Maybe North will reconsider supplying cheerleaders for them next time they are needed for finals.

Re: Round 7 - Eagles v North @ M.Thiem Hyundai Oval (Sat 17/

North`s recruiting during the offseason was well below par and we are suffering the consequences of our club taking the cheap way out. You just have to look at the likes of Sturt and Eagles to see what you get when you spend and spend wisely.
Well done Eagles, you were simply too polished for a undermanned and underpayed NAFC.

Re: Norwood & the salary cap

Would`nt surprise me at all if Norwood were over, but really who gives a shit. You cop a piss weak slap on the wrist and move on to the next season. If I were a Eagles or Sturt supporter I would be a little nervous also as I still can`t work out how they fit all of their players in the cap.

Re: Norwood & the salary cap

Unfortunately times have changed ... at least 3 clubs would basically go broke overnight.

Plus we'd have to dump the annual Norwood are Cheats thread.

How would 3 clubs go broke overnight if the salary cap was gone?
It`s simple really. The 3 clubs keep spending the same they have for the last few years and they don`t fold.
Why should clubs that have had their financials in order be penalized for clubs that still can`t pull their finger out.
Honestly I am sick of hearing this.
P.S Who were the 2 teams that were the most aggressive in their recruiting for season 2014?
One of them were on the bones of their ass but some how pulled some pretty good recruits. And don`t give me the transfer deal with Central bullshit deal either.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

There is a lot of discord on here and a lot of " get over it" or "move on"
But step back for a second. Those who feel passionately about not having Reserve teams in the SANFL have a right to push their cause, and where else are they expected to do this other than on a football forum dedicated to the SANFL.

Anyone who suggests they should raise it with their clubs should think first.
A) Don't you think these people, so passionate about their league, haven't already done that?
B) During the whole 'debate', such as it was, how many of the 6 clubs that voted yes actually asked for their own members views?
C) Ergo, the clubs not having asked for views let alone votes from members, how many are likely to acknowledge or accept any dissension from any members?

In other words, where else are these passionate supporters of the SANFL supposed to vent their protests other than on a football forum dedicated to the SANFL ?
I note that many who take the "move on" or "get over it" stance are either Port Adelaide supporters or have the Crows as their AFL team. Either way those same people have an obvious loyalty to the AFL or their reserve sides and not ultimately to the SANFL.

Personally I think it is a shame what has happened to the SANFL forum on SAFooty.net and feel for the administrators who need to generate income to pay for the site. Many members have stopped posting, traffic certainly seems to be on the wane and this might be a worry for the admin team ?

I am sure the "move on" or "get over it" brigade will point the finger at the 'whingers' for driving posters away, without a single consideration that some posters have "moved on" and "got over it" by changing sports codes or just lost interest altogether. Or god forbid decided that the SANFL is no longer for them and neither is an SANFL forum.

I have a genuine sympathy for those SANFL supporters who oppose the unilateral decisions made by 'Their' clubs. I've taken the stance to continue supporting my club by way of memberships and sponsorship but I certainly feel the SANFL has been degraded by the inclusion of the AFL Reserve sides. But it is an easier decision for me, not standing on the outer every week watching my team.
I also acknowledge the absolute frustration, anger and genuine angst many members feel that a club they have supported all their lives made a fundamental league changing decision without having the opportunity to not only vote on the issue but even have a say.

Remember for true SANFL fans, like fans of other sports, their club is for life. It's part of their family, it's their wife, son and daughter, it's their best mates and a way of life. Those who feel betrayed by their club will feel genuine anger and heartache which sometimes you can't just "get over it" or "move on".

And if you think it's all bullshit, think how you feel when your team loses a grand final !! Now transfer that feeling every day of the week, every week of the season. It might be a bit easier when you have 2 teams, an AFL team and an SANFL team and therefore you genuinely don't understand what all the fuss us about? Well good luck to ya. Not everyone feels the same.

Excellent post fellow Rooster 8)

Agree wholeheartedly with my Roman Colleague but, me thinks the damage has already been done.
Will be very difficult to undo :(

BS Id get it back within 2-3 seasons.

Wouldnt be that hard at all IMHO

I agree. I don`t understand people saying the damage is already done. If they were chucked out I am pretty sure the crowds would pick up again, but the SANFL would have to work pretty hard after that season as it would wear of pretty quick and we would be back to where we were before the two cancers arrived.

Meanwhile the richest club in the sanfl continues to sit on its hands while it reduces its debt and another club that was about to close it's doors a few years ago, continues on it's merry way winning a premiership and recruit whoever it wants. Am I missing something here

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Quit bitching about the past and come up with ways to make the SANFL better NOW.
AFL will always be the bigger league getting the majority of the media.

A good start would be if some of these SANFL clubs get their finances in order ( we know who these clubs are MW, don`t we ) then the SANFL might have a bit more bite when it comes to push and shove with the 2 almighty AFL clubs.
Mind you, it's no guarantee of any resistance. We both know the rivers of cash at Prospect have seen nothing in terms of any substantial push-back against the AFL clubs. For some perplexing reason, despite being financially comfortable, we've done the opposite. :?

