Re: Things that you rate!

The cricket is back tonight :partyman:

Hooray! I have an interesting situation tonight where the brother in law and his missus are coming over for dinner. My missus and his missus reckon The Batchelor is going to be on the big screen. I have told my missus that the only way they will be watching Batchelor is if he is the new number 3 for England.

Interesting times ahead.

Re: North Melbourne 2015

Despite my previous post, there is a certain smell factor to this.
I wonder if North fans would be defending this so vigorously if it wasn't their club.
I think we have become used to players being rested, but resting virtually half a side is not what most of us would expect.
However, if it was my side, I'd probably blindly defend it as well.

This is true, very true.

@LM, I'm not calling it tanking, not once did I call it that, I'm just amazed the AFL have gone against the very wording of their rule to prevent this happening.

Put it this way HH3, next week, would you rather play Richmond at the G or Adelaide in Adelaide?
Obviously Richmond in Melbourne but the latter was relying on us winning by 100+ or the Bulldogs losing.
Either option HIGHLY unlikely to happen.

And don't the crows have to win their game as well? At a place they haven't tasted success at for over a decade.

Pretty sure we also get a chance to bowl in this game so therefore still a chance to win. Richardson is in great form and the other bowlers have also been doing their bit.

Re: 2016 AFL fixture - due to be released Thurs 29/10/15

The double up game crystal balling can be folly. I'm sure there were supporters at the end of last year doing star jumps when they were "gifted" double up games against the Bulldogs in 2015.

Every year there is at least 2 changes to the top 8 with there being 3 changes this season. There is always a team or 2 that people don't expect to do well that have good/great seasons.

that would also explain why they are playing essendon and north at etihad - one presumes that once the upgrades are finished they wont have to
Essendon, Collingwood & Carlton wouldn't have played at Kardinia Pk since the 80's.

Essendon's last game at Kardinia Park was Round 21, 1993.
Carlton's last game at Kardinia Park was Round 20, 1997. (then known as Shell Stadium)
Collingwood's last game at Kardinia Park was Round 15, 1999. (also Shell Stadium)

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

Summer really doesn't begin until the Summer Solstice around the 21st/22nd December.

Summer Solstice (AEDT)
2014 December 22, 10:03
2015 December 22, 15:48
2016 December 21, 21:44

sun_in_summer.jpg

On the day of Summer Solstice, the Earth’s south pole is tilted towards the Sun. The Sun rises south of east, sets south of west and reaches 75 1/2° above the horizon at noon. This is, usually, the longest day of the year.

Re: 2015/16 Big Bash League

He got shot down, he looked like a fool and used a shitty pick up line on national TV to no avail.

Mel - 1
Gayle - 0

Unfortunately to be expected from a guy that supposedly has a strip club inside his mansion.

While his countrymen chase down 3/600 every second week. Sure, he's made a lifestyle choice, good for him, but any cricketer worth a pinch of shit plays Test match cricket for their country first and foremost, especially during tough times.

Unfortunately these blokes represent 15 countries when playing Test cricket which breeds confrontation and contempt. A lot of these countries do not like each other. I was in Kingston for the second test in 1999 and Brian Lara was roundly booed when he walked out to bat because he is from Trinidad & Tobago.

The locals did lighten up a bit when he passed 100.....

Re: Mankad?

Anyone else of the understanding that you had to complete your action before being able to mankad someone? ie - roll the arm over and then you could have them.
The rule has changed, you have to be anywhere in your delivery stride.

I think it was changed to stop bowlers trying to trick the batsman. Having said that, the bowler is well within his rights to stop mid action if the batsman is creeping.

I don't have a problem with the law. It is pretty simple. Don't leave your crease at the non strikers end until the ball has left the bowlers hand.

Siddle stress fractures in his back. I can't help but question the theories that have been implemented by the sports science fraternity. Despite the analysing of techniques & workload etc the problem seems to be worsening

A lot more cricket is being played on harder pitches these days and the end result is crippling injuries to those who hit the wicket hard.

Re: Thailand, Laos & Cambodia

Unfortunately I am sitting at work now - first day back :(
If you have the time pirate, it would be great if you could put together a few paragraphs about your trip. Highlights even lowlights, traps for young players etc... Food prices, beers sampled, all that stuff!

Apologies for the delay Corona Man, but I had to shoot off to Europe when I got back for work.

Koh Samui was great fun. The people were very friendly - stock standard for Thailand - and the weather was hot and sunny. A local told me that it hadn't rained for around 2 months. Beer prices still pretty good, I was getting cans of Chang from the mini mart for THB30 which was just over AUD$1 at the time. We rented a car for a couple of days which I can highly recommend. It allowed us the freedom to explore most of the coast line and visit waterfalls, restaurants, and other beaches at our leisure.

Eating wise we had a little gem near our resort called "Phensiri" which served up some of the best local food I've tried in all of Thailand. We also enjoyed our night at "The Rocks" which as the name suggests is perched over a cliff above the ocean. This place is part of the Kanda Residences but you don't have to stay there to enjoy the restaurant.

I found parts of Koh Samui reminded me of being in Phuket, but also at times i was reminded of Krabi. It does however have it's own charm and I can unreservedly recommend it as a relaxing holiday destination.

I have included a pic from our patio for you :
