Re: R1 - Port Adelaide v Adelaide Saturday 3:10pm AO

My youngest is playing in the mini league in this game at half time so I’ll get along for a look.
If anyone sees me on the ground helping be sure to hurl abuse at me!

How many kids you got, reckon I seen you at 6 games last year, can't all be mini league.
#closetportfan ;)
Another safooty poster may have a daughter running around too. He’s rapt about attending a Showdown

Anything for the kids, has to beat enduring a 4 hour dance concert though.

Only have to bounce it once a game and their skills will get even worse, thing could land in the goal square and be a complete anticlimax when it gets thrown up anyway.

Re: AFL Round 3 - 2023

I’ve gone from literally watching 9 games a week to actually losing interest in watching any at all this year. I’ve tried but I’m just not in it, is it just me or has the product just totally dropped off?

Just a terrible brand of footy in my opinion

Not just you, I much prefer Amateur footy these days. Watch the Port game but the others I spend most of the game on my phone, just listening in, refreshing my same game multi and SC scores.

Hooray, West Coast and Collingwood got allocated the change room we get to witness warm ups, celebrations, etc on Sunday with our Locker Room tickets. :(

 Wouldn’t be too many Coaster fans you'd think?
I can't even moon them as it's 1 way glass!
Well I could but I'd look pretty silly.

I did the locker room in Rd 1 and one of the bar staff told us a Port chick flashed the one way glass last season

Re: Things that you rate!

Introducing a third person into our relationship.

Went to the Alberton for Thursday night steak night last night and after ordering and sitting down at our table I noticed an older lady sitting on her own at a table. I said to Mrs Boon if our food and her food comes out at the same time I'll ask her to join us for dinner. Our meals came out, the young lad waiting tables went back into the kitchen and came out with her roast pork. Ingrid accepted my invitation and we all had dinner together.

She came out from Germany 69 years ago to learn English, fell in love with a Bavarian man, had two kids, lived in Alberton, owned and ran the bakery in Sussex St for years. She was a joy to talk too and couldn't have been happier to have been invited to have dinner with us. Her husband passed away late 90's and her adult children, like us all, live their own lives and while she's active at the Austrian club weekly, a book club and several other activities she was thrilled to have some company over dinner.

We've already booked in for dinner on Thursday night next week with her. Felt good to do something good and it didn't cost a thing.

Great stuff Boon, well done, Im sure that would have made her week.

Also reckon it is awesome that people on their own feel OK going out and keeping their own company rather than staying home and being out of sight .

I'm a bit like this with live music, happy to go to a gig on me own as friends don't often share the same taste.

Great community man is Booney :-BD

Re: GATHER ROUND - ROUND 5

fair to say that the Port members have voted with their feet tonight with the protest of Ken not being sacked, theyve decided to stay home

was about to post that the crowd looks less now than the 1st game, weathers crap would have something to do with it surely  Most of the Essendon and Dees fans left after the first game and headed into town for dinner by the looks. A hell of a lot of Bombers fans out and about in the CBD
One would suspect it would be even worse today with the two hour gap between games (and a game at Norwood during that time).
Weird planning.

Fans out n about investing in local business, it's not all about bums on seats. Could be worse though on the optics.....could have had it in the concrete jungle of Melbourne. You're right though, I reckon Coll v StK would draw 30k on it's own but they shoulda played Geel v WC at Almond Tree Flat.

Re: GATHER ROUND - ROUND 5

Love it how floggers on Facebook criticise crowds but don’t go to the footy themselves, I’ve lost a few associates today
It's the best thing to happen to this state for years. As others pointed out to me, the impact in the states economy is huge.
If the state govt pays the AFL enough to cover lost seat sales in Vic and we make 4 times that back in the local economy it's a win/win.
I'm not even shitty that Port and Adelaide get an extra home game !
The atmosphere at all the events and games I've been to has been first class. Even where I am atm there's equal amounts of West Coast, Geelong, Collingwood and Saints fans and everyone is getting along famously.
Was a similar atmosphere at Norwood on Friday in pubs with Freo and Suns fans.

PS I reserve the right to withdraw my opinion if West Coast beat Geelong today.

Bonus round, no loss in sales.
Like Collingwood have 17 home games.
