Re: Faith No More to release first album in 18 years this Ap

That would've been cool seeing them on that Angel Dust tour, a mate of mine saw them at a tiny venue on one of their The Real Thing tours I can't remember if it was Le Rox or Lennies. I blew a chance to see them on their KFAD tour at the Ent Centre a mate asked me if I wanted to go but I was only just starting to get back into FNM again so didn't but regret it to this day. I saw them in '97 on their AOTY tour but KFAD-era is my favourite era of the band when they were at their most 'We don't give a fk" state.

I don't like the studio version of Midlife Crisis but love it live especially KFAD-era like this in Chile when the crowd are all spitting on Patton, supposedly a sign of appreciation over there.

AgqszSezo0w

This is a nice version of Take This Bottle from their Download show in '09, it was their second show back after reuniting.

Re: 2015/16 NBL Season/Off-season news/Boomers

Awesome win! I got to about 3am they were showing hockey instead of the basketball on 7TWO so set the timer and went bed and then saw the second half this morning. I think it was a 3 point game at the start of the 3rd and then saw perhaps the best performance I've ever seen from a Boomers team.

To absolutely tear apart a very good French team with superb back cuts and ball movement really sets us up for a big challenge against Serbia next game. Bogut was outstanding played like a young fella again, Mills was good too and Delly with 10 assists.

Australia 87 (Mills 21, Bogut 18, Baynes 14) def France 66 (Parker 18, Gelabale 13)

Huge bonus with the 21 point win great for points differential if tied with another team at the end of group stage play.

I've pre-ordered this bad boy, and hopefully it arrives on Friday or thereabouts...

Pretty cool that Faith No More are re-uniting with Chuck Mosley for two shows in California this week.

FAITH NO MORE will celebrate the reissue of its landmark debut, "We Care A Lot", by reuniting with its former singer, Chuck Mosley, for two special performances this week:

Aug. 18 - San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall
Aug. 20 - West Hollywood, CA - The Troubadour

"We Care A Lot", which was initially released in 1985 and has been out of print for 20 years, sees an August 19 reissue via Bill Gould's Koolarrow Records.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

From Ben Hook's page on the back of the sports section in the Sunday Mail yesterday:

The Sunday Mail can reveal the presidents of six of the SANFL clubs met behind closed doors last Monday at Prospect Oval without the endorsement of the SANFL governing body.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss a range of issues, with deep concerns over the future of the State League competition, which has seen an alarming downturn in attendances in 2016.

All eight SANFL club presidents were invited but South Adelaide chairman Andrew Luckhurst-Smith and West Adelaide president Richard Sykes didn't attend. North Adelaide's Bohdan Jaworskyj, Central District's David Cavenett, Glenelg's Nick Chigwidden, Norwood's Paul de Iulio, Sturt's Jason Kilic and Eagles' Kurt Slaven were all around the table.

Re: 2015/16 NBL Season/Off-season news/Boomers

Sports documentary maker and NBL media-award winner Lennon Cooper has made his first Adelaide 36ers documentary 'Golden Era: Adelaide 36ers in the 80's' available to watch for free on YouTube. It's feature length and runs for nearly two hours.

'Golden Era' was originally screened at Piccadilly Cinema in 2011.

Re: Player movement 2017

Worst kept secret in the SANFL is out now. Was a dead man walking when Jared Cotton came back. He certainly wasn't if he won a flag (or at least went top 3) this year. Keeping or sacking coaches isn't rocket science: you live or die by your W:L record.

But ultimately, for most coaches, if you've won more than you've lost in the most recent season (or, at worst, the club has won more games than it did the previous year), you're safe.

The Cleveland Cavaliers sacked coach David Blatt with a 30-11 win-loss record last season.

Re: Crows 2016

It's a shame, because Harvey always seemed to come across like a club man who gave selflessly. Turns out he felt more important than the club.

I never liked Harvey and always felt he just kept playing on and on to break the all-time games record. The writing was on the wall when he had that brouha with Scott about possibly being dropped last year or the year before with all the trying to get the public on his side and did the same thing again when told he was going to be delisted. It was all Brent Harvey first, NM finals campaign second.

The guy is still refusing to retire and supposedly considering playing on at another club next year. Yeah good luck with that.

I used to frequent Big Star, Bank St. and Verandah back in the day.

Those were the days :) Another thing I regret not going to the Cannibal Corpse instore at Verandah with their old singer Chris Barnes. Just for the novelty value. A mate went and said it was packed. I think that was at Verandah's old location where New Internationalist now/was is.

Re: Player movement 2017

In fairness to Ben Nason, you have to give him some credits for the amount of perseverance he has to play league SANFL football.

Not many blokes left like him, to be honest less than a handful.

Hardly, left Glenelg half way thru 2016.

He didn't leave Glenelg half way thru 2016. trained all the way thru to end of season. got injured and couldn't get back into the side

I think Nason plays for Salisbury North now.

