Re: CH9AFL Division 5, 2016

your words not mine so don't try & twist a simple rumour. onions has already denied from CLG end but nothing from heccies as yet & this is where the rumour has originated from. I've just put it out there to establish fact from fiction.
Interesting coming from someone who originates from Broughton.

Re: CH9AFL DIvision 4 2016

so if towns playing in the SFL would be = Div 2/3 SAAFL and are put in 4 are they being given an assimilation period to successfully re-establish themselves in a perceived easier division rather than higher where they should be, not forgetting they pulled out of the SAAFL causing the whole 9 team in balance previously, so should they be granted any favours?

Maybe it was where a gap was that could be filled with an easy fix.

gap filled seaton down to 4 & Edwardstown into 3 easy fix

Re: CH9AFL Division 6 2016

Returning premiership player, wanting to come back to play with some mates. Only left to show respect to John Beer, which i admire him for.. Always said he'd be back and we are very happy to have his 70 odd goals back too. Something we definitely lacked last season.

250 reasons a game to be back with some mates ;)

Re: CH9AFL Division 6 2016

maybe going to Div 4 was going to be to much of a challenge for some of these players and not as committed to para hills or dedicated to the training required, so opted out going to lower divisions

Re: CH9AFL DIvision 4 2016

PH released coach as he was seen as reason players were leaving and once gone players will return. He's now gone and still the clearances are being lodged, word is remaining players will have to play 2 games to ensure no forfeit, think this is just unviable and common sense should prevail and they should go down a div to re-group if they can or may have to go to 1 team to totally rebuild.
if they stay in 4 they are going to be on the record end of some mighty beatings, good % booster for those that get to play them, bad for those that get a forfeit.

Re: CH9AFL DIvision 4 2016

reckon Para Hills won't even get to R1 with a side
Agreed. From what people are saying around the Para Hills area, they've already closed the doors on Seniors 2k16
Go get what's left then.
Not much left :lol:

reckon zartan will be there Tuesday night with a sign stating training venue changed to ingle farm until further notice, they might as well half the others are already there :lol:

From 1960-1968 there was a football club known as Para-Houghton (obviously affiliated with neighbouring Paracombe), but maybe it's time we returned to those golden years with a merger with Para Hills!

you would finally get some juniors :)

Re: CH9AFL Divison 3 2016

Not much banter about footy to date so time to tackle the serious issue facing players and spectators alike and that is the quality of home game BBQ's.
so I'll rate what I've had to date based on the following scoring criteria of 2 points for timing, organisation & condiments, 2 points for value for money, 2 points for selection, 2 points for service and 2 points for taste giving a total of 10 points achievable.

Mitcham = 5
Kilburn = 7
Seaton = 7
Athelstone = 8

looking forward to tasting your BBQ soon!

Re: CH9AFL Divison 3 2016

golden grove BBQ = 6 have to wait waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long, quicker to drive down to mackas & back

Looking at the result I'm surprised you didn't duck off....

always good times and bad times in every club, I'm sure you've experienced that as well and what sort of supporter would I be to duck off in times of need?

Re: CH9AFL Divison 3 2016

gepps cross BBQ = 8, couple of oldies running it & more than happy to accommodate if they were out of something, nothing was to much trouble to go & get more eggs or bacon or whatever & did it from the c grade game right through to nearly the end of the az.

Re: 2016 C9AFL Div 7

"ok boys everybody in now"

"firstly bad luck on not being selected for the b-grade side, youre all playing cgrade this week"

"to make things better for you (guys that arent good enough to make bgrade side) we're going to be playing salisbury west agrade!!! so congrats lads"

"oh also you have to pay to play, i think most of SW boys are being paid to play too, but try to forget that"

"so hows that lads whos keen for a big win this week, whoohoo!!" :roll:

don't hear other c grade side whinging when their a grade are in div 4 for example yet their c grade are in c3 against div 1, 2 & 3 c grade sides and this example goes right through the c grade comps or are you just happy when the odds are in your favour?

Re: New Clubs for 2017

will be hard what ever the decision but why should they come in at a lower grade and potentially dominate winning easy flags going up the ranks, an assessment should be done as far as reasonably practicable now while their playing to see what grade they realistically should slot in and then maybe they go a grade higher, if they struggle they get relegated if not then they are in the correct grade.
May give loyal saafl sides that are continually struggling finishing 8th a chance to go down a grade, regroup and then come back up with momentum.
Div 4 seems to be the guinea pig grade being middle of the road why should existing sides be disadvantaged by potentially better sides being placed there dominating for the season. As every knows premiership windows are often very small and existing sides that have worked hard to get there may miss their opportunity for glory because of it.

Re: CH9AFL Divison 3 2016

so now we are at the pointy end of the season and all the club BBQ's have been sampled it's time to list the final standings again based on scoring criteria of 2 points for timing, organisation & condiments, 2 points for value for money, 2 points for selection, 2 points for service and 2 points for taste giving a total of 10 points achievable.

9 = Walkerville - being an unbiased assessment as they really do meet the above scoring criteria
8 = Gepps Cross - very close second the oldies running it were fantastic
8 = Athelstone - very close second just lacking on the condiments
7 = Kilburn - bit of a worry when you hand over a fifty and the tatted up bikey looking dude at Kilburn says "is this keep the change?"
7 = Flinders Park - real steak but no bacon & limited selection
7 = Seaton - get your BBQ but have to walk around to the canteen for mustard and salt & pepper etc
6 = Golden Grove - just the waiting time that down graded their score
4 = Mitcham - very limited selection
4 = Plympton - with a triple header started late & not much selection & ran out of items
2 = Pembroke - just poor on service, value for money & really don't meet many of the listed criteria

Just glad with 3 home games left I'm in for a good feed for the rest of the season!

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017

good to see hills back up and running not good to see any club fold but the whole folding episode was a direct result of their own internal poor management and now it seems they will be rewarded for poor management by starting in a lower division with a very healthy playing list, welcoming back players that deserted which contributed to their downfall in the first place.
I say if they are in Div 7 and the league can't think of a viable solution, then players on their list that stayed true to the club should be allowed back, players that did a runner also welcomed back but are now worth points this will ensure some form of restriction and keep the competition even and yes their B grade will probably dominate if this is adopted but would be interesting to see if players returning are doing so with the clubs best interest at heart or still following the $$$$

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017

The only issue I have would be that there would be a fair few great club people that decided to have a kick and a catch in 2016 for another club (like all the guys that helped us out) that would get punished through no fault of their own.

introduce 2 classifications BC & AD with BC being Before Collapse and AD being After Demise, players that cleared to other clubs BC attract points, players in the AD category nil points :)

an 11 team Div 6 comp also has merits but whatever happens I think the powers to be need to review the situation as the one is now impacting the many :evil:

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017

it's simple really, poor committee management and lack of player loyalty led to them folding, players jump ship ship chasing coin but some stayed loyal.
pretty easy solution, those that stayed and played at other clubs after they folded return no penalty, those that jumped ship from November 2015 through to March 2016 return but attract points on a sliding scale for the next 3 seasons or until they are back in Div 5 where they were before it all went pear shape.
To believe that all these coin chasers are returning to the club out of the goodness of their hearts for no money either contradicts their greedy natures or it is again another case of poor committee management and decisions by the club to welcome back with open arms the same group of individuals that jumped out of the canoes and took their paddles and left them in this situation just beggars belief :shock: .
IMHO i think the powers to be do need to intervene and implement a fair handicap to them
