If you believe China's numbers.* Obviously. I’m not talking about going there currently but in months/years whenever the authorities deem it safe then why not. There will come a point when travel does get opened up again

Of course. I'll be on the Murray or KI if you need me. ;) Funny how when it has something to do with Port, China’s numbers are reliable [emoji23]

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

International flights look set to resume next tuesday on a restricted basis with Singapore airlines. Singapore is allowing transits from today so next week will be more flights but still for essential travel and repatriation only. The aim is to potentially open a travel bubble in the coming months so who knows when some form of regular travel will be allowed

Watch the news this is freight only. Flight includes potato’s and Brussels Sprouts People with a urgent or essential need to travel or return home can book on those flights aswell. Won’t be a huge capacity but I know there was 26 seats booked when I checked the log Friday

I'm thankful for the protest, it will probably be the precursor to get crowds back at the footy sooner rather than later.
A precedent has been set. I insist that the next BLM protest be held on the hill of Adelaide Oval during a SANFL game. Solidarity, brothers! Banner Lives Matter, bring back Eric!

Re: AFL Round 2

Anyone watch the Front Bar last night? I know (or have always heard) how the AFL came about because the VFL was in trouble, but having Ross Oakley on there last night straight up saying it I must admit gave me the shits.

When asked the thought behind the AFL or what kick started it "Well we needed to find a new way to inject some cash into our struggling VFL clubs."

AFL has always been a rebranded VFL, it was never about Australian Rules Football having a truly National Comp (if that was the case NT and Tas would have had teams years ago) He didn’t say anything I hadn’t read or heard before. Of course it is a rebranded VFL and the stupid non Victorian clubs fell for it boom, line and sinker. The clubs knew what they were getting into yet in their haste to join the comp they somehow forgot that they held all the cards and if they had only held out out for another year or two it would be a vastly different landscape. Only 2-3 VFL clubs would have survived if the interstate clubs had held their nerve and a new national comp would have been formed from the ashes

Re: AFL Round 2

One thing from Saturday night and I'm all for diversity and inclusion, but Glouftis should not be umpiring at AFL level. She literally looks to one of the other umpires for affirmation before she makes any decision and three times Saturday night another umpire called a free for a play that she was controlling.

Does anyone know if umpires are being rotated? She didn't officiate in the last quarter.
She's an easy target for criticism. There would have been a number of instances over the round where decisions were made by a "non controlling" umpire and from what I saw there were umpires in other games that may have influenced the result due to their poor decision making. We should accept that umpires make mistakes. She is a pretty poor umpire but atleast she isn’t a cheat like Margetts

Re: AFL Round 3 - #hublyfe
Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has just said all close contacts with Conor McKenna will need to quarantine for 14 days. Says it's then up to Essendon whether they have enough players to field a team. Our games will be postponed and we will be playing catch up. The AFL are prepared for it in their contingency plan as they are expecting more to test positive

Might be time for Victoria to get its shit together. Agree.
The AFL knew that this was a huge chance of happening and aren’t going to halt the league every time a player tests positive

Essendon ignored the AFL advice of not putting all one area of the field in the same group of 8, I think his group of 8 will be declared close contatcts, it includes, Hurley, Saad, Hooker, Redman, Ridley. So they will be out for this week and they will be expected to field a team, Carlton benefit again from Essendon testing positive.
Apparently McKenna went to an open house inspection last weekend so should get a suspension on top of his 14 days isolation, wouldnt surprise if its a very lengthy suspension. Might just put him over the edge and send him back home for good
I think he will cop a lengthy suspension. Players are allowed to go to open inspections in Victoria if they are purchasing a house but it’s a grey area in regards to a rental.
With the virus rates in Melbourne there will be more players test positive soon. The Vic clubs should’ve been sent to SA or WA from the start

Re: AFL 2020 Season

There is a lot of talk about a hub being set up in Perth with 60K crowds from mid July. If Perth can do it, why can't Adelaide be an option?

Cause the WA Premier holds the whole AFL competition in his hands as a bargaining chip.
.... so, why can't Marshall do the same? Because SA has already committed to opening up its borders. WA have no intent to open yet

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
Channel Nine News snippet.

" No Evidence to link Victorias Black Lives Matter Protests amid state of emergency "

My opinion is Melbourne is now reaping the benefits of the BLM protest two odd weeks ago.

Well done Comrade Dan . LOL :Hangman:

Your opinion contradicts the evidence .

Pretty sure they've focused their investigations on a couple of large family gatherings and a shop / family that works within it.

But hey, all guessing.

What evidence?

The one where Vic Health and it's professionals have openly stated where all the positive cases are being linked to via contact tracing. ie. Keilor Downs family outbreak.

There hasn't been a single transmission linked to any of the nation-wide BLM protests (yet, could still be a possibility, let's not rule out that any future ones could be linked)
For me it’s more the message around hosting the BLM. Once that was allowed to go ahead plenty of the people thought “stuff it if they can have a protest we will do whatever we want”
There was a noticeable change of attitude in people and many have relaxed or blatantly broken SD rules which I think has led to some of these cases in Victoria.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
Gee whiz....

Passengers flying from Melbourne to Sydney on a Jetstar flight on Tuesday night were able to get off the plane without undergoing a health screen for symptoms of coronavirus.

The major health breach, confirmed by Jetstar to NCA NewsWire, allowed some on board to enter the major city with no scrutiny.

A Jetstar spokesman said crew assisted health officials, who were reportedly not present at the time the plane landed, by locating passengers in the terminal. Jetstar, say no more

How is it jetstars fault that nsw health didnt have people ready to do the health checks??

Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk The airline is not meant to let passengers disembark until health officials arrive
Health officials should be there waiting IMO
Absolutely they should but if they aren’t it’s up to the airline to hold passengers on board and radio through to the relevant authorities and they will dispatch staff ASAP. Both are in the wrong and will get hauled over the coals for it

Re: AFL 2020 Season

Can someone explain the grounds for dismissal (or standing down indef) on Mitch Cleary with the AFL after he shared the Cotchin missus insta post of her breaching covid rules? I don't get it... Mitch Cleary is employed directly by the AFL I believe so you would think his obligations to the AFL should override any obligations he has a journalist.
Bizarre decision either way

Codswallop! His job as a journalist is to report on football news, not to drive AFL propaganda, that's rubbish Jim and his sacking has the finger prints of a dictator all over it. I’m not saying I agree with it but that would be the logic the AFL would be applying.
Any journalist that writes or says anything disparaging against the AFL is threatened to have their accreditation removed, just ask Grant Thomas.
The AFL is an absolute dictatorship, not sure how people already didn’t know this

That was always my understanding to
They showed the actual AFL rule on the Sunday Footy show and the umpire was spot on, its taken from in play closest to where it lands out of play.

How did they explain it Wedgie? Rule as quoted in post above seems pretty clear.
They quoted the law (printed it on the screen), I assume the AFL is different or the above rule is outdated. Apparently the laws got rewritten in 2019 to take a few grey areas out

Inside 50’s - Richmond 67-24 Essendon
How the **** do you only lose by 12 pts with those figures We were extremely accurate whilst they missed plenty of easy shots. Richmond had a lot of poor inside 50’s where they just bombed it in and a lot of shallow entries where our defenders managed to hold them off.

Can we just give Lynch a game and stop all the crap.
While we're at it lets make any head rubs to an oppo player a free kick. I watched local U15 and U17 footy yesterday and its rife in that, you cant expect kids that age to have the same discipline as an AFL footballer to be able to ignore. At some stage some kid will snap. Wasn’t much in it but Lynch did give a sly push/jab to Hurley’s throat.
