Re: Port Adelaide 2017

Avg. Port crowds at AO:

Thursday Night: 41,810
Friday Night: 44,843
Saturday: 40,081
Saturday Twilight: 38,847
Saturday Night: 47,035
Sunday: 41,737
Sunday Twilight: 40,998

What is the sample size for each time slot and who were the opponents?

Also what was the average for the weather/temperature/precipitation on those nights and what TV shows were on that night which were good viewing? ;)

Re: Australian Rules Hall of Fame- 2017

I'm quite surprised when I go to Victoria with the coverage in both print and TV of interstate sides, they're not even close to the biased reporting here that assumes everyone follows Crows or the Power.

There is only 2 teams in the comp if you were to believe the Adelaide media.
Yeah, but mostly just one.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

Convince besotted ex Magpie fans who have jumped off to come back.

#WelcomeBackAmber

Upon the PAFC entry to the AFL the club forecast the membership and supporter base to be around 20-25 years from reaching it's peak.

Obviously most ( yeah yeah ) traditional PAFC fans had stayed with the club, the next generation of "clean skin" supporters who, not influenced by the Adelaide Football Corporation or their SANFL supporting parents would be ready, with disposable income of their own, to make their own choices in who they choose to support.

With the club on the verge of 60,000 members again this year I'd think that forecast is looking about right. Too true. And for us to take advantage of this shift we must be utterly devoted to success - and do everything we can to remain at the top in terms of competitiveness.

Remain at the top?
You gotta get there first mate! ;)

If he gets through SANFL this week, McGovern has to come back in

Yeah at Jenkins expense.
Even though he has kicked a couple of goals, he is a big girl!

Any chance, and I mean any chance he might put his 100+ kg body on the line for his team?

He tried that last time they played the Hawks... #didntendwell

Oh was that when he squibbed the contest and bruised his tummy?

Re: MRP

I must be the only person in the country that thought 2x matches was right.

To me i didn't think Houli looked at him and deliberately smacked him in the face - looked like he swung his arm around to obviously hit the player across the arm, it slid off the shoulder into the jaw.

Also they said it was an elbow but it looks more like fist/forearm to me.

Maybe if the Carlton player wasn't trying to rape him off the ball he wouldn't have swung back like that.. but if he collects him a couple inches lower then the player has a dead arm and nothing more is said.

What if Houli didn't act like a co*ckhead and swing his arm back?
Then he wouldn't have hit him high and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Big IF mate ;)

Might be wary of the 2nd year blues...which would diminish his value.

If I was him I'd take that chance.
Port must have made a very good offer to lock him away.

Wouldn't you?

Yeah Port have done well getting him to recommit so quickly.

But if I was Power-pepper I would have waited to keep his options open, even if he was happy at Port at present.

You're the only one getting personal and talking about pissing contests. You should learn to let others share opinions on this forum (which is one of the reasons I created it) in a mature manner.

I can't remember the last time you responded in a mature way to anything on here

Don't take life too serious Benny!
Whilst the current topic of discussion is a sensitive one and should be treated that way, the rest of the discussions on here need to be taken light heartedly as I'm sure they are meant!

Been to Bali once. Stayed in sanur. Loved the location. Got to see the country side and see a fair bit others may not get the opportunity or know about. Really liked that part. BUT Kuta is a piece of sh*t and would never go there unless I took the kids to waterbomb park and the memorial.

You get what you pay for in life generally.

Has anyone tried Pirate Life beers? They're around the corner from me and at one stage (not sure what they do currently) they only did their beers in cans, I still haven't tried them.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

No one is disputing your average crowd facts but people keep making excuses of why you didn't get 50,000.
Teams, time slots, weather etc....... we've heard it all.

Port will no longer attract 50,000 unless all the stars align and it's perfect weather on a perfect day in a perfect time slot against a team who attract supporters to the game.
Fact is 40,000 is a good crowd but while you're having a good season it should be closer to 45,000 shouldn't it? We've never averaged anywhere near 50k! Where does that come from? The absolute peak highest we've averaged is 44,364 in 2014 after winning a final in 2013, moving to a shiny new oval, having a ripper start to the year and being one of the favourites for the flag.

40k for 2017 is a really good result. We were picked to be in the 8-10 range. Adelaide Oval isn't new anymore. Our fixtures with home games hasn't been ideal. To *still* get above average crowds is a fantastic result - for all involved, including, dare I say it, one of the major stakeholders in the SMA, the SANFL! You're welcome.

We're literally pissing into the wind about a drop of 4 thousand people over three years. I know that sounds like a lot for SANFL fans, but in the scheme of things....

If we win a final this year, recruit well, have a good pre-season and next year we average 35k where we'll struggle to break even. You'll have a point.

Until then... pls. Some semblance of reality.

No hysteria here mate.
But 4 thousand should be a concern of some sort.
If you lose another 4 thousand you are back to the point of break even with profits aren't you?

The biggest issue I see is the price of entry and food and beverages.
I really don't think timeslots or weather play as big a part as people have said on here.
It's a factor but a small one.
Prices are the issue IMO

And I meant 50k to a game not season average.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

I legit don't understand the troll he is trying to make?

It's clear what he's saying.

After round 19, a Saturday 4pm game - our lowest drawing timeslot - vs St Kilda, our average crowd for this year will fall below that from last year.

Declining crowds, despite our rise from 10th to 4th, clearly show that the crowds are becoming bored of the bells and whistles that came with the new oval, and before too long, we will be back to having 25k at games just like the footy park days.
Adelaide Oval will not be the savior of the Port Adelaide Footy Club.

--------------------

Now I'm not sure I agree with all of that, but it's clear that's what he's trying to say.
Plenty of people think this a possibility of happening.

Not the ignorant Port supporters who just dismiss it.