The other imports were playing in a better competition too IMO

In saying that the comp is on a very steep incline

Have to disagree in the 25 years I've been following the NBL this is the best standard it's ever been.

Back in the Al Green early Mark Davis days the comp was only semi-pro.

It was great to watch in the 90's but guys like Ray Gordon or Warwick Giddey wouldn't even make a roster in this day and age.

Re: 2016/17 NBL Season

I'm just beyond impressed with this team and what Joey Wright has done with them. Most of the bookies had us finishing second to bottom, I had them bottom and 3/4 of the way into the season and we're not only top of the ladder which is one thing but the hunger, enthusiasm and enjoyment this group plays with is a joy to watch. The way they seem to enjoy each others success cheering each other on they play as such a unit. It's not just Randle, Sobey and DJ they all do what they can and play their roles for the benefit of the team.

I don't think I've ever been prouder of a 36ers team.

Re: Essendon

Christ I can't get over the victimhood mentality of the Hird family, clearly now you can see where James gets it from. The guy deserves privacy after his OD but I've got no sympathy for him whatsoever just his poor kids and to a lesser degree his wife who at least has stuck by him. Hird is a self-centred prick to the end. He played a very big role in that drug scandal trying to cheat the system which is why thankfully his name deserves to be mud now but what about all the players lives he at least partially ruined?

Then he has the audacity to try and sue the AFL making everyone pay his costs getting some trip to France paid for him to attend some business course whilst still on full pay, a million dollars a year.

Finally decides it's all too hard I'm going to deprive my kids of a father and leave my loyal wife a widow to bring them up on her own.

Re: 2016/2017 Big Bash League

I didn't see this but last night but not a good look.

IT WAS not a great look for the Big Bash League last night when Channel 10 commentator Mark Howard told Adelaide skipper Brad Hodge during the live broadcast his bowler Ben Laughlin had a decent recent record against Shane Watson.

Upon hearing the statistics Watson had fallen twice to Laughlin in the space of eight balls, Hodge injected him into the bowling attack the very next over.

As more than 1 million TV viewers watched on — and millions of dollars were being invested locally and abroad on the live betting markets — Howard told Hodge: “Our master statistician Lawrie Colliver tells us Laughlin has got Watson twice in the last eight balls he’s bowled him in this competition.

“Really?’’ Hodge says.

“I’ll leave that with you skipper,’’ Howard said.

Hodge laughed and said: “I’ll bring him on next over then. Let’s get him into the game. Next over bud.’’

Watson tonked Laughlin for a boundary with his second ball and did not look troubled.

I quite enjoyed watching the lady Crows the intensity and attack on the ball surprised me, the skills aren't quite there but they will come in time. I often found myself watching more of that game on the TV then the stream on the computer of the 36ers game that was on at the same time. I even bought the Sunday Mail to read all the match report stuff. I was really impressed with Ebony Marinoff & Erin Phillips.

Katheryn Winnick is absolutely gorgeous not only is she also a martial arts expert but in real life she's supposedly a very nice person too.

I recently listened to a podcast of an interview with Gary J. Tunnicliffe who's done the makeup on most of the Hellraiser movies and he worked with her on Hellraiser: Hellworld back when she was unknown (as was Henry Cavill aka DC's new Superman) and she over heard him telling someone else he would be spending Christmas alone back in LA so during a break in filming she invited him to come and spend Christmas with her and her family in Canada which he politely declined.

Re: Celebrity Casualties

I just wanted to share this lovely tribute to Bill Paxton by his friend Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Muir.

"I'm extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Bill Paxton, someone I was lucky enough to know and call a real friend. I met him when I was 16 as we both worked delivering the [Los Angeles] Times in the morning. We were the only 'young ones' there as most of the people were at least 40.

"Bill had moved out to Santa Monica to be an 'actor.' I told him I was gonna start a band.

"He was just an incredibly cool, friendly, optimistic guy that never got discouraged when he couldn't get even an audition for the smallest roles.
But every morning at 2 a.m., he came into work with a smile. He loved music too, so we'd sometimes go to punk rock shows and then go straight from the Starwood or Whisky to delivering the morning paper to Northside SM.

"So many great stories and times I will never forget.

"I'm so sad for his family and their loss.

"It always hurts when someone passes away, especially when it's too soon and without warning. And the older you get the more often it happens. And each time it does, people think of the good things to say and remember them by.

"The special thing about Bill is I have never heard anyone that knew him, from before his success or during it, that ever had anything but great things to say about him. Truly an amazing person, who literally followed his dream and never gave up.

"Lastly, someone just sent me this photo [see below]. That's the way I remember Bill, not 'cause he's wearing [a SUICIDAL TENDENCIES] shirt, but that smile. And, of course, he was an amazing actor and director...but more importantly he was as good a person as they come!

"Rest in peace. You will be missed but never forgotten. So proud of you and thankful that I knew you."
