Re: Ashes 3rd Test Perth Discussion

His career average blows out because of his first tour before he learnt how to reverse a ball

From 2009...
Against Australia he has 63 wkts @ 32.73. Which isn't bad, but not amazing.
Career average in Australia is 29.96 which is ok.

But...If you want to pick and choose games to leave in or out, if we take his only 10fa out of the stats (1st test in Eng a few months ago) he averages 40 against Australia.

Doesn't take away from the fact that he is a fierce pole smoker.

Re: Southern Football League

Brighton v Roos - Roos by 32 points.
Christies v Emus - Emus by 24.
Vikings v Lions - Vikings by 150.
Marion v Cove - Cove by 40 points
Shoes v Hawks - Hawks by 5 points
Flies v Flaggies - Flies by 60 points
Porties v Sharks - Porties by150 points

3 potentially close games IMO but time will tell. Agree with previous post that BDOS and Roos will be game of the round . Also think Shoes vs Hawks will be a good game to watch. Keen to see how the Hawks have progressed from an improived season last year.

Might draw a bumper crowd of about 20 people

Re: Southern Football League

There has been enough character assassination of a junior here. To clear it up:

* He has not been reported for kicking at any time he has been at CB.
* He was reported in the U/16s a couple of years ago for striking and was given 2 games (missed out on finals).
* Noarlunga refused his clearance and held him up until they were trying to get a player from us, they cleared him in order to secure the other player. If that is sending him packing there was no indication at any point that they were happy for him to leave.
* He has been given a penalty for a stupid act.
* The player he was on was an A-Grade defender, you need an element of asshole about you in order to play that type of position at that level. That does not condone the lads actions, or even suggests that what happened was reason to react, but to try to paint it as a brain-fade where he has just randomly hit a player is just misleading.

I like you LGIL but this post is misleading.

Sent packing was sent packing with no hold up at all. (you may have the wrong lad)

I think you blokes are letting your club allegiances get in the way of the real issue here. The fact is most clubs still have a few idiots who go to far on the footy field. The issue is how the SFL deals with theses types of king hits/coward punches.

A similar incident happened a couple of weeks ago in the C Grade between Cove and Flaggies, where a first year senior player from Cove king hit an opponent from behind, leaving him concussed, the ump saw the incident and gave the lad a red card. This player was also given a 4 match ban, which in my opinion is a seriously soft punishment for such a serious offence.

The SFL is very quick to boast about how serious they take violence in football and the work they do with organisations like the Sammy D foundation, but then surely greater action must be taken when 18-20 year olds are delivering such king hits on the footy field. If they do it once and get a slap on the wrist it's much more likely that they'll do it again.

No I don't think it has merit, for the reasons you mentioned. But it is still a unique quirk of our game.

Still can't think of another game that has a different scoring method for "own goals" though.

Re: Southern Football League

The SFL is finalising the Saturday comps finals fixture next Monday night. The big issue is the proposal to play the 2 v 3 final on the first Saturday as a night game at Port Noarlunga commencing at 6pm. Obviously all the earlier games at that venue will be shifted back. I think its a great progressive idea which will also assist players, officials, support staff, parents and supporters of clubs who have teams at both Saturday venues to manage their day easier. Clubs have been asked to provide their thoughts on the proposal which will assist with Monday's decision. Regardless of night game or not, I have a feeling the fixture will be:

5/9 - 1 v 4 at Marion and 2 v 3 at PN
6/9 - 5 v 8 at CB or N and 6 v 7 at CB or N
12/9 - Loser 1 v 4 vs Winner 5 v 8 at Ald or N
13/9 - Loser 2 v 3 vs Winner 6 v 7 at Ald or N
19/9 - Winner 1 v 4 vs Winner 13/9 at CB or PN
20/9 - Winner 2 v 3 vs Winner 12/9 at CB or PN
26/9 - GF at SAFC

Or see their A grade playing at the same time as their B grade. I doubt you would find many players that would be keen to play a night game in this situation.

Re: Southern Football League

Think about it ZC. Two scenarios if your A & B grade both finish top 4.

If they are at different venues on the first Saturday you have your B grade playing from 12.50 to 2.30 and A grade from 2.30 to 5.00 at the other venue so whether it's your A or B that finish 1 or 4 and vice versa 2 or 3 then it's a pain in the arse and no way that anyone involved with the A grade can see any of the B grade. Some keen supporters may watch the first half and then head off but not much fun if you miss the end of the game.

