Re: Sydney Swans 2015

Fox Footy host compares Adam Goodes' 'war dance' to gay marriage in a bizarre TV interview, but media commentator Waleed Aly says adverse reaction to the celebration is more sinister.

http://media.smh.com.au/video-sport/video-afl-real-footy/goodes-war-dance-mcguires-bizarre-reaction-6577502.html

So there was a dedicated topic for this sort of thing, that you created and then had deleted and now are putting the same sort of thing in the Sydney Swans thread, which will most likely derail the topic again...

Sure why not...

Re: Round 10 stuff

eddie is ridiculously bad as a commentator.

I couldn't disagree more. I think Eddie is an excellent commentator, just don't let him near a Pies game. You can hear his passion for the game when he calls. However if I was a Blackbirds fan I'd probably agree because he was barracking for Carlton. A quick look at the ladder might explain that.

regards,

REB
even as a Carlton fan I love Eddie... what he has done for the Pies is amazing. Love hearing him commentate and yesterday was more about the underdog (bottom team in the comp) having a red hot crack against a top 4ish team.... could have been anyone down the bottom and he would have been carrying on...

Good commentary, probably not... entertaining, heck yeah.

Sure beats Riccutio mumbling through a call... now thats crap....

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

Teenagers are going to do things like that without fully understanding the consequences. They wouldn't even know that they are technically distributing child porn by sending the photos to someone.

They should know. When the laws were established, schools were supposed to have info sessions for their students.

The school that I work at, has provided (parents are paying through their fees) laptops for the Year 10. 11 and 12 students.... All students in this senior school group are given a whole heap of info on good citizenship with regards to the use of the laptops...

One of the sections is Cyber Safety and it is impressed strongly onto the kids the expectations of the school but also of the legal ramifications of taking or distributing these sorts of images, not just on the laptops but on their phones and other electronic devices.

The school also raises similar issues of cyber safety with the Middle school (from Year 6-9) students as well...

Re: Phil Walsh murdered

Terrible news...

My little boy came in and said that Phil Walsh had been murdered, one of his mates had posted something on Instagram, I didn't believe him, thought it was a joke or something...

None of this is a joke at all...

Just terrible... obviously I feel for the players but the poor wife, losing a husband at the hand of a son, just terrible...

I'm also thinking of Mark Purser the chaplain down at Crowland... just hoping that he will be of comfort to anyone at the club who wants to speak to him. He's a good bloke (Pastor at the church we used to attend) I'm sure he's struggling as well but will focus on everyone else...

Just a terrible terrible situation... :(

Re: Soooooo, how's this weather?

funny whenever we get a heat wave or cold snap the experts come out and say its due to global warming when its hot and its not global warming when its cold.

funny thou that we are seeing this report on a mini ice age when we are in winter and the northern hemisphere is in summer. I thought we would be reading about global warming due to the heat seen as the yanks think they run the world and whatever goes on in their back yard , in their eyes is what is happening all around the world

Global warming expresses itself in frequency of extremes. Extreme surface temp heat, extreme surface temp cold - depending on the season.

yep. basically the weather is a chaotic system, and global warming makes the system more energetic, which means bigger extremes
Will you two please stop talking sense...

Good grief

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

I've said before that I'm a Christian fella and I don't really have an issue with Gay Marriage... in my opinion.

My sister in law is gay and she wants to marry her partner... that's cool by me. Having seen where she has come from, trying to commit suicide on more than one occassion, running away etc etc she then came out and she is a relatively normal person now... she is still a massive space cadet but she is happy...

I just am really disappointed in the vitriol from both sides of the equation, there is so much hatred and it is just really uncool... suggesting that if someones view differs from your own then they should kill themselves is irresponsible and down right stupid...

Suicide is not something to joke about... it has hit my family hard before and I really think that joking (or not) is just really poor form

Man that sounds a bit too hippy doesnt it...

Re: Sydney Swans 2015

I've got a mate who is a proud indigenous young man, who thinks Adam Goodes is an absolute toss pot (as a footballer) and would have no problems giving him a hard time when he is on the field... he has openly stated that while Goodes has done many good things for their people, he is also hurting the reconciliation process at the same time...

It's an interesting and complex issue...

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

Not being able to walk through a mall without some form of sales. Promotion or marketing person trying to bail me up.

I understand it's their job But FFS if I am on my phone or even pretending to be on my phone whilst walking at pace then "No, you can't take a minute of my time complete stranger who wants me to buy or donate"

I enjoy short sharp conversations with the ones that jump out in front of me and say "hey sir! Can I as you a quick question"?
By responding with, "you just did" and keeping on strolling, it seems to throw them for a second and gives me a chance to get away [emoji38]

One thing that I have noticed recently is a fairly well known local charity, who I'm certain do great things with the funding they get, have started to appear in the city and shopping centres collecting. What sh1ts me is that the people doing the collecting look like they are bored to tears (no doubt it would be) but I highly doubt they would give the time of day to the people they are collecting for, just looks bad for the charity IMHO. Maybe I'm just getting old and judgemental!

While I have the floor, I'll also add Warnies cricket commentary is Sh1tting me at the moment too, especially the Jaffa and Cherry comments to describe the good deliveries.
My trick when I'm walking in the shops with my junior Jases is to pretend to be really angry with them... both of the boys know the act so they'll be looking very sad at the floor and I'll be saying things like "that was not OK", "how dare you speak to your brother like that" etc etc... just loud enough for the salesman/woman to not want to get involved...

Perfect... [emoji23]

Though to caveat that... im pretty much pissed off with everything at the moment as a famiy friend has died of cancer today... her husband died suddenly 3y years ago and she passed away today... she has left a 10yo daughter and 15yo son.

So after a normal morning at Church, had to take Jnr Jnr Jase to the Emergency Dept due to some abdominal pain... he has struggled with it for a couple of weeks and the Drs have said it was viral... it seemed to settle down but today it hit again and hit hard....

What I rate is that Modbury Hospital (who quite often get a pretty bad rap) were absolutely awesome... all of the staff nurses, doctors were first rate...

Also I rate that Jnr Jnr is back home and comfortable... we are monitoring and we hope to have found the cause...
Why wasn't the that "touched goal" actually a free kick for throwing

Umm... Wat?

If he doesn't touch it with his boot then it's incorrect disposal i guess

No it isnt. He wasnt getting tackled....
Incorrect disposal, throw whatever you want to call it, he still threw it over the line when he didn't make contact with his boot
So if a player is running down the wing goes for a bounce, isnt being tackled and it doesnt come back and dribbles along the floor thats incorrect disposal is it???

Pretty sure its play on and not incorrect disposal

I'm working full time, playing taxi service to 2 young boys and their sporting commitments and also studying part time a Bachelor of Education (Secondary Business) via external study through the University of New England.

I love Augusta when its sunny and the wind blows... it is a true test of the worlds best with lightning fast greens that are like glass.

With monster drivers, balls* that fly straighter and spin more its good to see the best really have to work for a solid score

To me the best tournaments are those where the winner isn't 25 under but when the battle for their birdies and pars... that is a true test of a golfer...

Stampy, hey mate... Not having a crack or anything so please don't think I am... I'm just wondering if you have seen this room for yourself, or are you going off of what Young Stampy has said?

The reason I ask is I have a couple of young fellas (12 and 13) and I work at the school that they attend. Some of the stuff that they tell me with regards to what they have seen or think happens isn't actually the case. They get the info 2nd hand and it's not accurate...

So I would suggest ringing the school and getting the full story.
