Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

If they had their way they'd build a shed that covers the whole of Victoria square, with surrounding streets devoted to car parking.
If asked about traffic, aesthetics or the historical attachment all South Australians have with the square, the answer would surely be a tear laden rant about where else they could put their bloody shed? They are the Adelaide Crows, after all, and rest of the state can just get out of their ******* way, or get ******* crushed.

Need a hug mate? Bloody hell...
Just telling it as it is.
Before they joined, the SANFL remained a viable alternative to the AFL. Then one day they demanded part of this competition as well, with the basic ultimatum of, "Let us in, or we will **** you over!"
I know you don't want to be following the bad guys, hence the truth will hit a sore spot.
On the other hand, I have followed this forum over the years and read you laughing at those posters who have chosen to give the comp (and possibly football itself) away altogether.
You can't have it both ways.

rinse. repeat. zzzzzz.
Which both ways* do I want it?
All I want is for you quitters to support your team through the good and bad times. SANFL is suffering because you choose to abandon the very club you want to succeed, because the big bad Crows (and Port, but we don't acknowledge them...). They need you more than ever yet you're on an internet forum looking for cheap laughs with your other SANFL cohorts.

I'd argue the SANFL quit on its supporters.

Re: Pro Wrestling Talk

My Wrestlemania thoughts:
-Am currently watching the tremendous NXT Takeover show. These are becoming more of a highlight than the WWE PPVs.
-Bret getting attacked at the Hall of Fame ceremony was horrible. With his health issues that could have gone a lot worse. Poor Bret just can't catch a break
-The Mania stage, which is usually a highlight, was really bland. After getting the same set-up for Raw, Smackdown and almost every PPV, the best they could come up with was a huge screen?
-Hogan made fun of himself for saying the wrong stadium name in his Mania 30 promo. He actually got it a bit wrong this year, saying Metlife Centre instead of Stadium.
-Heyman coming out and getting the title match happening straight away was good, making an interesting way to start the show. With the weak build up, it kind of made sense to run it early in the show. I don't think Rollins winning with a low-blow did him any favours though (although it did set up an eventual rematch).
-AJ vs Orton was fine. The huge pop from the crowd was apparently from the production crew turning off the blinding lights that made it impossible to look at the ring for many fans.
-For a 4-way tag, the tag-title match was good. 14 months ago Nakamura won the Rumble! Ricochet was a stand out, as he normally is.
-Miz vs Shane was done well (I don't recall that type of match with it going into the crowd happening at many Wrestlemanias). That is until the ending; it made no sense that Miz would do a suplex from that height (and the fall looked very weak on a heavily padded surface when the replay was shown).
-The women's tag match was a mess, and on a ridiculously long show it could have been left off. The Aussie girls, who did almost nothing all match, winning the titles made little sense. It sounds like Sasha Banks agrees.
-Kofi vs Bryan was easily match of the night. It didn't seem like this feud was a long-term plan at the start of the year, especially with the way it was booked in the weeks prior with Vince setting up a gauntlet match, and then another one the following week for no reason, was stupid. But despite WWE's efforts to stuff it up, the story told went down a treat. Daniel Bryan was definitely the MVP of the show. He should get some good heat if/when he wins the title back.
-I liked the way Samoa Joe was booked to look like a bad-ass. but a shame it had to be against Rey Mysterio, who deserves better than a 1-minute squash.
-Reigns vs McIntyre was ok. I thought Reigns coming back would have been a good time to freshen up his look, change his entrance song, introduce some new move-sets etc, but no, still the same thing after quite a few years. He'll be back to being heavily pushed (and "boo"ed by crowds) in no time.
-The build-up to HHH vs Batista made no sense, with Batista attacking Flair (who he has always talked up/respected) just to get a match with HHH (who he beat every time he faced during their feud a whopping 14 years ago). No surprise it was again HHH's match that was the longest on the show, and like his recent singles Wrestlemania matches it was boring and twice as long as it needed to be. A shame he didn't lose and have to retire (not that anyone thought he would) and just stick to booking great NXT shows.
-I was convinced Undertaker would 'walk with Elias' on the show - a huge shock that he didn't appear. Old-school Cena was a pleasant surprise, was great to see him come out not being all smiley and goofy.
-I hated everything about Kurt's retirement match against f'n Brian Corbin.
-Demon Balor winning the IC title was fine, but WWE don't seem to know what they want to do with Finn. He was far better as a heel in Japan - might be time to give that a go.
-The build-up to the main event was a couple months of mess, but the girls definitely should still have been the main event. Their entrances were cool. Being a 3-way was going to make it difficult to have a classic, as was the tired crowd (apparently it was after midnight when the match started!). Becky didn't really shine in the match like she should have, and the horribly booked & executed ending ruined it a fair bit, but it was certainly not from a lack of effort. A Rousey vs Lynch match would be huge and could headline next year's show (especially considering that there are not many men's match-ups that could at this stage).
-7/10 overall for me for this year's show. It kept me awake on what was a very late night watching it all after work.

