Re: (Miscellaneous debris)

Just to show this “The science is settled” Is a load of bollocks.
https://www.thegwpf.com/peter-ridd-scientific-misconduct-at-james-cook-university-confirms-my-worst-fears/
Science is not always black and white when humans are involved

Well Jim I would not have picked you as a climate change denier.

I’m not a client change denier.
Have I ever said the climate is not changing?
Nothing is ever black or white / 100% right or wrong

Calling people “deniers” because they don’t blindly agree with you is just puerile.
You’re either in my gang or theirs. Agree with me or I’ll blacklist and destroy your reputation.
Everything that supports my view is 100% correct and anything to the contrary is 100% wrong or outdated.
Who TF has the right to say “the science is settled”? Oh yeah; scientists like Mickey Mouse from the Mickey Mouse School of the Blind and Zoology & Professor Araminta Aardvark from the University of Neasden. That petition was promoted as proof that “the science is settled”
Here’s a goody: https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/07/children-born-with-lower-iq-due-to-climate-change-report-suggests.html
(No wonder the Greens want to lower the voting age.)

Here’s the scientist, no less than Australia’s Chief Scientist Dr Alan Finkel, I have listened to and agree with what he says:

On 1 June 2017 I attended a Senate Estimates hearing where Senator Ian Macdonald asked if the world was to reduce its carbon emissions by 1.3 per cent, which is approximately Australia’s rate of emissions, what impact would that make on the changing climate of the world. My response was that the impact would be virtually nothing but I immediately continued by explaining that doing nothing is not a position that we can responsibly take

Finkel must be a climate change denier for not supporting the hysteria. He should not be allowed to vote because of it!

Back to the Super Bowl. That’s real!

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

I’ve had my immune system chemically wiped out for the last 5 or 6 years now, so I’ll start isolating as of this week. I don’t stress too much (odd moments here and there I guess but no more than most Id think) about life, but I would worry if I thought I’d contributed to someone else who was vulnerable, getting sick. Thankfully managed a catch up with mates yesterday and a bit of pub time for sanity purposes.

Hopefully you’ve stocked up on Green Label mate
Let us know if you need any more.
I’ll gladly drop some off to you.
Mind you, you should change to Stout. Full of zinc: the building block of your immune system
Ha thanks mate, my Mrs and her Yugo genetics means there’s always a drop of something around the place (they think Rakija fixes everything). Never been a huge Stout fan, but was keen on the B&T’s in my early 20’s, maybe need to get back into them :D :-BD

I had to google Yugo and Rakija!

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

My son left his hat home this morning. Wife dropped it off to him at school and talked to the principal (Wife is school chairperson).
Apparently the attendance rate is reasonably high still (country town fyi)

My kids school has 45% non attendance rate today.
I knew it would be high but that’s massive.
May be time to shut school then.
With school holidays so close, I don't understand why the government don't just bite the bullet and close them now. Even if they have to shorten the other school holiday periods later.

Just got the final figures; only a 14% absentee rate, but that is Iggies for you! ;)

Honest question as I don't understand why, but why is the stimulus package giving 2 x $750 handouts to welfare and dole recipients when ultimately people who are working are the most affected as they will be losing their jobs?

I'm sure I've missed something here and not trying to be insensitive.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

Mums nursing home is closed to all visitors.
Anyone entering the building (essential services) is temperature checked on entry.
What's the point if its on their clothes, tools, bags etc. but they have no symptoms yet?
This would apply to kids going to school as well I guess, little germ spreading buggers.
I know of instances, all parents would, of parents sending kids to school knowing they have head lice.
You know, the parents that think its day care so I can go to the pokies or get shitfaced all day types.
I feel for these kids now going to be stuck home with abusive pissed off parents.

This is the problem
My brother had a dry cough but no fever or a temperature.
The doctor said he didn't have it but tested anyway. A few days later he gets a phone call
14 days of it and he still doesn't have a temperature (in fact any symptoms now) but is still testing positive.
He's running on a treadmill for 2 hours every day

Temperature testing does not work if you don't have a high temperature and not all infected people have a temperature

Have worked through :

Led Zeppelin albums from I, II, III, IV, Houses of the Holy and have been through Physical Graffiti twice. Only Presence and In through the out door to go.

Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality, Vol. 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

I'm planning on listening to all the music that formed my musical taste from the start to the end of their discography in chronological order.

I don’t usually watch 60 Minutes but last night my wife and I did, which just added to everything else I’ve read and watched about how the Chinese Govt have unleashed Chinavirus on the rest of the world. Not only the initial cover up but now trying to rewrite history. Those of you who have watched “Chernobyl” will have seen this before. This is not negligence.

There has to be consequences for the Chinese Govt.
As I posted above, the Australian Govt has now put China on watch.
The US will be the worst hit.

Do we have the facilities/test kits to do it. Some stuff has to be in short supply.

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 2 - 2020

Captain Andy Read to step in as Glenunga coach, with Michael Wundke also signing at Rams

Rising Adelaide Footy League club Glenunga has looked within for its coaching replacement and the Rams have also made a recruiting splash by signing a three-time Ken Farmer Medallist.

