Re: R 18 Port v South Saturday 1405

Given the abuse he use to cop week in and week out why would he want to play again at the magpies?

Seriously, I think he is a good clubman who just likes playing footy. He certainly helped CDFC last year - without him agreeing to play again after Daniel Menzel was injured I don't think we would have got the draw against West or beaten Norwood.

Re: RIP Barry Norsworthy

Unfortunately Barry suffered a huge heart attack over the weekend & couldn't be saved.
He may have been short in stature but was huge in courage & determination.
Made his league debut in 1969,
club leading goalkicker in 1974 & 1975,
represented SA against Tassie & Victoria,
Best & Fairest in 1976,
runner up Magarey Medal in 1977,
had a stint with Melbourne between 1977 & 1979, then returned to Central,
attained playing life membership in 1980,
158 league matches, 178 goals,
One of our best ever.

Agreed, a favourite of mine in the early days. RIP Barry

There was a game at Norwood Oval, Barry in the centre vs Phil Carman, both sides going goal for goal, Barry ripping the ball from the centre, then Carman. Some of the most exciting footy I've ever seen.
I got to know Barry for a year or so just after Ansett collapsed. Barry was one of the many employees who didn't receive any of their entitlements - including backpay - for a few years. In typical style he just battled through it, enrolled at TAFE and got a job in IT/telecomms. A really nice bloke. RIP Barry.

Re: 2021 SANFL Grand Final WWT Eagles v Glenelg Sunday 3pm

Two significant changes from the second semi, both favouring glenelg. Partington in and Goldsworthy out. Prelim final game just what glenelg needed in terms of preparation. Poor weather may assist the Eags nullify glenelg's talls. Hoping Eags win with Sheedy to pull out some magic but think glenelg will.

Excellent summary. Agree with all of that. Glenelg needed to play last week as had limited footy due to COVID break, Byes and finishing top. Eagles needed the week off due to being banged up. Think Glenelg definitely will turn the tables and win by six goals.

I'll be there with a bunch of mates from the Riverland. I don't think any of us have any preferences as to who wins, just so long as we see some good footy!

Re: Season 2022 Player Movements

We definitely need a revamp but would have preferred we added league quality and kept the promising youngster in Dew and Morton.

The losses of Morton, Dew, Allir, Graham & Marsh (who would have been a decent back up option) are now only just covered by the recruits we have......definitely need a few more INS before I start to 100% say we are a better list than last year.

I remember many pundits claiming Morton was a genuine gun, ready to go league player and now that he is gone is just considered part of the revamp.

I've also heard many say we re-signed 100% of the players we wanted hard to think the club didn't want Morton and Dew around...….........

with the reduced salary cap, if we want to recruit new interstate players, we will lose some current players.

Re: Season 2022 Player Movements

I agree with gazzamagoo - I think we have done pretty well with our recruits and we have quite a few very promising youngsters coming through - we have now become a very young side. Keeping Shay Linke for next season is an unexpected bonus, Rhett Montgomerie will be back, and Isiah Dudley could be a very exciting player. I'm really interested to see if Jakob Thomson can make it at league level - he has the skills, has a bit of aggro and uses his body well. He lacks leg speed but he's the same size as Buckets McKenzie - who did pretty well for us!

Re: CDFC 2021

SANFL today has a news article with no-one predicting CDFC will play league finals, no CDFC player will win the Magarey and no CDFC player will win the Ken Farmer.

To the contrary, I think we will play finals and that Billy McCormack will poll well in the Magarey, but its very hard for a ruck-man to win, especially if he's picked up in the mid season AFL draft. I don't think we'll do so well on the Ken Farmer, because Aiden Grace will play in the midfield as will Justin Hoskin, while Kendall will play at half forward.

But we'll kick enough goals. We will finish 4th or 5th.

One condition - if we lose McCormack, it will be much harder to make the finals. He will be one of our key players.

Re: Round 1

Looks like we will have something to look forward to this season. When we got our work rate and teamwork going it made South accountable. Different game then. But we went back to trying to outmark South in the last few minutes instead of spoiling the contest and using our mobility. Still, it was a decent first up game. We'll be better with Hoskin back, hopefully playing up forward. Jordan Tippins played pretty well for his debut. In fact all 8 new players did. McCormack is a talent - he'll get better.
We had a good win in the reserves. Taj Krieg put in a couple of impressive cameos - bustling through a ball up to kick a goal, then later intercepting a South pass in broken play to kill off their fightback.

Re: Round 1

Fantastic effort by South winning without their coach! Can only get better.
Ordinary signs for the Dogs.
Pissed again.
Apologies, did I get it around the wrong way?
Fantastic effort by the Dogs if they didn't have their coach today, very unexpected. Can only get better.
Ordinary signs for South.

(Could have sworn it was the South coach who was out today, sorry folks)

Neither side had their coach. Both out with Covid.
