Re: Rumour re Media Coverage

Radio stream worked for me on Android but couldn't get it to work on an iphone...lucky no one has one of those!

When I did get to listen commentators knew none of the players.... "And the North player kicks long and the players kicks a goal for North"....FFS...

I'll challenge you on that statement, Paul.

I pride myself of player recognition and don't recall getting too many wrong or doubting myself today.

Re: Rumour re Media Coverage

The app wasn't working again yesterday. Running it through the website worked.

Marks says "the player" "a player" far, far too often.

Yep, many of the commentators are guilty of the same.

The Digitalpass worked perfectly yesterday and Big Phil's call of the Legs v Cows was excellent.

Big Phil knows his players better than most, does a great job.

Thanks guys, appreciate that.

The number one thing I always take pride in, and work diligently on, is my player identification.

It was a great game of footy to call JK and I enjoyed working with Michael Maney for the first time in a while.

The Sebatron giving the SANFL another crack, signing soon with the Wiggles.

Where has he been playing? Be 30 now wouldnt he?
Darwin

So hasnt been playing in our winter?

Yes, he 's played country footy here in the winter and then with Nightcliff in the NTFL in the last few summers.

I know that he played with the Penola FC this season just gone, coming runner up in their Best and Fairest

And I reckon he had a year back playing with Toby Stribling at Kaniva Leeor United prior to that as well.

He has had more clubs than Greg Norman, the Big Sebatron, with a fourth stint in the SANFL now.

Re: 2021 Player movements

Surprised Dallas Hill is having a crack at SANFL level again.

His form up here in the North Eastern League with North Clare was only average with a few moments of brilliance. His work effort and attitude seemed to have questions marks over it like it did during his days at Centrals.

Would love to see him be a success but it is going to require significant change.

Dallas Hill is an extremely talented, agile big man...

He had a pretty good start to the year with the Dogs at FF back in 2016, finishing with 18 goals from about 8-10 games...

Then he had some personal issues to deal with, went away and played some local country footy with mates...

Now joined the police force and is in a good physical shape and mentally ready to have another serious crack at SANFL after a brief stint as a Maggies top up player the year before last, as well and previously a junior Eagles player...

I wouldn't be surprised if he turns a few heads and goes okay...

Here's hoping, apart from the Menzel brothers it's been slim pickings over the past few years having missed out on the likes of Jack Hannath and Sam Colquhoun returning too!
Jack Hannath returned to Central, post his time in the AFL at Fremantle.

He then left the club as he felt he wasn't getting enough opportunity in the senior team.

Went and played in the NEAFL with the NT Thunder and then when they disbanded, he chose to come back to Glenelg.

Who was the last AFL listed player the club has picked up...……………………….maybe Holman, Potter. Both of them turned out pretty decent.
Seems the club has gone away from that strategy in recent times or I could just be forgetting a few.
John Butcher in 2017, Elliot Kavanagh in 2016 and Bryce Retzlaff in 2014.

I know it was earlier than that (2012 maybe?) But how many seasons did Collier stick around for?
Tom Collier was at the Dogs for 5 seasons.

Started in 2012 and finished at the end of 2017.

Was an underrated player, IMHO, playing a state game for SA as well.

Re: CDFC 2021

Well done on receiving your 10 year service certificate from the CDFC BP!

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

Time flies when you do something you love.

I have been "hanging around" the club, going to training most nights after school since the early 90's, and then "helping out" is some capacity since about pre-season of 1996 when I befriended the son of then Dogs coach Stevie Wright.

It's not until you get the opportunity to sit back and reflect on how long I've been out there and realise that the club has been like a second home for near on 30 years.

It is sad to see the decline of the competition and the struggles that clubs have had over the journey, but certainly makes you even more appreciative of the success that you get to be a part of.

SANFL clubs form such an indelible part of the community and individuals alike. It really saddens me that my little 2 year old lad probably wont have the same passion and standard of competition to follow in 30 years time.

But, it is what it is and these are the times we live in.

And the Eagles were the hands down best recruiters in the off-season.
Umm, Durdin, Pink, Hosie, Turner, Landt?

0hhhh, Newman?
How good has he been?
Hands down the second best recruiters in the off season, the ladder reflects this ;)

It's funny isn't it. This is a subjective thing, but based on names and resumes, back in the pre-season, I'd say the Eagles.

Looking at the output of the Bays recruits, it has been some of the lesser known recruits that have help propel the Bays to the top.

I guess I should have corrected my comment by suggesting the Eagles picked up more 'name' players than the Bays.

At this point, the Tigers are on top, on more than one level. Newman, Brandt and Turner, in particular, have been fantastic.

For Bay fans: any idea how many listed AFL players were you playing against on Saturday?
I got told 19, I never bothered to check.

The Magpies had the below 9 x SANFL contracted players in their 22, so that leaves 13 x AFL listed players.

Cam Sutcliffe
Luke Surman
Trent Burgoyne
Nick Moore
Campbell Wildman
Anthony Wilson
Jackson Lee
Thomas Corcoran
Jake Weidemann

So no top ups from the ammo’s?

All of the above, except Sutcliffe are "top ups from the ammos" that have been regularly playing League footy due to Port's heavy club injury toll.
