Re: 2014 DT/SC Discussion

I've just created an AFL Fantasy league, which nobody seems to want to join...

If you want to join a league for shits and giggles, search for 'Clean Snap Football Association' on the AFL Fantasy page.

Your league is a failed creation. Come and join the Hogg! We need more Divvy VI coaches and that will be a bit of a shit and giggle league as well.

Re: Graeme Smith retires

I hope he makes a century in his final innings. it wont save them the game. I have enjoyed watching him play, was a very young skipper, so perhaps that has taken its toll. would have been nice if Kallis stuck around for this series and they went out together.

he has certainly had a great career

**** off I hope he gets out for **** all. Adios.

Re: Demetriou to stand down after 2014 season

Nobody is saying the COLA assures you anything, but a side that can win a GF then recruit (potentially) the two highest paid key forwards in the comp to long term deals seems slightly jilted, does it not?

I see you have conveniently forgotten the explanation how Sydney have been able to recruit both players.
This still has the greater football public scratching their head.
it's not really that difficult...
players retire, get traded or delisted... What happens to the cap when that happens????
Not rocket science....

Speaking of something not being Rocket Surgery. You've been up there since 82 and GWS has been there 5 minutes. The AFL wanted Tippett and Buddy to go to the Giants but you want to squash the baby at Birth and recruited both because you could. You've bitten the hand that feeds you and now you've shit in your own nest.

As an expansion club GWS deserve COLA. As an established club that has recruited the highest profile recruits in successive years, you don't.

*BUMP*

If anyone is still interested, there's still plenty of spots left in the Clean Snap Football Association. The league code is Z5PEYPV4 if you want to check it out.

BTW, I joined Hogg Division VI tonight too.

I'm in. Get on boys help a brother out. We don't seem to have a safooty.net DT league for this year, so this could be it.

Re: Need Help Please

Woodubelieve its all about value. Auto fill is no help because you need to identify the rookies most likely to get games early in order to make money so you can save trades. The money you make can then be used to get better players later on.

If you use Autofill then you are wasting trades brining in the rookies you should have started with in the first place. Dunston, Aish, Georgio, Ellis, Cultker, Impey Nd Morabito are all cheap players worth considering for your initial squad.

Re: Jonathon trott Weak/scared ????

Everyone's pointing the finger but

"But former New Zealand Test bowler Iain O'Brien, who suffered with anxiety issues throughout his career, completely disagreed with Vaughan's analysis.

"Any GP would have given Trott three weeks off work," O'Brien told BBC Radio 5 live Drive. "It just so happens that Trott's work was so much in the public eye that he becomes judged for it.

"For Michael Vaughan to use those lines and those words, it does make me feel quite ill."

We aren't him. He deserves the benefit of the doubt. If it is true and he can't play the quicks then his career is over anyway. Vaughan is almost as much as much a dial a quote as Boycott, Botham or Hussain (but maybe not Warner LOL).

In a low scoring round teams like FNQ Trotters, Zedforce, Adelaide Crows and the Planeteers all took advantage as the Hogg Elite, Premier and Champions sides missed the boat. I might have to call home more often for some much needed SC advice as the Trotters is my old lady. It is a bit embarrassing when your Mum beats you at SuperCoach but it's not so bad when she's beating the rest of the Hogg as well. :D

Re: Round 4 discussion

yeah same... Rohan has to go...
What's peoples thoughts on Zorko? Is he worth keeping?

I'll be keeping him as I just traded him in. Remember he copped a massive WHACK early on last week and that could have effected his scoring. Here's hoping anway. As for Rohan, unless Ambrose can hold his spot you might as well keep the dud.

regards,

REB
yeah just bought Zorko in to...
i've got impey on the bench i may sub him on for Rohan... But i bet if i do that Rohan may actually do something...

So if you just bought Zorko in you don't compound your 'mistake' by making another. He's in our team for the year now. I traded out Mitch Duncan for him. Duncan got 135 and Zorko 46. Cost me three of my four league games. But I'm tipping that Zorko will outscore Duncs for the rest of the season.

Think about the reason why you traded in Zork in the first place. Chances are those reasons are still valid despite him spudding it up last week. Generally you make trades during the year to

a- Free up 200 Grand
b- The guy you are going to bring in will earn more points over the rest of the season.

So are there any 250k guys who will outscore Zork for the rest of the year? I would suggest no. Otherwise it's a sideways trade...a bit like Duncan to Zorko DOH.

The Isotopes are the year eleven kid in the kindy down here and this week they bullied the puniest team in the Hogg as they thrashed Strawb's Mustangs who remain proudly at the bottom of the ladder. It is hard to see the Topes losing a game all year in this league. The Loose Husseys look to be the nearest competitor but the Topes took care of them last week.

