Re: Ch9AFL Division 4 - 2017

Steven Hicks from Portland to Havens as well?
Yeah package deal basically. Good gets for Havens. Hopefully Depalma can stay fit (meaning injuries) and play a full season. Can get 40+ goals easily when up[ and about. Hicks will be good for them but it will be interesting how they all fit in to this side.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

What does government handouts got to do with penalty Rates being slashed?
Amber was talking about it being hard to live on $800 a week for a family which would be very difficult, just pointing out that for low income earners there is extra assistance

(One last one)

You're right, they should just choose to earn $150k P.A instead.

I choose to earn $150k a year.........unfortunately for me, my CEO chooses not to pay it!!

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Any wineries up there that do a decent feed?
Plenty.
Personally I rate Seed Winehouse very highly and haven't been there for awhile but Skillogolee used to do awesome lunches, not sure if they do teas now or not but the lunch is served outdoors under the trees in a quite nice setting and the food was amazing. Last time there I had a ginger duck curry that was sensational. Skillogolee is at Sevenhill only a few minutes from Clare

Skillogolee is the pick for mine.
Don't forget to duck into the Sevenhill pub for a coldie either.

Re: Australian tour of India 2017

Ashwin 8 Wickets
Jadeja 7 wickets

Lyon 8
O'Keffe 3.... There is the difference in the match for me. Obviously M Marsh needs to go but its going to have to be Maxwell in as O'Keffe has showed this game he ins't a big threat. Maxwell's extra overs will be required.

Also on O'Keffe he averages 28 in FC but only 7 in Tests he needs to lift that.
And Lyon didn't get a wicket 2nd innings. SOK isn't going to rip through sides often but thought he bowled ok this test

Yep Don't blame the bowlers.

Re: Australian tour of India 2017

Just putting it out there lads, in case the selectors are reading.

My passport is valid and ready to go, I can easily ( perhaps not as easily as I used to ) bowl two or more overs every few days and getting a quick 8 or 10 isn't out of the question. I quite like batting at 6 too.

I thought my chance of a baggy green was all gone, but, those who live without hope are not living at all.

Do you have a dopey brother who can bat at 3 or 4 as well?
If so you're half a chance.

I sure do, but he's not much of a cricketer. :D

Re: I need to know....

Ok so I'm after so advice/Help in finding a wedding venue. Been engaged for 5 years now and the Mrs is now putting it on me hard to get married in Feb 2018, Today we had walk throughs at Bird in Hand Winery, Marybank winery, Mount Lofty House, Glen Ewin estate and Utopia at water fall gully. Having a look at the Grange and Glenelg golf courses next week. Any help would be great were looking around the 120-140 guests.

Geez its going to cost plenty, With this being said The Grange golf course seems the cheapest but looks really nice. At this stage looks like no change out of about $30,000. Grange looks closer to $20,000 than $30,000 the rest are basically with $1,500 of each other all close to the $30k mark.

Ideally we'd like a venue to be a 'One stop shop type of thing' Ceremony, Photos and reception all at the one venue.

The boys have planned my bucks show (Well its basically a weekend yep we get on a 42 seater bus Friday and get home Sunday) The wedding should still be on after that........ I like were doing a race meeting some where! I think.

All your help/suggestions will be appreciated.

My only advice would be........ after 8 pints it doesn't matter where you are and how much you paid for it, as long as you are surrounded by family and good friends is all that matters.
I wish someone had told me this before I shelled out $$$$$$.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

He has played half a season of good footy.....surely he gets a 5 year contract like Hartlett, Jonas, Lobbe, Dixon............

Well, Lobbe was very good in 2014 and led us to a prelim, we didn't know Ryder was coming at that point so locking him in was in order, how he has fallen. Massive fail.

Dixon, as a free agent, with Schulz close to the end and Westhoff 29 when we got Dixon, you wouldn't have got him for any less than a 5 year deal and we needed a big man up front. Don't think this one can be marked yet.

Hartlett and Jonas won't get much argument from me about, Jonas especially. Both TBC.

If someone sees Booney, can they please tell him someone is using his login on here and posting honest assessments of his footy club. ;)

It all really did start in the middle. Ryder showed how important he's going to be this year. I'd think most people rate Wines,Ebert,R.Gray,Boak,SPP as a pretty solid midfield, this year they might just get the type of service they've been looking for.

Re: Port Adelaide 2017

Port Adelaide’s Jarman Impey has been convicted and fined $700 over a hit and run car accident in December last year.

The 21-year-old crashed into three other cars, including teammate Angus Monfries’ vehicle, after a drinking session with teammates, before the fleeing the scene.

Impey was fined $5,000 by the club and suspended for the opening round of the season.

He appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to three charges.

Having already served his club imposed suspension, Impey will play against Fremantle this weekend, after being named in the selected side.

Youngster Aidyn Johnson, who was a passenger in Impey’s car at the time of the accident, was also been fined $5,000 and banned from playing football in round one.

I cannot believe he did not lose his licence as well.
Yeah it's absolute bullsh*t that he didn't.
I don't care who you are, you commit a crime of that nature you deserve to lose your license for a period of time.

Nice write up Booney!
But as you'd know form and stats are irrelevant leading into a showdown.
How many times has the favourite won a showdown?
I'm sure someone has that stat?

If Westhoff plays his usual game against the crows(generally 1 of his 3 good games he plays per year) and the midfield get on top, I can see the Power winning this one in a very close game.

Re: Life ban

For mine, people talk about the penalty being too high for the sling tackle and it's the result of that which has pushed him over the threshold
But...had he not pushed the umpire (twice), he'd have copped a lesser suspension and still be able to play SAAFL. It's not the sling-tackle penalty which is hurting him.

Agree I hadn't seen the footage which showed the second push before

I think it's a very fair deciscion from the tribunal to adjudge that his contact with the umpire was deliberate

I'm sorry but you don't deserve a second chance for touching an umpire..........END OF STORY!

Re: AFL Round 3

Nothing wrong with the banner at all. We did get the result we deserved last night. Like we did in 2004. Don't see anything embarrassing about that statement  we'll also get what we deserve at the MRP and every time we play - no excuses and there never are.....
Dunno, I reckon it's a bit embarrassing. I think the inference behind that banner message was that Port is the better side, therefore it deserves to win the Showdown.

But if they lose, they can say (as RC rightly points out) that 'well, we got what we deserved, we weren't good enough.' But you can't tell me that that message was the club/cheer squad's intention before such a massive home game.

Mate have you met the people in the Power cheer squad?

Re: AFL Round 3

It does show how dangerous social media can be. These two are clearly not with it, and before the advent of social media, there was no way their views could be seen by hundreds of thousands of people unless they managed to get accosted by a TV crew on the street.

Does make me feel sorry for them a bit.

Probably a lesson for all of us - we might think we are just talking to a few friends on FB (or on here) but if you say something stupid there is every chance you will pay for it.

Whilst their comments were disgusting, I think we need to stop the hatred towards them.
They are both clearly uneducated and I know one of them is from a very disadvantaged background.

Maybe Channel 7 or the footy club could offer some form of support and/or education process here.

They made a poor choice but they shouldn't have to live in fear of their lives.

A part of me feels sorry for them both.
