Re: Adelaide Crows 2019

Interestingly over the past 24 months players like Betts, JJ, Greenwood etc have been called spuds and now the very same people are saying how handy these players would be in their team

A few posters back pedalling pretty hard in case their club ‘wins’ the Jenkins lottery for next season
Jenkins is a dead set spud in Adelaide's team but as I have said previously, I think he would be a handy player in a decent team. I think he could do ok at Geelong sitting in a forward pocket next to Tommy.

Re: I need to know....

Same. Don't answer the door, phone and stay out of the front rooms so no one can hear you in the house.

I always told them, and Mrs Boon, if you're ever worried about a noise outside you yell "Dad" or "Babe/Honey" as loud as you can even if I'm not home.

Good idea.
I went for a run a few weeks ago, and didn't take a key. When I got home it took me 15 minutes to convince them it was Dad at the door. That was reassuring!
They knew who it was. They just didn't want you back there.

Re: 2019 AFL Grand Final

Arguably Australia’s greatest and most enduring songwriter, Paul Kelly, headlines the 2019 AFL Grand Final entertainment.

Kelly will be joined by Dean Lewis and Tones And I at the MCG on September 28, with Lewis to play a set at the Premiership Party after the Grand Final.

It will be the second time Kelly has performed at the Grand Final. with the ARIA Hall Of Fame member singing at the 2012 Grand Final.

Australian country musician and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter, John Williamson AM will perform his iconic rendition of Waltzing Matilda.

While football favourite, Mike Brady AM will perform his ever-popular anthem, Up There Cazaly. Season 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Up There Cazaly, following its chart-topping success
Who the hell are Dean Lewis and Tones and I? Never heard of them.

Not sure it's going to beat The Killers, they were as awesome live in 2017 as anyone could've been.

Re: Crows 2018 Pre Season Camp

Ok so what really happened here.

We've heard about the Richmond Theme song, players being tied to trees, and the talking stick. All of these are lightweight compared to what I believe is about to come out.

This is from a source "within" the club.

The players at some stage on this camp were, ahem "made" to hold each others testicles. Yep, you read it right, bit of holding the ball action.

Whoever came up with this as a trust/team bonding exercise is clearly de-ranged.

No wonder the players want out. Great Balls of Fire!

Discuss.
They did that before the camp

Re: I need to know....

I know some sad people have an axe to grind and will look for any excuse to sink the boots in which I do find a bit sad but my post re 1 +1 and being a feral was in reply to his calling me a ******* idiot, I still have both comments in tact in order as Carey quoted them when threatening me. Booney saw them and took them the same way I did. Others are choosing to remember them in an order/style that suits their cause which isn't unexpected.
Contrary to a lot of drama queens thoughts I dont ban people for the sake of it or for a power trip, I like most others used to giggle at Carey's late night rants. Threats like his will not be tolerated though, the site has always and will always be run like that. Some people need to get a life and move on.

I've never wanted to bog down threads with these sort of issues and have always welcomed anyone to discuss them with me by pm or phone if it truly is such a big issue in their life, it really isn't in mine but always willing to help others out.

Cheers!

Re: I need to know....

Hey team SAFooty, I need to get myself a hobby/interest for my mental health.

I need to get out and meet some people, as while the house is full, I don't really have many mates as such.

I can't play sport anymore thanks to knees that are rooted when trying to change directions, I don't have much time due to the family, but I need to find something I can do for myself for a bit of time each week.

I am going to start running again, but I need to try something else. Golf would be the go to if I had time but I can't reconcile a whole morning or afternoon time wise...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Not in any business I have dealt with.

I know 3 teachers, 2 here and 1 in Melbourne.
None are even close to $120k.

One of them has been a teacher for 20 years. Leadership teachers (Principals and Deputy) aren't far off that. Regular teachers in the metro area would be $80-90k. Country teachers might be on bonus payments and staff in disadvantaged schools.

Precisely.

Can I ask why he wasn't offered a redundancy? I would have thought he'd be a prime candidate to move on, I appreciate it would be a massive cost to the company but that's money he's entitled too either way.

It wasn't voluntary it was forced on a skills and needs basis. I have a relatively young team that needs his experience. He is (from an age point of view) still a couple of years from retirement and I need(ed) his expertise to help the young Engineers.

Ive seen people like this quit/retire to shove it up the employer, only for more redundancies to be offered in the next 12 months, sometimes its better to just stick around, esp in the current environment.

Agree and very likely. Unfortunately he is not willing to have a conversation about it.

Re: Things that you don't understand

Gender reveals. What the **** is going on with these? Apparently I've got one to attend in the coming days, I'm going to carve this shit show up.

So, you know what gender they're going to identify with then they grow up then? Might be pissed at the pink balloon when you show the video at "its" 21st.

(To the Mum) You weren't there when they did the ultra sound?

You know, when it drops out you'll be able to tell then if you wanted to surprise everyone?

Amen, Boonster.

When I was a kid, a gender reveal was saying "We're having a boy/girl" with no fanfare.

Also, cake smash photos. What a waste of dessert.

I'd like to add a couple more related points to this list.

1) Back to school photos.

Why? Shouldn't we just assume that if your kids are between the ages of 5 and 16, that they're going to school?

This excludes photos of a kid's first day or school, or first day of high school; I'm okay with those, because they're real milestones.

2) Graduation parties or ceremonies for each grade.

I'm okay with making a deal out of graduating primary or high school, but why make a mountain out of the molehill grades? Wouldn't that cheapen it?

People like to make events for everything now. Weirdos.
Throw in the parents who feel the need to put up photos of their kids every day on social media really shits me off too. Who gives a ****.

Re: Good Movies

Watched the long awaited movie conclusion to Deadwood last night. Was a bit of a weird feeling on several fronts - Re-acquainting with characters I hadn't seen in more than a decade and watching something that was filmed for movie purposes rather than a weekly series (can't really put my finger on it, but there was a noticeable difference). Then there was obviously the age changes to contend with (which were surprisingly stark in some, yet not as pronounced in others).

Anyhoo, what started as a trepidation filled view fairly quickly slipped right back into the zone of yesteryear(s) as soon as you heard those glorious references to "Swedgin" and "F***ing Woo". By the time the film was over it seemed a well told story that added closure to the series and for most of the characters.

It's likely prompted me to find time to start the series again from S1E1, such was the great quality of cast, story and dialogue. If you were a fan of the series then it's definitely worth a look, and for others I'd suggest smashing out the HBO weekly stuff before watching this flick.

Jimmy_041 have you seen this mate, and if so what'd ya think?
I saw this a while back on Foxtel and I couldn't believe the age differences of the characters from when they were in the series. Shit they'd got old. I enjoyed it though. I loved Deadwood.