Remember we were originally told the reason for the 2 afl teams joining the SANFL was to save certain SANFL clubs from folding due to their $$$ problems. I do remember Bohden saying that if we were only worried about North then we would have voted NO.

God bless Bohden:)

Re: Round 13

Look for what its worth, a couple of crows supporters complained to the security guard and asked if he could tell the cheer squad to stop banging on the fence. The security guard went to some WAFC official in the stands and asked if they could tell the cheer squad to stop banging. Well from there it all got blown out of proportion by WAFC, Adelaide Advertiser and everyone else who wanted to add their two bobs worth.

Mountain out of a mole hill. Lets just get on with round 14 and hopefully the Sturt cheer squad can continue the fence banging, so that we can have something to talk about again on here after round 14.

Rucci is a click bait specialist. That's what he was intending and that's almost always what he is intending. Maybe his direction is to do that for a few more click throughs, maybe he is just bit of a wanker, maybe a bit of both. But in the end that's what he does.

Regardless it doesn't matter, I would suggest the Sturt crowd and cheer squad will go out of there way to be a bit noisy to say the least. :D

Are you kidding/ Sturt bend over for the Cows.

Watched a Rugby union game the other week at Elizabeth and spoke to my cousin about their live streaming of the game and it cost the club $250 to stream it on facebook at no cost to the supporter, just the club.
SANFL is a rip off

Was it the one against Barossa!!!

How good is there broadcasts, it's brilliant

Yes it was. Both my cousins play for Elizabeth. Always enjoy heading out there when North have a bye... Sorry split round. Always make me feel welcome there, more than at prospect to be honest. :(

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Roy Laird on the 'gimmick' that is the Fast Footy concept, while also pointing out the lack of marketing for the season proper. Yet again it's difficult to disagree with much of what he has to say-

CENTRAL District coach Roy Laird has labelled the SANFL’s new “Fast Footy” pre-season competition a pointless “gimmick” after his club rejected an invite to participate.

The Bulldogs will be the only team to miss next weekend’s tournament at Norwood Oval – which will feature 12 players on the field for 10-minute quarters – and are instead focusing on their pre-season.

The SANFL is offering $20,000 as prizemoney, including $10,000 to the winner, $5,000 to the runner-up and $2,500 each for third and fourth place.

Seven-time premiership coach Laird did not see the benefit of his side playing in it and said the money spent on the competition would be better spent on promoting the home-and-away season.

“Between players, medical staff, officials, to cut into people’s time – the sport is already demanding enough,” Laird said.

“We just thought with that, the fact that it’s a gimmick product and teams aren’t going to play their best players at this time of year because of injury, what’s the point?

“It’s 12-a-side, from a footy game plan point of view there is little to be gained.
Laird believes the money could be better spent elsewhere by the SANFL.

“Then you run the risk of injury and in a controlled environment in training we think we can control that better, so it (Fast Footy) is of little interest to us.

“My concern is the main season and I don’t think there’s good enough marketing being put towards it in favour of gimmick products.

“The International Rules with the best players in the country could only attract half a stadium so I don’t see this doing anything to attract new supporters and that is what our competition has got to be about at this stage.”

Fast Footy will feature unlimited interchanges, a last-touch out-of-bounds rule and kick-ins after every score, including goals.

Teams will play two games each – on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 – before winners advance to semi-finals and then a grand final.

Central chief executive Kris Grant said when the SANFL informed him about Fast Footy in December, the club had already committed to a pre-season program, but he would not elaborate on what those plans were.

“This Fast Footy thing was a rather quick decision by the SANFL and we had already committed to some preseason plans, which we had to commit money to,” Grant said.

“There’s mixed views (about Fast Footy) but we would look at it on an annual basis.”

The SANFL has been contacted for comment.

Be nice if Roy became the new head honcho of the SANFL. [-o<

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Let`s be honest here, the AFL reserves in the SANFL has not worked out like we hoped it would. The comp is failing, not improving. Get back to the basics of a well organised and run competition, which means a fair and equal playing field for all that is involved without outside involvement.
Stick the televising as it has cost us way too much for the minimal coverage the true SANFL clubs get. Radio is back on board for this year which is great and a good start.
If it doesn`t work out atleast we tried something to turn it all around rather than sit on ones hands and hope for the best.

Re: Round 2 Norwood v North Adelaide

Massive question marks over JC, but didn’t cost us 2 flags. To blame him for 2018 is to undersell North who were Red hot. He’s certainly never struggled for a half decent list though.

No one in the SANFL would have beaten North that day and that is not disrespecting Norwood either as they played a cracker of a game also. It was just North`s day. Both coaches and teams should take a bow after that game as it was one of the most entertaining games of football that Australian rules football has seen in a while. =D>
P.S North to win today by 2 goals.
