Re: Do we need SANFL reserves???

Firstly any increase in the salary cap anything like suggested could eventually be the death nell to some clubs to me.
The more some clubs can spend the more they will.
No reserves grade would weaken the league comp IMHO,and could be a big help to the AFL reserves teams with their
big money professional preparation.
There is nothing wrong with the current competition, except the inclusion of the crows and power last year,
I have a feeling they will disappear soon went THEY want to.
The amateurs beat the pros in the GF,remember.
Norwood just have the best junior development program, other clubs just need to catch up on.
They lost over 50 league players in the last 3/4 years and still win the big one.
The comp is not broken so why fix it.
Yes we need a SANFL reserves comp.

Re: Rnd 3- Port v North Saturday, 12.10

To my mind handball and especially not surprising, kicking skills win football matches.
Norwood still have the edge in these areas hence their continued success.
Until other teams wake up and catch up in junior skill coaching and development the red legs will stay in front of the field.
It's early but I notice Norwood are easily leading the U 16 comp again!
Keep working on those skills.

Re: State Game Updates

What a complete waste of a perfect day for footy in Adelaide.
Why,
Not as if the teams needed a break and are weary ,
my league team has only played 6 games!
gone soft I reckon compared to previous generation.
Wake up SANFL.

Re: SANFL Player Movements - 2015 / 2016

Good comment
The Port people, what is left if them, hardly turn up at Alberton any more.
Another SANFL puzzle,
why do they program any games there at all?
A good reason to assist troubled clubs with another home game with extra income.
Another strange SANFL planning decision indeed.

Re: 1197am RPH Adelaide SANFL Coverage

Personally I listened in every week on the AM band even if I was attending their game.
Really enjoyed DB and his mates.
Again I can't understand some decisions or non decisions of the SANFL around promotion of the game.
They just don't understand supporters needs.
Supporters want to go to the footy EVERY week with supporting media coverage.
Paper and radio.
5 byes etc, etc, with little business acumen in every direction to me.
The cost to get this radio coverage up would be minimal, probably less than the printing cost of those cups.
Who cares about paper cups.
They aren't listening to the people AGAIN,and just don't get it.

Re: R4: Norwood v Glenelg - Friday 15 April @ Coopers

Wasted footy opportunities,
like last week or next week if your club has a bye.
5 weekends during the season with no footy.
Believe it or not,
that's the SANFL for you.
Let's hope it gets fixed eventually.
Hopefully someone who cares will see the light = footy season means footy matches every weekend.

Re: Saturday April no League footy why?

With no coverage on radio or TV,
so many byes and no Saturday footy,
supporters are forgetting to go to the footy on ANZAC day!
Just over 3000 at Adelaide Oval today incredible.
Has this game ever drawn such a tiny crowd in history?
The SANFL are forgetting why they are there.

Re: Save the Tigers

IMHO the 5 byes are reducing interest in the competition for sure.
As some say is there footy on this week or the week after!
I think it is the footy season.
Can't see why everyone including the clubs and the SANFL can't see it.

Also can't see how the Bay's can go broke given I thought they owned 1/8 of football park including the retired oval and all the land attached?
Can anyone explain please?
What is the SANFL Debt please?

Re: R11 - Norwood v Adelaide @ Coopers

Did the SANFL forget to program a game today,it is Saturday in the footy season.
I certainly know they love to program byes and also waste Saturdays the best day for matches.
No wonder most clubs struggle with income and attendees.

Re: Save the Tigers

I've got an idea to help all clubs cash flow.
Do away with the 5 byes and play footy,
get supporters and sponsors to 5 more games and create enjoyment and much needed income!
5 games every week.
To me that is so simple?
Let us see what the league program holds in 2017.

Re: Rumour re Media Cover

It will make a few current followers happy and keep some of these away from games in Winter.
It will not grow the game to anyone new.
The supporter base of all clubs is aging, paid attendees and full members are falling
The biggest challenge of the SANFL is to get new people interested and attending games.
Remember the print media is just about dead for the SANFL.
Perhaps the far thinking clubs could/should radio broadcast their own games,
like the A3 ammo club streaming their games for free, that's initiative and business building.
A radio broadcast with support from club sponsors would not be high cost.
If one savy clubs starts you never know.
Surely a win win situation.
If you do nothing,nothing happens!

Re: Rumour re Media Coverage

Can't see why we need finals double headers and then have to play them at the Adelaide oval.
SANFul should seriously look at the ammos finals system, a better suburban/community feel.
Eventually they will change but as usual a bit slow with the obvious.

Re: Round 18

Apart from the GF,
nowadays finals should be played in the suburbs and not as double headers.
The time has passed for this old thinking/ strategy.
Crowds will bomb again at AO as most followers will leave after the first game.
Time to create some suburban atmosphere with promotion and much needed income.
Maybe next year we will see a change.

We only play 18 games in 23 weeks.
Increase the number of games played in these 5 weeks,
more home games for every club should result in increased profit for very club.

or am I missing something?

Some SANFL clubs and the Ammos have far better sites.
If the league runs competitions they should include all the historical data,
just another gap in their performance.
Perhaps they could have a look at it during their 6 months off

Re: SANFL Clubs

Removing the reserves comp would see another nail in the SANFL coffin to me.
Watch the crowds, income, standard and members numbers fall further.
It will drive U16 and U18 school boys being selected.
(Playing against AFL standard players).
Some weaker clubs will load up on the above kids when they can’t make finals.
Ammos clubs will probably say no, especially with key contract players and toward their finals.
A slippery slope.
At the moment the AFL crowd need a reserves team, why not the SANFL?