But in the Port Noarlunga proposal which has already been declared as the 2 v 3 venue, night game or no night game. If your B grade play at PN they play from 4.20 to 6.00 and the A grade play 2.30 to 5.00. Really not much different scenario but in reverse but a keen supporter, coaches and players can still dash to the B grade to see the end of the game or at least see the A grade game and watch 2 teams that you could play later in finals.

But the best scenario is having the B grade play at the other venue at 12.50 to 2.30 and your A grade playing 6.00 to 8.30 at PN. Everyone including all players benefit in this situation.

And the junior scenario is even better and we all have plenty of families with children in more than one junior grade so this makes their first Saturday of finals a lot easier with the exception of U18 at 11.10 at one venue and U14 at 11.45 at PN. All other scenarios for juniors at the 2 grounds means parents and siblings can see both games in full.

Better still, have all your top 4 teams finish 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 and you play at the same venue.

Time for the SFL and clubs to think outside the square. You guys are happy to play 2 Sunday games per season which is probably not popular with everyone at your club so what's wrong with a Saturday night final.

Re: Southern Football League

At this point in time, Reynella is scheduled to play against Flaggies in the 14, 16, 18 and B's at Christies next Saturday with the A's against each other on Sunday at Porties. Will common sense prevail at the SFL and swap the A's?

Its already a nightmare for the SFL/Christies as revenue will be down with only 4 clubs there, they wouldn't reduce that down to 2 and stop Flaggy/Reynella people not paying again on Sunday, like the AFL it will be all about the $$$

Re: Southern Football League

Let's get the facts right first guys. The coaches award is presented by SAFC and can only go to a club in its zone. That eliminates FH, HV, BDOS, MP, Marion, Cove and Etown for starters. Gianni and Mitts have probably won it before and possibly Cratey so If they try and give it to someone who hasn't won one previously, he was probably the best of the rest.

Highlights of the night were Gazza for the 3rd year in a row pronouncing Riddle as Ridley. I mean how hard is it to look at the name Riddle and pronounce it correctly. Maybe next year we might have Aussie cricketer Peter Sidley as a guest speaker. And the Prez who announced at the start of Round 18 counting that there were 2 rounds remaining when in fact there were 3 rounds left so everyone was getting excited during Round 19 voting when there was still a full 7 game round to count. Even Gazza was about to announce the winner after Round 19 thinking voting was completed. And in the U18, U16 and U14 Team of the Year, if you are going to invite the top 22 votegetters then why wouldn't you provide the votes for all those in the TOTY rather than just the top 10. We had 4 lads in the U18 TOTY who walked away without knowing their votes. Sure, our very efficient club secretary has facebooked the full voting at some ungodly hour but come on SFL. Lastly, Team Man of the Year has run its race. Some coaches rig the votes to guarantee a win for their club. The A grade winner polled 51 of a possible 54 votes. The joke is that the leading Goalkicker and Team Man get a massive trophy and a voucher or cash of $75 to $100 and the best player in the comp just gets a medal other than the Mail Medallist who I think gets something extra. Why not give each medallist a sponsors trophy in addition to the medal and the cash/voucher and do away with the team man votes. Coaches and team managers hate having to do them anyway. Other than that, not a bad night and run pretty smoothly for how much they get through.

Re: Pick Hefty's Blood Alcohol level sweep

Brodlach wins the "Let's make drink driving a great big laugh" sweep.
No, its about educating.
5 pints of full strength beer (say 4.8%) would give you a maximum BAC of 0.08. That is 1.6 standard drinks x 5, 1.6 is equivalent to 0.016 BAC.
Given that he drank them over 3 hours, and the body processes 0.01 per hour, it was never going to go up. Say the body was started processing after 1 hour, he probably maxed at 0.06. (If he drank them in a short time frame then he would reach his max)
Given the time frame between his last drink and the breath test, this would allow for some reduction.
2 hours later the blood test would 0.02 below the breath test. I don't know if they factor in the time delay, ie add 0.2 to the actual blood BAC.

Plus there are other factors like how well his liver functions, how hot it is, how big he is, error percentage in breath testers, etc

It is about educating, you're right.

Folks, if you drink 5 pints and drink you're risking your life and that of others.

Nice try at re-writing history Booney.

Burgoyne never played under Primus, not even for half a season. He started at Hawthorn in 2010. Primus took over from Williams half way through that season.
I never actually said anything about Burgoyne and Cassisi not getting on or anything like that as your brain dead persona assumes. I merely stated that the board chose Cassisi over Burgoyne. Mark Williams had recommended Burgoyne thus this was the beginning of the end for both parties.

