Re: Southern Football League

the argument is marion champ. I acknowledge the aldinga juniors dilemma as without it theyd already be in the saafl

secondly, when our div 1 team plays away youll see 10 people max there at the away game showing the support for the away team. if your banking on the revenue of the away supporters revenue to keep your club afloat you really have lost your marbles :)
Doesn't sound like much of a club if you only get 10 supporters at an away game. We would have more kids from our modis sides at away games than that let alone our U13's, J/C's, S/C's & their parents. Maybe that's why a CLUB is willing to battle through the tough times & stay in the SFL, where a team would take the easy road.

Re: 2013 - Player retirements/delistings/trade discussion

Good, I think the same of Mick too.
Sick of reading your negative shit !
Either support the club and the people they have put in place to be successful or piss off elsewhere ........

FIG, or should I call you Lemming?

I'm allowed my opinion. I've hated the bloke and his latin speaking bulltwang from his West Coast days. So am I supposed to change my mind because he's coaching my team?

He's not the messiah, he's just a very egotisical w*nker.

BTW, I support my team. I don't always agree with decisions made at the top level (ie, sacking Ratten) but it doesn't stop me sticking up for Carlton at every opportunity, however you won't hear man love for the grey headed old prick.

Re: Southern Football League

Oh dear marbles, you really are losing it.

The 'quotes' above really are flawed. How about this:

"The Marion lads are all really enjoying the road trips to Houghton, Wingfield, Smithfield and Modbury. Particularly the A grade who enjoy having the presentations at the newly appointed time of 8.30pm. In fact the large distances travelled every second week really has attracted players from other nearby clubs without even needing to reach into the war chest. In addition, the legions of Rams fans seen at the away games really has boosted gate takings and Canteen takings at all clubs"

Also, while browsing the Divvy 7 forum I noted some pearls of absolute wisdom from your good self:

why you think half the old boys refused to play c-grade ya tool

half of the dgrade premiership side were easily capable of playing cgrade but instead chose your 'mediocrity' theory and smashed out a flag just for 'fun'

now being thrashed by 160 points by an ingle farm outfit who train as hard as our div 1 agrade side certainly isnt 'fun'

So apparently thrashings do happen in Div 6/7. Wow time to move to div 8 or another league.

And admitting you sandbagged a D grade flag says a lot too.

Go back to your Gen Y mindset of wanting everything easy and instantly mate.

Re: Southern Football League

Marion and a few other clubs are about to have another rotten season, and you blokes dont want them to leave because it will mean 2 less wins for you.

LMAO. I played against a Marion team that torched us by 30 goals back in about 2002 (From memory Rowan Waugh kicked a lazy dozen). Guess we should have just changed leagues.

Swings and roundabouts marbles.

Re: Time for a ball re-design?

Whats with everyone wanting to make the game easier to play?

Its why we love it because its not easy to play.
Why not make the goals wider so its easier to kick them.
Make the grounds smaller and have zones so we dont have to be so fit.

About the only thing that has changed with the ball in 25 years is the consistancy in quality.

Leave the game alone FFS!

Re: Kane Cornes

The only responsible use of illicit substances is when perscribed by a dr

it's possible to irresponsibly use prescription drugs. it's possible to responsibly use illicit drugs.

Yes true re. perscription drugs, but that is up to the user and dr who perscribes it should be able to see through that. The bit about illicit drugs is horseshit.

Far, far from it. But you can't be objective about this, so not much point in continuing.

Re: Soooooo, how's this weather?

A Dad of 3 kids at the school Mrs Jase and I work at, was struck and killed by lightning today...

Just unbelievable :(

Absolutely heart wrenching and sad.

I wonder what NG thinks about this and why it happened to a pastor of the church....
I did hear about this... really really sad for the family. You have to feel for the kids and hope that the support network is in place for his wife, which one can only assume is considering his place in the church, let alone society at large.

If you're asking what i think about it then i think that at least he was ready. Here is a man who had given his life in service to God and it was his time, now he gets a promotion. We will never understand the why of life. All it shows is that no matter who you are and whats going on in life, we all have an appointed time that we don't know. We must be ready for it!

Guarantee the family and church will grieve but that will be closely followed by rejoicing that he is now in heaven!

I can't even begin to explain how ****** up this way of thinking is.

You think they'll be rejoicing that this poor bastard got hit by lightning and is "in heaven"? **** me.

Condolences to Jase, Mrs Jase and those close to him.

Re: North Melbourne 2016

Same injury as Hodgey, no surprise hodgey will be back in 3-4 and Higgins will miss half a season.
Yep, the EXACT same injury, they landed the same way, felt the same pain, I've heard they both have the same knee, share the same crutches and see the same specialist.
It's got me totally f#cked how one will be back in a month & the other back in three months.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

2021
11, 860 deaths from cancer
3, 541 deaths from dementia
3, 074 deaths from heart disease
2, 782 deaths from respiratory disease (pneumonia, influenzea) inc 1,569 Chronic lower respiratory disease (see below)
2, 072 deaths from cerebrovascular disease inc strokes.
1, 569 deaths from chronic lower respiratory disease (bronchitis, emphysema, asthma)
1, 187 deaths from road fatalities in Australia
1, 051 deaths from diabetes
60 deaths from road fatalities in South Australia

Total coronavirus cases in SA since beginning: 857
Total coronavirus deaths in SA since beginning: 4

Then for some fun (thanks google):
Texting while driving kills 6,000 Amercians annually.
Hippos kill 2,900 people annually in Africa
600 people annually die from autoerotic asphyxiation
450 people die each year from falling out of bed.
100 people in Russia are killed from icicles
Vending machines claim 13 people a year falling over.
Evil ants kill 30 people annually.
Dogs slightly more dangerous at 34 victims.

how many cases and deaths if we did nothing?

An interesting debate that no one knows the answer to, not the anti-lockdown types, and neither medical experts.

However, if we wanted to estimate things, it might be reasonable to work on the following:

1,771,000 South Aussies.

Now there were 213 'really close' contacts identified between The Greek and The Winery who spent several hours in poorly ventilated rooms with highly infected individuals at the peak of their infectious period.
Of this 213, 16 caught Covid, or 7.51% .

Now, the delta death rate world wide is 0.2%

Of those who die with covid, 2.53% are dying without other comorbidity.

So, if we just let it run wild, it would not be unreasonable to suggest:

1,771,000 south aussies.
133,002 would catch Covid.
266 would die with covid.
6.73 would die from covid alone.

Is 7 people too many?
Are 7 people worth billions of dollars?

We'll never know.

What the above doesn't take into account is the other deaths that will occur as hospitals overflow, etc.
You haven't factored in that the transmission rate is exponential.

Re: 2022 AFL Season

This has been the rule for quite awhile now they just haven't been applying it correctly.
Joel Selwood started doing from day 1.
Now Ginni has perfected it.

You are correct its been a rule from day dot just not played by the umps.

Difference between Selwood and Ginnivan is Selwood denied it whereas Ginnivan bragged it was his intention to do it and get the free.
