Re: AFL 2019 and proposed rule changes

18 metre goal square I don't get.
That's smacks of the broadcaster telling the game it wants more goals which equals more adds.
Or on fox more dribble from commentators.

With the right conditions and player, a kick out from full back has it landing in the 50 metre arc.

Re: CRICKET AUSTRALIA REVIEW

The last 2 years or so we stepped over the line in relation to the spirit of cricket.
Warner has contributed to this greatly.
Can anyone see that previous captains,Waugh, Ponting, Taylor,Chappell (both)
Would've taken him aside and told him to pull his head in.

Smith isn't a big enough character to do this.
CA however should've stepped in on his behalf so heads should roll.

We should continue to play hard no compromising cricket, but have a firm grasp of the spirit of cricket.
Abuse is not sledging its just plain abuse.
Sledging is an art form that should only practised by people with at least half a brain. Davey hasn't qualified!
Questioning batting techniques and courage are acceptable.
Telling a bowler he's slower than his mum or questioning his field placements are also acceptable.
Giving Ol butter fingers second slip a clip, or calling a fielder custard arm are also allowed.

As for trying to get bans lifted, that's a joke.
These blokes are lucky to be able to represent Australia again....well one will.

If they call up Wade then we aren't serious. He's a shit keeper and can't bat at this level.

Carey has to come in and bugger me Nick Marsh gets the captaincy.

Not overly disappointed in the result. Finch doesn't snatch it and makes 40 we win.

Great test match wicket. Way better than one team making 500 in the first innings and batting for 2 days.

Relocate all cotton and rice especially to somewhere on the Ord river.
If a manufacturers pollutants are hurting the environment they have to put measures in place to minimise the risk. Very expensive exercise for say a steel mill or mine. If they don't they get shut down.

Can someone tell me why these landholders aren't shut down for ruining the environment downstream?
Why the federal minister, who presides over these landholders isn't held accountable?

I learnt to waterski on Menindie lakes as a 13 year old and couldn't believe how much water was in them....and in the middle of a desert.

Re: ATCA

Atca threatened with disaffiliation over the pitch shortening fiasco for u12's.
What are your thoughts on playing on a Saturday after a Friday night u12's game with scuff marks just short of the danger area?
11 year olds will do stuff all to the pitch

Angst over nothing
We had a trial and kids with spikes made a nice furrow marking centre.
I'm not the only one thinking its unworkable at community level.
Is there any possible solution to this?
Yep. Ours will go to hard wicket.
The other option is having 2 wickets prepped every week.
Double the work for curators. Double water usage. Add in the extra grounds. Some have 3.
At community level that's a nightmare.

CA are trying to standardise the game at schoolboys level. I'm all for that!
The national schoolboys championship is on turf on shortened wickets.
They are leaning on SACA and they're leaning on ATCA.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for making improvements to junior cricket but at community level its just silly.

Do it at district cricket by all means. CA cough up the bill at that level of cricket.
There you are.... Solved!

Re: AFL 2020 Season

Are the AFL players allowed to get jobs to supplement their income whilst they’re on reduced wages?
I know most of them won’t need to but some 1st or 2nd year players may need to.
Does their contract allow it?

Seeing they are getting a charmed run here they should be put into the Centrelink Call Centres to listen into the conversations the employees are hearing to get a dose of reality.
When the AFL does get up and running it would be nice if no supporters went to the first week of games (what's 1 more week after 3-6 months of no footy!). It would send a nice message to the players that the money is there because of supporters, not the other way around.
Good edit.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

He gave the example of road deaths. You could set the death toll to zero if you changed the speed limit to 5km/hr, but we don't, we choose to allow some people to die for the benefit of reduction in transport times. The same goes for covid, we need to find an acceptable level of covid deaths and get on with it
That's a stupid comparison.
Not all road deaths are caused by speed. That's why they are called accidents.
We put seatbelts and now airbags in cars to make driving a lot safer with less deaths.
We are in iso for the same reason. Less deaths!

So what you are saying is 100000 people's lives mean nothing because its messing with your lifestyle?

Well champ its a choice, your mum or dad, sister or brother or your lifestyle.

Sounds great in theory, I'm sure plenty of dealers would give him credit.

Yep given Ben Cousins celebration status i reckon his paying to use ratio would be pretty low. He would get credits pretty easy and even then I reckon a few dealers would love just having Cousins 'hanging of their arm' for their own ego.

If he went broke being a millionaire and still got credits he must have consumed a lot of ice.

Re: BOXING History + Stories

Good topic of discussion.
On stats its hard to disagree. Going from lightweight to light heavyweights is a remarkable record.
This stat alone says in any weight division his speed and skill stands out.

Clay/Ali however fought in an era of big big money.
This meant he had no padded title defences...against the biggest, hardest punchers on the planet.
Big money meant big pressure and he always stood up.

Sugar Ray Leonard's record is right up there as well.
His title fights against Hagler, Hearns and Duran showed his skill and movement. Those 3 were tough motherf$ckers!
Again, big big money bought about big pressure and he generally delivered.

My top three.

How about Aussie fighters?

Clubs will be given the opportunity to sit out the year if they wish to and I'd say the majority will take up that offer.

If clubs choose to do this they will be signing their own death warrant.
You're a big club with lots of juniors like my club.

Where's everyone going to train?
Something as simple as disinfecting change rooms on game day....5 times two rooms (Assuming you'll be able to use them)
will be pretty onerous. Then again after Sunday games.

Players on contracts will still need paying.
