Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Being on an AFL list doesn't automatically translate into being an AFL standard player that plays in the firsts every week, Brett Eddy, Johan Wagner, John Butcher, high draft pick Toumpas come to mind. Professionalism doesn't work for everyone, probably the reason why the average AFL career is something like 5 years, like I said draftees get stripped back bare and more often than not there instincts get coached out of them to accommodate a game plan, some embrace it and go on to have great careers but a fair chunk fall out the system after just 3 years

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Hately,Rozee, Lukosius,Munn,Rankine out to U18 trial match against WA reserves. We owned by and pamper to the AFL. Surely these players improve more playing A Grade.

But yet when the Crows draft one of these lads you'll be over the moon, can't have it both ways. These boys have had one goal in mind since they were young, to play AFL. Yes overall throughout the season playing League would be better for their development but the U18 carnival and any lead up to it is where their focus should be. Nothing new to see here, been happening for years.

Re: Port Adelaide 2018

just like taking the legs rule from the Lindsay Thomas incident.

Don’t get me started, the biggest over action ever.
Rewarding players second to the ball.

Rubbish, the real good players get the ball without having to go to ground and put their body over the ball. Going to ground and diving in is the way of the unskilled footballer. Always taught to keep your feet. Its a great rule imo

Re: Open Mike

The whole idea of gender fluidity is puzzling for many people, young and old.

Understanding gender dysphoria starts with the fact that sexual differentiation of the genitals takes place in the first two months of pregnancy and sexual differentiation of the brain starts in the second half of pregnancy. That these two processes can be influenced independently, and may result in transsexuality, is the starting point for that conversation.

Re: General tv discussion thread - good, bad, axings etc etc

I think this is on Stan but I started watching Billions
Really enjoy it

Found this on my Amazon Stick on the weekend, started watching it and wasn't sure but only watch 20 mins, might give it a longer go.

I watched about half an hour and turned it off. Could be interesting. I've read a few books about dodgy Wall St people, and SEC investigations, etc.

It didn't keep my attention.

Not even the opening scene with Chuck Rhoades?
I thought you were into that stuff..................

I'm on Series 1 / Episode 11. It's still better than half the crap on TV after Monday nights

I'm with you Jimmy, good show. Just about to start season 3

Re: Open Mike

I guess a follow up question would be...
If she was born a girl, would she be 6'2ish and 100kg right now?
She may well have i dunno.
At the end of the day she's not a female so she cant play female sport.
When asked the question, how did you go against males in footy, her answer was....no good.
But of course playing against 65 kilo athletes versus 100kg athletes makes a big difference psychologically (fear of getting poleaxed) Kicked 5 in the VFLW on the weekend......

Did anyone see her kicking action in the footage, she was lucky to hit her foot, she wont be getting drafted unless that is the standard across the board.

Free kick count 19-17 in favour of Sydney.

Its definately not the team of the century, only the team of 2017.
Theres so many past stars not included.

Do you contact old posters Wedgie and see why they don’t post anymore?
I joined 10 years ago now but I didn’t post for about 4 years or so in the middle due to a busy workload.

A quick email might entice some back?

Nah mate, we have over 6000 members and for every one that leaves two others join up.
I rarely have enough time to post let alone do things like that these days and I'm semi retired!
Maybe if I had a job I hated so I could post on here Monday to Friday all day every day I would.
I used to but not these days and am thankful that's not the case!

Doesn’t seem to be as many regular posters?
Lots that come and go then come and go again but not post regularly?

Lots post during the day but there doesn’t appear to be as many that post on weeknights or weekends either?
Is that the case?

Sam Gray named as an emergency for the Showdown but not named in the Magpies, any intel on this?

Yep, the Magpies play on the same day as the Power.

Trengove and Thomas in same situation, but they at least played last week, would have thought that Gray plays somewhere this weekend otherwise thats 2 weeks without footy. So unless there is a real doubt on someone Id say Gray plays SANFL and one of the others is the AFL emergency.

Gray will be at the back in Park 10 practicing kicking goals from 10m out.

Re: Port Adelaide 2018

I think only ‘hot spot ‘ would be able to tell with this one

I agree. Someone mentioned it yesterday (Kornes or Lloyd), why don't they have it like the big bash that the goal post lights up if it hits it or something along those lines.. Might look silly for the obvious posters, but one's in this case where it can have an affect on the game would be perfect

Dude at work has always said if the ball hits the post and goes in the goal area it should be a goal, we are the only sport that doesn't play like that.

Rebounds back into play or goes through the point area, then it's a behind.
I mentioned that very point on here and someone ( maybe Stan) ripped into me.
I think it has merit.
Technology still needs human interaction which is where errors occur.
Off the post and in is fine by me.
It'll stop all the lala power people whinging!

I'm all for this, the more interpretation we take away from umpires the better.

I thought the Crows had resigned him?

They are talking about the decent Tom Lynch.

I still don’t get the hype with the ’better’ Lynch.
Admittedly I haven’t seen him play much but what I have seen doesn’t suggest he’s a superstar.

I’d rather Cameron, C. Curnow or even Hogan over him.

Re: Port Adelaide 2018

Social media over the last 36 hours...

- Injunction needed, reverse the decision and give us the 4 pts
- split the 4 points, only fair
- it didn't even hit the post, it went through for a behind not a goal
- AFL is corrupt
- Crows cheated

This is the one that I find most staggering. I've heard it from a number of people too.
I just don't get how people can't see that it was at least on the correct side of the post.

I can see why people think this, the way C7 were running the frames back and forth created an illusion of the ball going through the behinds.
I'm comfortable with the decision, tough one to over rule
