 gets best chance to find rails early and will be the smokey who gets the luck as 6,7 drift off wide at the bend. exit.