RustyCage managed to rack up 2000 points which will get the job done most weeks but the big news is that Footy Chick's Evil Penguins have won their first two matches and are sitting comfortably inside the top eight. Newcomer Failed Creation is steadily improving and could be a top four combination this season and IswiTch are also having an improved start to the season.

As usual it's Mighty Eags, Strawb and Thiele down the bottom but Play4Tins and St Brays Saints are also making a bid for the lowest of the low in Divvy VI.

The hairy Hobbits, Willies and Duromine Dependent are the only unbeaten sides in Hogg Division IV after three rounds. Of these sides only the Dependents had a tough match as they eased by the inconsistent HEAT. The Willies and the Hobbits had fairly soft matches and they duly saluted to continue to head up the table. Of these three The Willies have been extremely impressive and rank as one of the big improvers in the Hogg this season. This is Brod's best season so far and he is looking at a possible promotion this year.

Teams below the Willies that will have a big say about that include the number one ranked team in the Hogg, the Adelaide Crows who have rebounded strongly after an opening round loss and ZedForce who have been a good scorer most weeks this season. Some teams such as Daisy's Duds and FNQ Trotters have lost their way a bit in recent weeks and it's a bit of a mystery as to why it took Scros Swimmers three weeks to break their duck.

thewonderelephants won their first match of the season also to rise to 16th on the ladder but remain in the relegation zone along with Nutkickers, Holland's Hero's and FoxInSox who will need to pull them up in order to avoid a wooden implement added to the kitchen drawer.

11th ranked Raging Hooligans proved to be the joker in the pack in Division VI when they produced the boilover to sink the previously red hot Isotopes in a major upset. The topes scored well but lost the game which prompted the manager to call in beloved mascot Homer Simpson who has packed his bags for Capital City as I type.

Failed Creation lived up to his name this week when they were trounced by Leisa's Lovelies who pulled out a major score after sitting on roughly 1900 a week in previous matches. The Creation are probably still wondering where the Lovelies found the points. The topes loss left the door ajar for Rusty Cage and their percentage was a key component on them assuming the leadership after they tanned the Cows.

Other teams to do well include St Brays Saints who had their best ever result in the Hogg Shield scoring a comfortable victory over the Red Tins. It's fair to say that the lid is staying on for the Red Tins coach. Earlier in the year Footy Chick expressed her consternation at the prospect of being defeated by an eight year old and this has duly come to pass as the Joeys hopped all over the Penguins. Cool.

A steadily improving Izshi 18 ended iSwiTch's winning streak and now Big Andy is on the cusp of the top eight. The Loose Husseys are scoring well every week but haven't been able to tighten things up defensively after losing to the Topes in round one. PowerFailure and Brendamage both had percentage boosting wins against battling teams but other sides in this league have stronger claims for top four spots.

Re: Herald Sun Team of the Century

Listing awards that were unavailable to Diesel does not make Judd a comparable footballer. If I had to pick which one I wanted in the middle for my 'super side' it would be Diesel every time. His football brain was second to none. Don't get me wrong I hated the sniping prick but he was one of the best footballers I've ever seen.

I reckon Cousins has Judd covered, let alone Williams.

Sandersons press conference

"We had a 6 day break" - F**k me it was a Etihad
"We only had 2 on the bench"
"Melbourne had all there numbers behind the ball"

F**k is he serious.

You had more scoring shots and a shit load more inside 50's but put simply the crows foot skills are terrible. Your turn overs have been masked by playing poor opposition and getting over the line until today.

To much left to too few

A coach cant come out with excuses in his presser like this. Hes just given his players an out and when it next gets tough they will take it.

Re: Worst AFL media person..

1. BT - Absolute gibbering idiot that almost makes the greatest game in the world unwatchable. He's been warned and has started to tone it down.
2. Bruce - Such a shame that a once brilliant SANFL commentator is now a metrosexual cringeworthy fapping man-crush nitwit.
3. Dermott - Get over it you punch drunk Irish git. You can't clobber blokes anymore.
4. Dunstall - I wish he would trade 200 of his goals and get a sense of humour. Absolute ar5ehat.
5. David King - overscrutinised everything even before he was paid to do so. A wanker as a player and has gone backwards in the media.
6. Tom Harley - Tries so hard to prove he's not biased to Geelong but he's not fooling oppo fans and pissing off the Cats fans by making the attempt.
7. Lethal- Another Hawthorn thug in the commentary box. Tries to keep up with the trends of the game and comes off sounding like KB.
8. Luke Darcy - Don't hate him as much as some others do but his tiresome catchphrases grind my gears. Stick to calling the netball.
9. Roo - What a boofhead. Listening to him calling a Crows game is like listening to nails down a blackboard. Grade A thickhead.
10. KB - irrelevant old fart trying to turn the game into netball who is starting to invade the media.

