People forget Nick was on the side of a pokies Baron against a sporting club many years ago, most forget but I don't. Hypocrite much?
Some people including the media love his little games but it doesn't impress me, probably the last bloke I'd vote for at any level.

No,no,no you're wrong Wedgie lad. Troy McLure, sorry Nick Xenophon, is the dinkum article. A man of true integrity.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

After watching the ladies AFL match last night I'm betting that the Flagstaff Hill under 14 team could beat both of the ladies team together. Can't believe they are spending millions on this .

They don't see them as females, just a marketable commodity. The same as us blokes, but the female footy market is an as yet largely untapped one for Gillon. There's more money for the AFL to be made in getting them involved/playing/watching/spending $ rather than sinking cash into the men's game when they already have the blokes investing in their product anyway. From a purely business perspective it makes sense. As a footy tragic, I think this is bollocks.

Re: Your top 5 cricket books

Just had to box up my cricket books as I'm rebuilding the back room. Counted 380 and I reckon there's a couple inside the house. Plus a few Tour Guides and a 40-50 magazines. The missus ain't happy, yet guess what I get for Father's Day and my birthday from the kids?

We've just done some painting/recarpeting which required things to be moved around the house - a book shelf full of cricket books being one of them. The heavy hints came, but I repulsed them. It has got me thinking, though...

Don't give in lad.

Re: Australian tour of India 2017

Since when did the Australian batsmen and all batsmen around the world become pussy cats about spin bowling? When did it change from being afraid of pace bowlers to being afraid of spinners? The ball is travelling about an average of 80kms an hour and your grandma with half vision in her left eye still has time to smack it. Grrr. It's only spin. Watch the ball. Use your feet well and smack the f#@k out of it.

Anyone?

One of our best wins OS for a long time. Unfortunately with such a comprehensive win they will go with the same 11 next test

Tough call to drop anyone but the dumber Marsh brother has to go.
Bye Bye Mitch.

Indians will produce another turner next test.

Mong Marsh probably played his best Test innings in the 2nd dig but he's a deadset liability. Some exceptional individual performances have deflected attention away from his crapness. Bring in Khawaja for Christsake.

Starcs injury the reason why Sayers didn't bowl today?
Doubt it, Bird is over there and would be next in line I'd think.
Knowing the selectors though they will want a bowler that can handle a bat so Cummins or Patto should have their passports ready
BINGO!
Cummins has been selected as Starc's replacement and will fly out tomorrow

What chance is there he gets injured on the flight over? Those bags of peanuts can be a bastard to open.

Re: RIP Dragan Tankosic

Sad news passed on to me today by a mate.
Gentle Giant Tanka passed away earlier this week aged 55.
Not a household name but he played some footy for Woodville & West Torrens in the early 80s.
Those that played SAFA in the late 80s early 90s would be well aware of who he was, big strong CHF for Pooraka that always had your back.
Was a pleasure knowing you and getting to play so many great games of footy with ya.
RIP big fella, the Bulls will be in force in a few days time.
Radar.

Everyone who followed the SANFL in that era knew of Dragan Tankosic, the name stuck out like dogs aggats.

Re: Australian tour of India 2017

Every time i see Renshaw do alright I cant help but shake my head that CA considered leaving him out for Marsh to open this series.. he's shown what in form batsmen can do - regardless of left hand or right hand, which is why Khawaja should be playing as well!

Problem with Khawaja was he had a bad reputation against spin and then got out horribly to spin in the tour match for nothing

100% agree rocketeer. Don't take him on tour, may as well have taken Head or a kid for the experience if they had no intention of playing him.

Re: Australian tour of India 2017

Smith has now levelled up with Mark Taylor in test centuries (19)
He's done it in 51 less test matches than Tubby.

Interesting stat that. He's long, long way away from being anywhere near Tubby as a skipper, hopefully the gap closes with time. I reckon Tubs would rather have started his career against a Smudger era Windies than the one he faced.

The gap will close a long way if they win this series! This will be more impressive than Taylor's 1995 West Indies win. And Border's 1989 Ashes victory.

Maybe, I'm from a different era, that Ashes win was like winning lotto for a cricket nuffie back then. AB is our version of a cricketing deity. Without him in the mid to late 80's we were completely fu***d. Not the tactically best skipper we've had but he saved Australian cricket from complete ruin.

Id never put a radio on in a pub but can quite easily have my phone on muted.

In 86 the bloke who worked for me got married on the 2nd semi final, most of the people attending were from Kapunda & the west coast, almost all North barrakers. The racket that went up after every goal while the ceremony was on shit the bride no end.
My own wedding was on Cox Plate day, could just hear the priest over the earphones listening to the Group 1's.
Moral of the story..........Take at least a mild interest in your wedding preparations.......
My folks were getting married GF day 1973 - when the Bays made it, Dad postponed the wedding a week
Still together 44 years on

Women aren't as forgiving as they once were in the day! ;)