Glenunga’s bid for a fourth-straight premiership will be led by a star player stepping up as coach and the signing of a former SANFL goalkicking gun.

The rising Adelaide Footy League club has appointed three-time premiership skipper Andy Read as playing coach to replace John Cunningham, who stepped down earlier this month.

The Rams have also made a recruiting splash by luring triple Ken Farmer Medallist Michael Wundke to Webb Oval to play alongside brothers James and Nick.

Read, who joined the club after playing 17 league games for North Adelaide, said he would take charge of the division two club this season before reassessing ahead of 2021.

“I’ve absolutely loved the place ever since I left North … we’ve started to create something pretty special here,” Read, 31, said.

“I don’t know if I want to be a coach full-time or if I’m ready but I’m willing to for the rest of the year with some support before we find someone a bit more permanent.

“I don’t want the club to go back to what it was before we got there, we’ve worked this hard the last three years and don’t want to undo any of that.”

Read said he would be supported by football director Rocky Butterworth, B-grade coach Michael Beech and other senior players.

Cunningham led the Rams to the division three flag in September in his first season in the role before he mutually parted ways with the club earlier this month.

It followed back-to-back premierships under Brian Leys in 2017 and 2018.

If local football gets underway this year, the Rams will be shooting for four straight flags and triple Ken Farmer Medallist Wundke will help the cause.

The former North Adelaide, South Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens full-forward, will pull the boots on for Glenunga when matches do not clash with his role as an assistant coach with Sturt.

“We’re hoping to hoping to get him for a few games,” Read said.

“I went to school with the Wundke boys and have always been pretty close with them, and I know it's a goal of theirs to all play a game together.

“I’m not sure if we will play this year with the current situation … but hopefully we’ll get an opportunity to see what div two is like and if we’re around the mark.”

Brothers James, Nick and Sam Wundke played key roles in the Rams’ division three flag success in 2019.

However, Sam signed with Sturt in the off-season to have a second crack at SANFL football.

PC Stevens goes on TV and looks delighted that there’s no drinking allowed.
WTF is going on? Are we going back to the 6 o’clock swill?

Zero cases. What are they waiting for or afraid of? So, I rang someone who would know. Apparently the 2nd wave!
Huh? Zero cases. Borders shut. How long are you going to wait for this imaginary event? And how smart is this virus! Flies straight past Coles, Woolies, OTR & Bunnings and heads straight for the pubs and restaurants. No wonder PC Stevens wants them kept shut forever!

It’s time to stop listening to SA Health (with their impeccable reputation) and academics and open businesses back up before there’s anymore damage.

Maybe my phone rant worked because someone finally made a decision on Friday night. Didn’t go the full hog but it’s a start.

Keep the borders shut. Glen-20 everyone and anything coming into the state. But open the state up for business FFS Marshall!

Trump has millions, was smart enough to get elected the President of the USA, does what he wants, when he wants
Nonsense. He's a president subject to well-established checks and balances, not a king.
Trump didn't even win the popular vote....

Also i think the poor education system should take responsibility for him being presidents as the people who support him are morons

You dont need to win the popular vote in the US.
Its like our Senate system. It was designed to stop the two most populous states: NY and California dominating the election,
The system works well until you lose then the loser gets all huffy

There is a great explanation on YouTube - I'll see if I can find it

As for: as the people who support him are morons

Should we exclude all Trump voters at the next election?

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

I heard on the news last night from the police commissioner that temporary walls are fine to be classed as separate rooms, I haven't heard it on Facebook yet though so I'm not 100% convinced.
- Clubs will be permitted up to 80 people at their venue at any one time. This does not include staff. Areas can be inside or outside the Club.

- Up to 20 people will be permitted in each room or enclosed “separate area” within the Club, providing the 4m2 per person rule is used to calculate each area’s capacity and the 1.5m social distancing obligations are met by patrons when queuing, entering and exiting the Club.

- Staffed areas cannot be considered part of the capacity calculation, eg behind the bar.

- A “separate area” within the club is defined as enclosed if it is fully or partially enclosed by a ceiling/roof and walls such that the combined area of the ceiling and the wall surface exceeds 70% of the total ceiling/wall space. Walls, ceilings can be temporary in nature;

- Patrons in all areas must be seated at this stage. Family for example are permitted to sit together at tables without social distancing, however the back of any chair at any table must be at least 1.5m from the back of the chair at another table;

- Patrons will be permitted to consume alcohol without a meal, but they must remain seated;

- Bar service will be permitted, however drinks must be consumed away from the bar and while seated;

- Meals cannot include salad bars or buffets;

- No TAB or gaming as yet

- Every Club will be required to complete a compulsory “checklist” in relation to their “COVID-19 Safe Plan”. This will be made available via a Government website link, however it is not yet available. We have been advised that it will be easy to complete and we will let you know as soon as it is made available.