Except for Mike Shehan, Hudson, Robbo, Whately, Lingy, Richo and to a lesser extent Commetti, they pretty much all suck. Don't mind Eddie when he's not commentating Pies games but it's a very short list from a bucketful of absolute muck. I don't miss the SA Football 'media' at all since moving up here. Bliss!

Brian Taylors call on Saturday night covered everything but the game of football he was watching.

He is shit. In fact, he sets the bar for shit calling.
I'll say it again - when he was on Fox he was funny, not over the top and entertaining.
Ever since he got the leading gig at 3AW and moved to Channel 7 he's arrogant, condescending, tries too hard to for a laugh and yes, a shit caller.

No he wasn't. He was a complete fuktard then and nothing's changed.

The Isotopes, Loose Husseys and Raging Hooligans have looked the most likely this year but during the first bye week unbeaten RustyCage and PowerFailure both recorded impressive tallies to keep their records intact. PowerFailure's 1674 would have stood up well in the Hogg Champions League this week and many teams in this league have struggled to match RustyCage's 1620 during a regulation week.

The topes, Husseys and Hooligans all recorded wins as expected so there should be some crucial matches coming up between the top five sides over the next few weeks. One of the top five be the unlucky team that misses the double chance.

Failed Creation and Leisa's Lovelies both recorded victories that consolidated their top eight places and you'd think that both teams will make the finals. This means there is one place left in the top eight and as many as five sides could be fighting over it. The incumbent iSwiTch is only in the eight because Brendamage were smashed by PowerFailure. St Brays Saints don't look the part, they won this week with the lowest winning total in the Hogg this season. Sturt B could be a chance for that last spot but I reckon the kid kickingkangaroo might get that last spot. Pierson was more than a bit lucky to lose with 1366 at this level during a bye.

The bottom four sides remain winless with MightyEagles coming closest to breaking their duck as they just missed out on victory against the Saints. Thiele Crows wears the Dunce's hat this week although his 758 was around 200 points better than Division V combo LetMeBackInWedgie! Strawb and MightyEags remain, as always the favourite for the coveted title as the wooden spooner of the Hogg.

Re: Round 9 Yak

I need 71 from Jimmy Webster to get a W over Scos swimmers in divvy 4. Cant see it happening.
Ablett has had a 60 odd and a 90 odd v St Kilda recently, We both have Ablett as C and Beams as VC. I am thinking of taking Beams 104 as VC and hope Ablett goes under this. If Ablett gets a 90 will only need a 57 from Webster which is more achievable.
Big risk but one i may have to take,
Thoughts??

I wouldn't. St Kilda are rubbish and I reckon the odds are more in favour of Webster jagging a good score than Ablett going under a hundred three times against any opponent. Looking like an L either way but you could damage your percentage if you make the move and Ablett guns it.

Re: AFL Round 9 Discussion

Cats are Freo's bitches ...

Pretty hard to argue with this statement. Geelong went in incredibly tall against Freo at Pattersons where you need plenty of runners to man the pumps. Blics looks cooked at the moment, for an 'elite runner' he had plenty go straight by him last night. Simpson had his worst game in Cat Colours and I'm not sure why Travis Varcoe is still gettting a game.

I think the Cats need to bite the bullett and give Brown and Walker a genuine crack at Centre Half Forward. I also think it's time we found out if Schroeder can play or not. I reckon Brown and Schroeder in for Blicavs and Varcoe next week. Plenty of our boys didn't bring the required work rate to this match. Continually bombing the ball on Tommy's head when we don't have a CHF and then bombing it out of defence when they have the tallest footballer in League history playing for them is tactical suicide.

I reckon we should run out in Hawk jumpers or at least watch a few Hawthorn v Freo matches because Scott has no idea on how to counter Lyon football.

The RustyCage is open for business after the Cage smashed out an impressive 2040 which was too good for the top eight Lovelies and the rest of the league as well. A strong win over a fellow finals contender sees the Cage remain unbeaten for the season and a game clear of the pack after PowerFailure was defeated in an upset result at the hands of mid-table iSwiTch. Despite this win, iSwiTch actually fell out of the top eight as Sturt B boogied right in.

thekickingkangaroo won yet again and it seems as though the Joeys are ready to pouch a spot in the top eight. On recent results I would expect them to eventually hop over Sturt B and maybe the inconsistent Lovelies as well. Apart from the Failure, the other power teams of Division VI went well with Isotopes, Raging Hooligans and Loose Hussey all collecting the four points but Rusty Cage looks the strongest of them all right now.

