Actually getting a bat in a game yesterday, and spending some time in the middle. Vets game today, so long as the weather holds out, will be another opportunity. Captaining today so if I win the toss, we will bat & I will open.

Perth this time next week for the Vets Carnival..... can't wait!

Re: Things that you are looking forward to

Winning a game of cricket over in Perth..... we have not batted well either day, and I won't hang shit on our bowlers, but I wouldn't mind facing them in a game!

Fired LBW again yesterday, hit me high up on the back thigh..... oh well stiff I guess - 24 off 37 balls and hitting them clean.

Sandgropers today and sounds like I am batting 6 or 7, which does not thrill me, but its a team game so suck it up princess!

Re: Things that you rate!

The week I have had over in Perth.

Met some cracking guys, and have enjoyed playing 4 days of competitive cricket, followed by more than a few cold beers at the end of play. Played on a couple of very good grounds, and one very poor one, the deck yesterday was awful, no other way to describe it. Copped a rough lbw decision, and a dubious one as well, also got bowled by part timer, and played a poor shot to get out yesterday. Overall disappointed with my personal contribution to the team, and our team only winning 1 of 4 games. The div 1 Vics took out the championship, beating the Sandgroppers on the WACA yesterday. Enjoyed the celebrations on the ground post game. Next year these championships come to Adelaide, like to think I will be in the mix for selection again.

Followed by a few overpriced beers at the Test Friday?
No, busy working
Its a day night test...surely an evening session could be an option?
Flying back at 6.30pm, to be honest I had forgotten all about the test match.
Busy weekend back here too..... cricket Saturday, then fly to Shanghai on Sunday...... back in time for the 2nd week of the match!

Re: BBL 2019/20

*yawn*
Like it or not I'd hardly call it boring.

I'm not a huge fan but watch it because it is still cricket, good to see the big hits, the desperate fielding and the bowlers trying to find different ways to be economical.
My thoughts exactly, the fielding in particular is usually very good and fielding in T20 has helped evolve the game for the better.
Not saying there isn't any skills on display, and I agree on the point re fielding, that has permeated its way through to the longer versions of the game. T/20 just doesn't hold my attention anymore. Test cricket different story, will watch every ball.

Re: Things that you are looking forward to

Some holidays soon. Finish up on Monday lunchtime off to the pub. Xmas day in Melbourne as daughter is working until 10pm Xmas eve. Boxing Day eat leftovers and pack the car. 27th that bloody drive back to Adelaide. Then staying over for a week, catch up with my son, see a couple of his games T/20’s, before flying back to Melbourne Jan 5th. Mrs C staying on as we prepare to sell our old house... that’s a bit sad, but it’s time to move on. Then back to Asia for 2 weeks work end of Jan.....

The good part of all this is all the extra time you get to spend with him.
Yeah, he's a pretty quiet lad, we've covered a lot of ground.

I told him about my trip to Pacific Fair the other day when there were women walking around in their bikini's doing shopping, his reply "were they any good?".

So what did you say?

Re: BBL 2019/20

I'm surprised people are still bothering to criticise the Big Bash

We still have the exact same number of test matches and Shield games in an Australian season as we've always had. We're not missing out on anything

The BBL is an add on. Games on tv each night during the shitty summer tv period. If it's not your thing then just do whatever you did before it existed.
What a pile of shit Clifton!

Are people saying it shouldn't exist? No.
Are people saying they're forced to watch it? No
Does it have benefits? Yes
Does it have a role in Australian Cricket? Yes
Can it be improved? Yes
Do people criticise every other sport and format on this site? Yes.

Geez Louise, maybe we should all just become happy clappers and not talk/comment/post about anything at all on this site .

If you can arrange that, that would be great. Cheers

Dropped 2.8 shots over last 5 or so weeks. Back to 13 after a slump and going through a rocky start to my relationship with the one length!

Re: Made the move to Melbourne.

Time for an update here.....

Well I have been over here for over 3 years now. Mrs C & MIss C for over 2 years. We are on the verge of putting our house back in the Adelaide Hills on the market for sale. Any takers?? It has been a big move for Mrs C..... it is the home we raised our kids in, but she has realized its time to move on. I will miss the old place too.

The home has been rented out for the past 2 years, and we were back over Xmas/New Years just gone cleaning up a few things, including 25 years of "collections" in my shed. I mean, how do you throw out a treasured beer can collection...... not too mention 2 sets of old golf clubs?!?

Like all vendors, hoping for a quickish sale, and to get what we think is a reasonable selling price. The plan then is to "park" our cash for 6/8 months while our rental lease runs down, and then find ourselves a home over here we are happy with, and importantly, can afford!

I'd estimate the market values in Melbourne to be roughly double that of Adelaide. Certainly my home in the Adelaide Hills is worth double in a goodish area of Melbourne. So while I can't afford double the price, to replace "like for like" living in a 3 bedroom townhouse for 3 years has taught us we really don't need the 4 bedroom joint with formal lounge, dining, family, meals PLUS games room anymore. I while I haven't really missed mowing a lawn for 3 years, to have a small one to maintain would be fun again. Not too mention setting up my outdoor area a little better than it currently is.... I mean my Hawks painted wine barrel, with all the premierships listed is under a tarp in my single car garage. Can't wait to spill red wine on it again!

Hoping 2020 is the year we make the home transition, smoothly as possible.

Re: T20 Port Adelaide v Adelaide Bushfire Fundraiser

As mooted by a Twitter user a T20 between Port Adelaide and Adelaide players/officials/sponsors could be a great way to raise funds for the bush fire appeal.

Expect an announcement from Port, Adelaide and the SMA around 2pm this afternoon.
As long as it is not recorded as an official match.

T20's don't count anyway.
I'm sure UK will be disappointed by the crowd.

Re: Port Adelaide 2020

You suspect that they will make the call on this in the next couple of weeks, things would have to dramatically improve quickly for them to even consider going ahead with the match.

I can't see it going ahead in Shanghai this year. There's no way that players, support staff, administration, media, sponsors and supporters would be given the all clear to head over.
That will be very disappointing for the Shanghai based supporters group I guess....