Last week the very smart virus was flying past Coles, Woolies OTR and Bunnings and targeting alcohol drinkers. Now its targeting punters!

If you didn't think this thing is man made (by the Wuhan Temperance Society) then surely you're convinced now!

Re: COVID-19

Letter from the Umpires Association:

29/05/2020 To Club Presidents, Secretaries and Board Members Right from the outset of the COVID outbreak, it was obvious the financial and social ramifications throughout all pillars of society would be significant and football would not be any less impacted. During this time, the Umpires Association has sought and taken notice of advice and positions of like organisations along with members of the umpiring fraternity. Our position has been influenced by the expectation that all community based footballers’ in South Australia, including SANFL will not receive any remuneration in 2020 and SANFL Umpires are in the process of agreeing to a significant reduction in their umpiring fees for 2020. Taking these and other ideas into account, the Umpires Association came to the conclusion that we would recommend to the Adelaide Footy League umpire fees be set at a 50% reduction for 2020. For all the stated reasons, the Umpires Association along with all its members feel that this a responsible and ethical position given all the circumstances that have arisen. On behalf of the AdFL Umpires, we wish all clubs the very best for the upcoming 2020 season, in whatever form it takes and we look forward to getting out on the park as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

Re: What The F***

A while back I contacted the doctor about this bursitis in my shoulder - last year I had a cortisone for it, but it has worn off and I wasn't keen on another, so he prescribed "anti inflammatory" tablets he said would help.

Few weeks have passed, hasn't improved.. was looking at my meds and it's called "ProCalm" - thought geez that's a weird name for an anti-inflame.. so I googled:

"Prochlorperazine, sold under the brand name Compazine among others, is a medication used to treat nausea, schizophrenia , migraines, and anxiety. It is a less preferred medication for anxiety."

Now i'm not a doctor, but this doesn't sound like it's gonna help my shoulder. :?

I take Naprogesic instead of ibuprofen.
Not only is it an anti-inflammatory, I haven't had a period pain in years

According to one of my bosses SA will open up borders with a couple of states in the next 2-3 weeks and the remaining states in about 5-6 weeks. Marshall is set to make an announcement on Friday regarding this.

Bloody ridiculous. Why not totally open up the internal State now? SA Health want to be cautious about a second wave. They're worried they'll get the blame if they open too early. How long should we wait to see if it comes? 2- 3 years?

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

Channel Nine News snippet.

" No Evidence to link Victorias Black Lives Matter Protests amid state of emergency "

My opinion is Melbourne is now reaping the benefits of the BLM protest two odd weeks ago.

Well done Comrade Dan . LOL :Hangman:

Your opinion contradicts the evidence .

Pretty sure they've focused their investigations on a couple of large family gatherings and a shop / family that works within it.

But hey, all guessing.

What evidence?

The one where Vic Health and it's professionals have openly stated where all the positive cases are being linked to via contact tracing. ie. Keilor Downs family outbreak.

There hasn't been a single transmission linked to any of the nation-wide BLM protests (yet, could still be a possibility, let's not rule out that any future ones could be linked)

That's not evidence at all.

With respect to direct transmission - maybe not - yet.......
Since that day, Victoria has had 194 new cases and still don't know the origin of 82 of them.
At least 4 infected people went. For the Vic Govt to say it's OK coz they didn't get it there is just pure propaganda. They took it there! That's what everyone was worried about!
And do I trust Vic Health to tell the truth? As much as you trust the Federal Govt to tell the truth. They say whatever the government tells them to say.

But, more importantly, on an indirect basis, does "My opinion is Melbourne is now reaping the benefits of the BLM protest two odd weeks ago" have some merit? Attached is Victoria's results since May 1st. with the protest noted.

Vic Results.jpg

Putting aside the possibility that some may have contracted it from the 4 known carriers or others: do I think people have changed their attitude to lockdown and all of the safeguards since the protest? Without a doubt. I have seen it every day since.
Many are not keeping distance anymore. Half my daily walk time I'm asking people to move to the left now
I see very few people using the handwash in the supermarket anymore.
Mrs Jimmy has topped spraying me with Glen 20 when get back from shopping!
My attitude has totally changed to: "**** you state government. If you're not taking it seriously then neither will I"

That's why I think he's right: It's the indirect consequences that have come back to bite them and all state governments

(BTW the rest of the state governments must be having a collective sigh of relief they may have dodged a bullet)

As an extension looking at the graph: in hindsight; was the May 12th lifting of restrictions in Victoria premature considering they were still averaging 11 per day in the week before?

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)

Another interesting table from Victoria - the moving average

Vic Results MA.jpg

Note they reduced restrictions on May 11 when the 7 day moving average was on a steep upward trajectory

The June 1st reduction were far more justified

Re: I need to know....

I love watching Border Security because I travel so much
It has now occurred to me that our customs people are racists.
Have you noticed how they always pick on asians?
Is it a coincidence that they use beagles? Beagles are an English breed.
I need to know: English beagles always pick out the food in the asians baggage so are they racist?