Failed Creation's 15 point win could be very Damaging indeed for Bren as they appear to be fighting over the one finals spot and Failed Creation already had the advantage. A few kicks here and there and that finals spot would have been wide open so well done Creation and bad luck for Brenny. Somehow, Footychick's Evil Penguins are back in the hunt when they won their first match for some time but a 70 point win over the Mustangs isn't going to make any Premier League coaches looking enviously at her side.

I reckon the top six look safe for the finals and the bottom four will avoid relegation because there is no Hogg Division VII. So the rest of the season will be all about which teams can snaffle those last two finals places. Hold your trades in this divvy, you'll need them in July and August.

Re: AFL Round 9 Discussion

Geelong fans are getting a bit Catty with Steve Johnson. Every time we play the Dockers Crowley, Ballantyne or both get right inside his head. He does stuff all and then gets reported in the bargain.

In the past Geelong used to be very good at sending the senior guys to the 'hall of mirrors'. Ablett was told to train harder as he could become 'our Chris Judd', Mooney was told to pull his head in and act like a senior player, Bartel was asked whether being a sometimes ressies player or full time league player was what he wanted to get out of his career. You know what? This shit worked and an enigmatic team turned into a powerhouse.

While I don't think we have the cattle of 2007 it seems that our standards are beginning to slip away along with our playing stocks. Johnson needs to be told to pull his head in just like Mooney was. You are a leader now Dog so bloody well act like it. We Geelong fans can grumble about the tribunal picking on us but the MRP has had a gutful of Steve Johnson and this attitude should be shown to him from within the club.

Tactically Scott hasn't got the answer to the Rossick Cube and mentally Johnson hasn't worked out a way to be an effective contributor. Scott needs to think about positional changes and Johnson needs to accept there will be games where he won't get zillions of possessions but still contribute. In other words, he needs to learn how beat a tag.

Having said that though I'm not real happy with Zac Clarke not getting any weeks for elbowing Johnson in the head.

PowerFailure has been living up to their name lately as they dropped a second straight match to fall to sixth on the ladder. This week the Power Failed against the mighty RustyCage who are on a real roll now with eight straight wins and outright leadership of the league. There wasn't much big scoring during this tough bye week in the lowest Hogg league but the Isotopes could hold their head high in tougher divisions than this one with their more than respectable tally of 1818 which was nearly a thousand points to the good of the winless MightyEags.

thekickingkangaroo got a boot in the pouch this week with the Joeys suffering their first defeat for many weeks. Pierson was no match for the Loose Husseys who have now won seven matches on the trot since losing to the topes in the first round. The Raging Hooligans continued with their fine form with a hard fought win over Andy's Izshi 18 and Leisa's Lovelies, Sturt B and Failed Creation all recorded victories to consolidate their positions in the top eight.

Outside of the top eight Brendamage returned to form with a comfortable win over the Evil Penguins but Lily's iSwiTch came an absolute cropper. Down in the bottom four congrats to Play4RedTins who managed their first win of the season over fellow stragglers Mustangs who must be waiting for their annual grudge match against MightyEags to unleash a point scoring bonanza and thus dodge the spoon.

Re: AFL everyday of the week

There should be less teams and less footy. The standard is shit and the fixture this year is appalling. Take today for example. Three games on and the first one doesn't start till 3pm this afternoon and they overlap. Ridiculous. Then we've had three weeks of bullshit bye weeks with Sundays that have only one match. The brilliant spectacle of WCE vs. GWS as a stand alone Sunday match.

Piss off the Giants and the bye weeks and have one bye per week. First round of the season should be played over one week not two and bye bye Thursday and Monday night football.

Re: Round 11 Chat

8,9,6,9,7,7,7,6,8

That's their breaks for the rest of the year. (If my quick adding was correct)

Sounds like geelong folk trying to make excuses for finally losing a game

Well according to bullshit theories they might as well play their reserves the two games they have 6 day breaks unless the sports scientists and teams of analysts can solve the riddle of how to possible recover with only 144 hours between games.

It kind of reminds me of the year that everyone got a hard on for teams not being able to win the week after playing in Perth. HTFU!!!

Vanessa, Benny.

Three six day breaks in succession DOES take a toll on the energy levels of the players (although it's not unexpected of a Crows fan in particular to understand the nature of a tough draw seeing as they never seem to get one). Especially when the opposition is coming off the bye. I watch Geelong every week and I've never seen us cooked in the first five minutes of the game. It was obvious to anyone who really watches the game. We wouldn't have beaten Sydney off seven days break at the SCG without Lonnegan and Enright but there was no spread or defensive run from the Cats and we didn't suddenly become Richmond overnight.

I don't know about bullshit theories but I know it's considered an advantage to have a week off during the finals and they avoid scheduling six day breaks during and leading up to the finals wherever they can. Hmm, wonder why that is? If you want to keep your head in the sand you should be out there helping Hockey defend his budget instead of wasting time on this forum LOL.
