Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

I’m sitting in Brisbane airport right now.
I couldn’t find a seat/table to eat my sushi so I went and stood next to a table of asians wearing face masks.
They took one look at me, saw I’m not wearing a mask and they all got up and left.
Whole table to myself now.

They hired a mini-bus and drove to Sydney and attempted to fly back to the US. AFP stopped them at the airport. 4 of them work in the medical profession.

I hoped they get slapped with massive fines. Throw em in jail for a few months

Re: Are you ok?

Yes I think I made mention that our issues were insignificant compared to everything else going on right now. Nonetheless it’s disconcerting. I think Mrs C reaction was a cumulative affect of everything, including our son in isolation.

If the past few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that things can move very quickly in a short amount of time.

Long story short, today we commissioned our own report on our property and the result was the polar opposite of what we had heard this time yesterday.

Suffice to say, we are breathing a little easier now, than this time yesterday.

Still some way to go yet.

Thanks for the messages of support our little community on here is a great support network.

This whole lockdown stuff is to protect primarily the older generation. Fair call yeah.

Today I go up as one person to our Woolworths, drive down the Main Street and it’s full of oldies with no care in the world for social distancing. Hugs a plenty, sitting on the benches together, most looked liked tourists.
You would have thought it was Easter holidays!

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

Anyone on here still working from/at their normal employment?

I’ve been working from home for 3 weeks now.
Busy as but still bored shitless at the same time.
Yep I am. Bored as bat shit. I could work from home if I want to, but I don't trust myself. I'd be too easily led astray and would end up doing **** all.
Same, I'd get on the piss at noon and have 4 lunch breaks.
I am starting earlier in the mornings, like 7.00am. Basically get up, log in, make a cuppa, take one to Mrs C in bed - she is on school holidays now. Get to about 9.30 - 10.00am, then go have a shower etc. I am actually taking a lunch break. I normally eat at my desk (when in the office) and keep going. But I am sitting outside and taking in some vitamin D. Trying to stick to a basic exercise scheme each day. I have on a few days, snuck a cheeky beer in around 4.00pm.... while starting to wrap up for the day. I generally am pulling the pin by 4.30/5.00pm, which is normal for me.

Instead of the normal chats you have in an office with colleagues, I am finding a few minutes to clean up, take rubbish out etc. Even to give the eyes a rest for a while.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

Looking at world statistics, here in Australia we are doing a good job. The worry for me is, flu season in the height of winter is yet to hit. I think we need to keep going through May, so we are even better placed in June, July & August to protect the vulnerable.

Without getting political I think both federal and state governments are doing a bloody good job. I live in Melbourne with a labour government (not my side of politics) but I have a new level of respect for Dan Andrews he has been damn good.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

SA Update :

The ACH College Grove Facility ( 58 bed ) is now on line and ready for use if required.

National cabinet meets tomorrow to discuss the lifting of restrictions on elective surgery.

0 new cases today, 3 days in a row of no new cases.

968 tests done yesterday, 1000 on Saturday. Nearly 2000 on Thursday and Friday combined.

If you are in the 20-30 year old age bracket SA Health are calling for you to come forward for testing if you have any symptoms of cold or fever.

85% ( 369 ) recovered, only 62 active cases in the state.

6 in hospital. 2 in ICU, both critical.

That's great news for SA......and so long as it continues, I think SA should and will be a test case for the rest of the country, lift restrictions in SA, keep the borders closed for now..... and see what happens. If there is no community transmission then, SA has beaten it.

Plenty of dickheads here in Vic (no surprise I know) breaking the rules, and the boys in blue are handing oit plenty of fines. I knob has racked up 5 fines for breaking the rules in 3 or 4 days.... what a brain surgeon he must be!

We have a long way to go....... but hopefully the rest of the country can catch up to SA, and slowly begin to relax restrictions.

Brings me to what happens when we as a country beat this thing, in terms of opening up our international borders.

Surely we only open up initially to other countries who have beaten it, and the absolute last country we open up to, and allow back in is China. Don't care if they've beaten it, lock the pr!cks out.

If China wants to keep wet markets, knock yourselves out, eat all the bats you want.... but be effed if you are coming down here with it.

My 2 cents.

Our over 50’s Vic team was skippered by a traffic cop close to those tragically killed in the line of duty last night. Anzac dawn at home.

We lit candles and stood at the end of the drive way.

Initially we were the only ones out.

Slowly other households emerged, some with candles, some without.

In the distance we could hear magpies and birds greeting the arrival of dawn.

Then faintly, ever so faintly, the hint of a bugle.

We stood fast.

Lest we forget.
