Re: SAAFL division 6 2014

Yes correct after 2 years i have decided not to coach Angle Vale in 2014 my heart was not in it even thou i had a verbal commitment in the time from Wednesday after the GF i had not put pen to paper so an opportunity arised and i jumped at it, and have taken up a position with Trinity Old Scholars helping Scott the playing coach out.
I look forward to the move to Div 5 with the possiblity of coaching the A grade in 2015 as it will be Scott's last year next season 2014.

Looking forward to being able to give a chance to a few players to come across and have a crack at a higher division.
Some position in football fall into place and the move to Trinty has happened with some good timing with a good mate Luke Mcracken coaching the B grade it was like abit of a package deal to get both of us.
Looking forward to the soild commitment that the players from Trinity give every season and work with such a young committee made up of players who help run and play for the club.

All up i wish Angle Vale the best in Div 6 the step up is going to be hard. And the committment from players and club has to lift over 100% to stay up in the higher div.

Now i get to move to the Div 5 Thread.
Gotta look after numero uno , good opportunity, best of luck with TOS
Interesting....Does this also apply to Wayne Knowles Phantom?

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014

i guess it shows that clubs can get into trouble based on a structure of paying lots of players OR paying nobody..FUFC is also an example of this right now..you have to build a culture the players want to be around no matter if you pay some or you dont..huge influxes of players isnt always healthy either as you can also see the same numbers leave just as quickly..stick at it yankman..i hope you can get that second side on the park..

I can never understand why Flinders Uni struggles, especially considering the Adelaide Uni experience.

Obviously Flinders Uni can't match the traditions, history, strength and depth of the Blacks, but with such a ready, captive pool of recruits you would think they should never struggle for numbers (and for that matter ability).
You're not going to get the good players at Flinders Uni playing Div 7 in a team that has struggled for years when they can go to the Southern League right next door for good $$$

Out of curiosity, how many players would your club (Mawson Lakes) have picked up and retained if it hadn't been for the lure of a few $$?

Re: Clubs in strife

I played in a C grade game against Fitzroy a few years ago under lights at their ground. Atmosphere was huge and it was a good experience. But saying that, it does give the home club the advantage to drop B grade players into the c grade to improve their side. Especially for teams needing to win to play finals.
Was that when you were playing for Para Hills? ;)

Every club will do what they feel is needed to get the most success they can, if you can afford to have players playing below their ability and get away with it then good on you, dont see an issue with it.

Re: Clubs in strife

This is what I have learnt:
Posters from clubs that have big junior numbers say the other clubs need to invest in their juniors, 99% of same posters would have had nothing to do with developing their junior program just played there.
Clubs with big junior programs get better junior players, coaches and support because they are, unsurprisingly, more successful.
Clubs with small junior programs don't like their talented kids being poached by clubs with big junior programs
Bombers4eva thinks noone should get paid for playing
Salisbury are the only club in Australia that don't pay players, yet hand out cash at awards.
Footy Chick doesn't like it when he Clubs in Strife topic leads to posters talking about what gets clubs in strife
Brahma will get smashed in 2014
Kilburn will get smashed into oblivion
PAOC will take over Kilburn Oval *
Some people will leave a club because they have too many wankers - all clubs have too many wankers.

*may have not learnt that

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014

Got to feel a little for Mitchell Park as well, running into a powerhouse in Rosewater who destroyed Angle Vale last week. Will it be much of the same for both sides this week?

Out of curiosity, do people think these "soft" games for Rosewater to start the season followed by the Easter weekend bye is better or worse for the side?

Personally I think it's got to be better, ease them (so to speak) into what is always a long season.
They Beat Brahma in a trial by 30 goals also. Sheff must be thinking this coaching caper is a walk in the park

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014

Hahahaha, you've been sure you know who this is for a while now PG, i'm not convinced you're right. ..............my thoughts have always been, ex player (coach), doesn't get to the club or games much any more, has Norwood as one of his teams and has a brother playing. Maybe not a blood brother but the B Grade full Forward has a familiar name........I know it is annoying you PG, but i reckon you're off the mark with who you think it is.
   hate to say it but you're pretty far off the mark also Old Farmer

Are you for real? I would assume nearly every club has an end they always warm up at on their home oval. You saying Ingle Farm doesn't go to the same end for home games??

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014

Mawson Lakes (7th) v Lockleys (5th)
Match of the round for me. Couple of interesting clashes between the top 4 sides this week, but with Fitzroy and Central United having matches they should win comfortably, it adds to the enormity of the outcome of this match.

Mawson Lakes a pre-season favourite amongst a lot of people have struggled so far - granted they have played the top sides - but they quickly need to turn it around. Travis Uern going down on the weekend will hurt them, hopefully he isnt far off a return.

Lockleys have struggled for consistency so far since losing a few of their better players over summer. They have an opportunity to consolidate their position in the 5 if they can win, and are a tougher unit at home, but should they lose, they will likely be leap frogged by Fitzroy and suddenly only be a game ahead of Lakes and Units.
You obsessed with Mawson Lakes or what??

Rosewater (1st) v Ingle Farm (2nd)......Pretty sure this is your Match of the Round

No.

Last two times we went up to D6, we were competitive. Next time I'd like us to make finals.
Turn it up :P

How about you jump ship again. Or burn bridges. You're good at both.

Re: SAAFL division 6 2014

Ok ok.... so from reading the comments below this, CU's probably best player, who is a known loose cannon, who has already been suspended this year, lost his temper badly enough to have to be escorted from the ground by his team mates, when this player obviously knows that if he had acted further on his anger his club would have been completely screwed?

Big congratulations to this player he did not resort to striking, poo smearing or spitting, or is that only because his team mates removed him??

I'm not saying the club isn't working to improve, just that to call them 'disciplined' is a obviously a load of rubbish. FFS, how many sides had to remove a player, with the aid of a number of team mates, because he can't control his anger and risk the consequences????

Maybe PG, youre just a massive douche bag .
I can confirm he is

Mawson Lakes Premiers U beauty!!!

Yep, it was a dominating win by the Mawson B grade side
You're better than that Ian. Didn't see you complaining at start of the year with Naley & Co (who are about 15 years younger than the avg. Age of Lakes C4) playing this grade, didn't those same guys just win a Div 6R flag? What's that saying about glasshouses?
