Re: Taity's back!!!!

EVERY now and then, the internet slaps you across the face and says “hey, here’s a video you really, REALLY need to watch”. Often the internet is lying when it says this.

Today, we reckon we’ve found some footage which is well worth 53 seconds of your time. It’s Adam Gilchrist batting like you’ve never seen him before. Gilly has a GoPro mounted on his helmet and the bowler is Shaun Tait, aka the Wild Thing, a 31-year-old man who still bowls very, very fast.

The occasion was the MCC Bicentenary Match, celebrating 200 years of the world’s most famous cricket club on its famous turf at Lord’s. A bunch of Aussies were involved, including Shane Warne, who had his hand broken by another speed demon and ex-team-mate in Brett Lee.

Shaun Tait bowls a lot faster than Lee these days. Indeed, he still bowls faster than pretty much anybody. This you might have known, but it’s amazing to experience how quickly the ball arrives from the batsman’s perspective.

Re: Soundwave 2015 Rumours...

Faith No More rumoured as headliners for 2015 Soundwave

I can't like this enough, if it happens.

Seems legit as it was from an article in The Advertiser last Thursday about noise restrictions. I put it aside at the time and then forgot about it until today. A small article that I have in front of me but haven't been able to find online.

A plan to run the Soundwave music festival in the city parklands over two days next year will be subject to community feedback before Adelaide City Council decides if it can go ahead.

The council will embark on a month-long public consultation from next week before any decision on the organisers' application is made in September. The annual festival is planned to run for two days in February, a first for the event which is rumoured to feature US rock band Faith No More among more than 80 acts.

An administration report, tendered to this week's council meeting, estimated that up to 30,000 fans would attend, while liquor licencing would be provided for 40,000 spectators. The festival would be charged more than $44,000 to rent the Bonython Park site, officials said.

The 40 jobs a month thing is intentional by the Libs so if you fail, as expected you get booted off the dole. Even some hardcore right-wingers are disgusted by the Libs boot on the throat approach to the poorest in society. If you don't live in a gated community you will need to be soon when crime skyrockets

Class-warfare like this is to be expected from Abbott though who's still fighting student politics battles.

Re: Krispy Kreme opening - yada, yada, yada.

Popped my Krispy Kreme cherry tonight. Got 2 original glazed doughnuts and a tall cappuccino, they gave us 2 complimentary doughnuts with chocolate creamy stuff inside and oreo's sprinkled on top and then at the next window said because I had ordered a doughnut and drink they would give us another original glazed one too.

Us and one other car behind us were the only customers in the drive thru but while we waiting a good five minutes or so for the coffee to come a number on cars came driving in so was thinking with the empty drive thru and all the freebies they must be scratching around for business but looked more like we just got there at a fortunate time.

Not worth the hype original glazed were alright, the chocolatey oreo type ones were too sickly and the coffee was shithouse, even HJ's cappucino's run rings around KK's.

Faith No More to release first album in 18 years this April

Influential alterna-metal iconoclasts Faith No More are set to release their seventh album — their first in 18 years — in April of 2015, bassist Bill Gould tells Rolling Stone. The record will be a totally independent product — produced by Gould, recorded in their Oakland rehearsal space and released on their own imprint, Reclamation Records (which will be distributed by frontman Mike Patton's long-running label, Ipecac Recordings).

Re: Faith No More to release first album in 18 years this Ap

I found out at 5am this morning, and I couldn't get back to sleep.

This is undoubtedly the best thing that's happened this year.

I have to admit FC I'm a little apprehensive. How many very good albums have bands done after they've reunited?

Have we ever had a reason to doubt Sir Mike of Patton before?

This is true!

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

So far pretty meh to me.

They're trying to do what the Beatles failed at with the original "Let it Be" album concept. Except in just one place they're trying to do it in 8 locations. They're going to a city and putting themselves on the clock to write a song in a certain amount of time instead of letting inspiration come naturally. Hence why these songs aren't up to muster, IMO.

Still, that said.....better than 99% of the crap FM radio have on their playlists ATM.

I read all of the songs were already written beforehand but Grohl just wrote the lyrics in each city they visited to record them.

FWIW, I really liked FF first two albums but after that they turned into MOR Triple M radio rock.

Went today
The game was at the mercy of Cam White and if he would declare
His prerogative for whatever reasons to bat till stumps
Time will tell if VI conjure a win from here
However the game as a spectacle has snuffed out for SA , now seemingly out of winning contention

My intentions were to see day 3 and day 4
Thats all changed after the VI batfest , I wont be attending day 4 at this stage
Should I blame
White ?

The SA bowlers ?

Re: Aus v Ind Test Series

Something I have noticed over Siddles career

He is the worse first over bowler I have ever seen

Take note of Siddles first over of a spell, it's as if he doesn't warmup or he doesn't realise his going to bowl that over

So far this summer his

0/11 (1) in his first over of spells

Now 0/15 (2 overs)

Stephen Harmison might disagree with that.

Re: Aus v Ind Test Series

I definitely will watch the test match first and flick occasionally onto the t20

I don't mind t20 so much as it doesn't impact on test match cricket, which at the moment I think there is still a good balance in scheduling and players have chosen to play test cricket when it's clashed with t20.

Something has to pay the bills in world cricket and if it get kids onto cricket who may then have an interest in test cricket it's not the worse thing

The true test will be in the next 5-10 years whether we get a generation of kids who start choosing state t20 over international test cricket

I would never judge a cricketer on his t20 form just like I wouldn't judge them on their indoor cricket ability

For me Test cricket will always be the truest, greatest and most entertaining form of cricket

Fair enough and don't get me wrong Test cricket shits all over T20 cricket but I just thought because it's the Strikers which is now essentially the Redbacks T20 team, I could understand a neutral BBL match.

I have West Indian heritage so I always watch as much of them as possible

Unfortunately I just can't get into the whole made up franchise thing especially when players play first class for one side and then play for the strikers in the same season.

I don't share the feeling that the strikers are an extension of the Redbacks

No probs that's understandable but I do think the Strikers are basically the Redbacks, they're 'our' team from SA and probably made up of 80% Redbacks players and the same coach (unfortunately).

Re: BBL 4

[Yeah reckon it was Ian Chappell and he said they still refuse to speak to this day even when they bump into each other through media commitments

Can't remember why they hate each other though

Supposedly during a Shield game at an Adelaide pub (Chappell playing for SA, Botham for QLD) Chappell was mouthing off at him so Botham decked him so Chappell refused to speak to him again.

Only a few years ago during an Ashes test here they bumped into each other out the back and Chappell challenged him to a fight and supposedly Botham was just laughing at him and Chappell got pulled away.