Nevertheless we thank you immensely, the amount of games he has won us when thrust into the middle in the last quarter cant be counted with your fingers and toes :D #Fawthorn

Impressed with our 18s performance who took it right up to Brighton who had been the best team all year. How many blokes in the history of footy have kicked 29 goals in 15 games in the one season, which included bags of 13 and 12.
Only kicked 1 or more goals in 5 of those 15 games

26 of his 29 goals were kicked against the bottom two teams (89.7%)

Only kicked goals against finalist teams on two occasions, for a total of 3 goals.

Please save me the home work.

To be fair he generally played down back, but if the rumors of 4 figure$ in 2016 and 1/2 a K in 2017 are correct for returns of 10th and an 8th finish with no finals , you would be looking pretty hard at the bloke in charge of the footy dept asking WHY??

News to hand that 3 clubs (no names or current leagues mentioned) have applied to join the AdFL in 2018. 2 have been offered places in the Division 7 Competition with the 3rd denied entry for 2018 but offered conditions they must satisfy for The League to consider them in season 2019.

So is it Marion and OSB/Lonsdale and could the 3rd being made to wait be Hackham again. Of course they may not all be SFL clubs but couldn't imagine it being any other club from outside the SFL.

Re: Southern Football League

5 August 2017 - said player has played for the South Reserves at 12 noon at Alberton Oval and on the same day he was listed as playing B grade for Port Noarlunga coincidentally v Morphett Vale. That game has contributed to the 4 games (1A and 3B) he has supposedly played. And the other 2 B grade games appear dodgy because I think South had BYEs those weeks and if he was truly released to play by South then one assumes he would be an automatic A grade selection. The fact he played a B grade game v Marion for no goals and no best players does make you wonder if he even suited up or spent any time on the field.

When will clubs learn. There is a thing called the internet and the SportsTG system that makes all this information available. We have left the SFL but I continue to defend the league and remind those that love taking pot shots that the top clubs in the SFL would put many clubs in the AdFL to shame with how well run and organised they are. And the performance of Morphy Park and Brighton this year has justified that. But when a club does what seemingly has happened here, particularly at A grade level, then you have to wonder what on earth is going on at some of the SFL clubs.

Re: INS and OUTS for 2018

Ummm, a couple of things...
Fuller told Lewis he was too old? On the WWT website it states his age as currently 30. This means when Fuller took over at South in 2010, Lewis was 22 or 23 - yet apparently too old???
Secondly, when he was told he wasn’t wanted by South, who then do you think got him to the Eagles???

I’m only telling you what Lewis said which is truthfully what I heard him say .
You can go look up stuff all you like this came out of Scot Lewis’s mouth
Fuller was a strange coach
Hey if you saw what I wrote Godden tried him out in the seconds trial games only after Godden was happy he was signed to the eagles .

Rather than be so dummy spitting at the big bad Eagles bogeyman taking your unwanted players like Scot Lewis go look at Glenelg
Fix up whatever is going wrong down at the bay rather than moan about the Eagles
If the Bay’s were great like they were in the 1970s you’d keep players more than let them go off .
Same applies to all clubs
Honestly stop blaming the eagles
Glenelg appears from afar to have problems like cap being cut
You need help.

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 7 - 2018

Just to clear a few things up there was absolutely no insurance on the contents lost in the shed. Should there have been? Absolutely and I believe this was the case up until the past 2/3 years.

I can see why people would jump to conclusions when we sign a big name like Trev that we are not using the funds raised for the intended purpose but I can guarantee you that is not the case. In fact our player budget has decreased by 60-70% on last years budget. The player budget was a major motivating factor in our move to the AdFL as what we were doing was not sustainable and would have killed us this year. People would be shocked if they knew the amounts being spent for little return.

The facts are that whilst affiliated In the SFL we had to overpay guys to join the club. I am sure people can understand that players aren’t falling over themselves to sign up for 25-30 goal thrashing’s. Our 3 highest paid players from last season have already left the club after being offered huge decreases in pay and I suspect some more will follow. On the flip side we have been able to re-sign many former players (most are returning juniors) mostly for nothing or discounted prices.

There is a genuine buzz around the place that has not been there in many years; we’ve even had a handful of guys come out of retirement. It is awesome to see so many new faces at the club and the best thing is they are here for the right reasons....I suspect there is more to follow.

I refuse to watch anything with Bob in it. He gives me the shits big time.