Re: 2020 SANFL Grand Final North v Eagles

Life is good with footy results on the weekend.
SANFL season 2020 was the purest and most important to be contested for a very, very, long time.
No AFL reserves influence, players not being paid, just playing on passion and heart.
Eagles gave a 3 goal head start to the Adelaide oval, finals, specialists, with a massive crowd advantage and a week off to rest.
Turns out the Eagles turned on the most potent, high scoring quarter of footy in any game this season, let alone a final, let alone a grand final.
So many good players for the Eagles. Some Highlights……….
Foote – simply brilliant, and deadly accurate. 4 goals from a midfielder in a GF.
Toumpas – highest disposal game and presented well with a big improvement on 2 weeks ago.
Angus – best finals game saved for the big stage – 2 goals in 2 minutes, checkside beauty right in front of us.
Redds, playing under duress, set up so many clearances with his centre square taps, especially in 2nd quarter.
Luke Thompson – cool and calm, repelled many attacks
McNeil – silky smooth pace and nice goal during the avalanche.
Rowe – despite a tight defender still snagged 2.
Lowson telling his opponent to look at the scoreboard after slotting a tight angle goal
Some lowlights
Cocky cocks fans – check out @shitadelaide for a quality North fan now going viral. Not social media viral either. Queens head efforts from north fans who left early.
North number 9 – serial sniper seemed to concuss himself with an attempt at hurting an opponent with his head.

Number 1 theme for north continuing in a bad, bad way.
1 (One) Goal Grand Final – 89
1 – guernsey number of Wigg (clearly best for north…..but)
1 – total of Jack Oatey medal votes, for the whole North Adelaide team, earned by Harrison, (Eagles Team collectively awarded 47 votes from the 8 judges)
“Double 1” numbered player – Allmond, diving and getting an absolute bath – trademark pathetic GF effort from him
1 – number of clubs Schwarz played for before becoming a quitter and refusing to play reserves, and having Daddy CEO pressure the coach to play league for the Eagles. (actually he would have fitted right in to your reserves losing team)
1 gutless elbow drop from North number four early on, missing its mark

And I guess there was plenty of Karma for the cheating and gloating in 2018.
Eagles reserves defeating North
Eagles League team conceding a 3 goal headstart, then it must have then felt like the Eagles had 22 players on the field in that devastating, match winning, premiership deciding, second quarter of Gold, green and Blue.
There is a good youtube highlights package of this. Sound was not working today with North’s QC’s apparently injuncting any sound of the bawling of the north fans during the onslaught.

Go You Mighty Eagles – 2020 Reserve and League Champions.
Chimney tomorrow, last ever, saving the best colours till last!!!!!!!!

Don’t you have to be above the age of 18 to post on here?

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

This is ******* bullshit.
Every time there is a case it is now standard procedure to throw a state into lockdown. Then it takes a few months to return to where that state was before the lockdown with regards to the "rules"
It seems to me that everytime a state gets close to full freedom another "case" magically appears.

If people cant see this has nothing to do with health by now i dont think they ever will.
One fng case, please,

This is the CCP reaction to losing the belt and road in Victoria, get their other puppet to cause chaos.

If it's not about health, what is it about then?

Its about controlling your life, taking away freedoms little by little.
Health passports are on the way, make no mistake, have a look at how people are controlled in China.
Also be prepared for the possibility of a lockdown in SA this weekend. I believe the State of Emergency runs out at beginning of May. Without the SOE they can not put the experimental vaccine into anyone.
The WA SOE ran out last Friday and surprise surprise there's a "case"
The QLD lockdown was also at the time the SOE ran out.
Surely more and more people are starting to see the scam that it is.

So it's the government trying to control us? I don't see how any government has benefited from Covid.

Re: 2021 SANFL Grand Final WWT Eagles v Glenelg Sunday 3pm

After 30 years of almost always making the finals but only winning a few premierships, the Eagles have certainly got it all together in the past 2 years, with 2 one-sided grand final wins in a row. The fact that their coach has re-signed, and how well they seem to replace departing players, suggests they are likely to be on top for quite a while.

Re: I need to know....

Got crashed into and my car was written off.

Looks almost impossible to get a brand new car in our price range, certain size and availability that's not too far away.

Anyone here bought/had an MG? It's one of the very few brands that can be available by the end of the year.

Drove an MG around Perth last weekend, good car and would consider getting one, although air con struggled and it was only 25 degrees!

I’m driving one now in Brisbane for work.
Looks great but drives shit house.
No guts when accelerating.

Test drove one on Saturday morning. Liked it but also did not like the lack of power when I put my foot down (also found the indicator on the left hand side to be annoying).

We actually found a brand-new i30 (which was my previous car, just an older model) available in Murray Bridge, which had only arrived a couple days prior (still had a heap of covering/plastic on it, which got a few looks from people who we went past when taking it for a test drive). Really liked it, so we now have a new car that we can pick up this Friday. Very, very lucky; most are a 4-6 month wait at least.

Thanks again for the replies.

Re: SANFL 2023 season

Before 2014, Crows and Power claimed that having reserves sides was integral to the development of their players, and that the AFL sides who had reserves sides had an advantage over them.
It only took Crows 8 years to win 2 premierships, and Power 8 years to win 1, while they both had their 'reserves players' spread amongst the SANFL clubs.
In the 9 seasons since they have have their own separate reserves teams in the SANFL, Crows have only had 1 AFL GF appearance and Power have had no AFL GF appearances.
