Re: 2014 AFL All Australian Team

Priddis LOL. Gets a nom for being a consistent player over a long period. Lots of the pill but how effectively did he use it? A strong second half of the season gets him over the line, the same for Ellis. No probs with Ward or Libba's gong.

Re: AFL Finals - week # 3.

Thompson is so much better when he doesn't engage with Franklin. He has the ability to beat him to the footy.
Thompson got a bath by Hawkins last week, I expect Buddy to kick atleast 5 on him tonight

Yes, because he tried to initiate contact against the strongest forward in the comp.
His closing speed and jump is his strength. Body to body, no good.

What everyone think of melhams ride on dissident? I would've preferred to keep the big boy rolling 3 wide rather than ease him back and take away a stayers/middle distant momentum. In saying that think he was probably a pass mark for future races. 1200m definitely not ideal. Good barrier trial. Prolly reasonable coin for running an average 3rd

The Moonee Valley curse. Plenty of very good horses beaten by average horses at that track.

Re: Things that you rate!

An older bloke I met last night at a house warming.

65 years of age and walks in to our backyard cricket game from no where and snatches the bat of the bloke batting. 3rd ball smashes a huge, flat straight drive 25 metres and hits a 70 year old grand mother in the head. Tells the bowler "you're shit" and then hands the bat to a 12 year old kid and tells us all "**** this shit I'm going to watch the soccer".

Re: Sack Chuck

Is their any proof that the standard of grade cricket instertate is much better than here? its a good debate but plenty of variables

Apart from our inability to regularly produce competent First Class cricketers for the last 20 years or so, none.

It may not be better, but the pitches are totally different. Not flat, dead roads, where the quicks and medium pacers have the keeper up after the 30th over and the ball doesn't get over waist height.
All this does is create front shoe bullies, where the pitch doesn't change and batsmen can bat with very little risk all day.
Probably why we get rolled on 4th day pitches in Shield Matches where there is variable bounce.

Re: Round 9 dribble

How are Port $1.32 against Melbourne?

Because Melbourne are rubbish against the better sides. Port despite their current form are still one of the better sides.

So with my tipping form this year, Melbourne should be a shoe in... :?

Melbourne challenged Port twice last year and that was without Hogan. Meanwhile Port lost Trengove last week and he's a massive out for them if he doesn't come up. Hogan could prove to be a menace.

regards,

REB

All Hogan has to do is move, at slightly quicker than walking speed and he should have Alipate covered.

Re: West Coast Eagles Season 2015

Looking at the west coast wins and its not as impressive as their record suggests. Dont get me wrong i understand you can only beat who you're drawn to play but a soft draw helps. They have lost to the dogs in round 1 in a tight one and also to freo. They have beaten
Carlton (18), gold coast (17), brisbane (16), st kilda (14), port (12), geelong (11) and their bunnies GWS in perth. Granted Port was here and that was a mammoth effort but nothing else gets me too excited about that list...

I think once they start to play some more of the better sides they'll get found out and will probably scrape into somewhere between 5th-8th come sepetmber...

Who would you class as the better sides, outside Hawks, Freo and Sydney?
We play Nth, Ess and Richmond before the bye.
Hawkins made a mess of Schofield, and no doubt at some stage the loss of MacKenzie and Brown will catch up to us.
We are going along better then I expected with who we lost at the start of the year, but it's our style of footy we are playing which is exciting to watch and I like I said in another thread, we almost have the best draw out of any team.

Re: ATCA 2014/15.

The vote was held last night to formally wind up AHOSCC and was approved. Great memories from a club that at its peak was one of the leaders in ATCA. Thanks to all of our past players, officials, supporters opponents and umpires for the great contests and times on and off the field. Thanks also to all involved in ATCA and the organisation of the competition. If anyone would like to reminisce about better times, we are planning a official club farewell at the Prince Albert Hotel on the evening of Friday 11th September, which is also the 37th anniversary of our foundation - all are welcome.

Sad times. No one likes to see sporting clubs have to make decisions like this.

Re: Another little one...Round 12

That free against Rance for throwing it back to the umpire "with force" even though he caught it was beyond a joke

One of about 6 absolutely embarrassing decisions made tonight.
West Coast were very good tonight. Should have never won that match. 3 games in 13 days, against a team coming off a 13 day break.
All those haters of Nic Nat, go crawl under a rock. Previous seasons of scattered footy and injuries. Now, such an asset any team would want. Only Ruckman in the comp that can change the game in 1 quarter of footy.
