Felt sorry for the kid last night.
Hope its not long term.

I'm sure they know a lot more than me but I was staggered he played.
Thurs night game after playing on Saturday didnt seem ideal. Would've given him another run in the sanfl.

Re: CDFC 2021

With Kris Grant going i wonder if we will go outside the club for the new CEO or stick with a CDFC person like we tend to do

I would hope they go external. I think we need someone to come in and look at the club from top to bottom with a completely different eye and mind set.

Sadly though I'm not sure our club is 'comfortable' with outsiders coming in and having an influence so expecting it to be one of the lads.

What do Dogs fans want from a new CEO, for me the top items have to be:

-Create a framework and structure that re-engages the local community. I feel the last 5 years has really seen the club lose the communities hearts and minds. A stronger financial position may allow for this and could see the creation of a 'bulldog foundation' type arrangement in which money raised by the club could assist with local programs costs / individual inclusion funds.
-Review the junior development program with an eye to creating an innovative and industry leading pathway to league football. Including building much stronger relationships with the clubs within our region. Our whole junior development needs a review especially for those making the jump from 18's to senior football . Would love to see the club involved with one of the local public schools to offer a football scholarship. (potentially this is already happening but I haven't heard of it)
-Explore means in which the club can become a stronger employer for potential recruits and established current players.
-Continue to find / increase income opportunities at Grand Central. Solely relying on Pokie / Bar money doesn't cut the mustard anymore. There has to be ways to generate more income from such a strong community building asset.
27 of the 44 who played league or reserves on the weekend came through the underage program. Not sure how that matches with the other clubs but i would say that's reasonable development for a program that is always bottom of the ladder.

If runners cant abuse oppo players then some clubs would struggle to get a runner. Only reason to be a runner if to sledge everyone

Re: COVID-19

Div 5 I reckon
Yeah I can't recall them being any higher. Generally have fluctuated between 5 and 6.
There are many in that category, most of the clubs north of GJR.

EP got to div 1 IIRC
Salisbury 3?

Have the Beff been higher than 5?

Smitty 4.

Lodge, Units 5?

I'm talking since 95 when it pretty much all became 1 I think.
Salis def div 3
Lodge i think were in 4 and meant to go to 3 but ended up in 6 after requesting to go down due to players leaving i think

I thought he showed a bit & could have been a future captain.

If he is a future captain that sums up the club. He's a dud.

Surely not? Have they lost a tonne of players or something?

Re: Round 16 Dogs vs Power Reserves

Doesnt say much for your power reserves players they should be above SANFL level .

Why, cos they're listed? You need to get better, period.

Yeah cos they're listed. Your recruiting gurus cherry picked the best they could from SANFL/WAFL etc at draft time so you'd think they should be above SANFL level.

Not so, this year at the draft Port took :

Joss Sinn, 18, Sandringham Dragons
Hugh Jackson, 18, North Adelaide ( 1 SANFL reserves game )
Dante Visentini, 18, Sandringham Dragons
Jase Burgoyne, 18, Woodville West Torrens ( 3 SANFL games )

A combined total of 4 senior matches. All of which get a $105,000 salary as 1st year draftees.

Your simple measure of money, is wrong. Your assumption "they're all above SANFL" standard, is wrong.
iF it was like the old system, doubt any of these would be playing League footy

Re: 2023 Adelaide footy League - Division 6

yeah socccers popularity in the north is only growing and a massive concern for footy clubs.

I just can't see how EP, Eliz, CU, Smith can all survive with the shift of populations and demographics.
The Paralowie/Parafield Gardens/Salisbury area is heading the same way. If you walked down John St in Salisbury today it'd be unrecognisable to the one of 25 years ago when we were growing up, and there wouldn't be many potential footballers (or businesses that might sponsor football clubs) along there anymore.
Especially when old salisbury people head up the hill to Golden Grove. Parabanks is better than the village anyway

Re: Opening Round - 2023

https://www.womens.afl/news/118790/-she-s-just-a-great-person-danger-thrilled-to-have-daisy-at-the-cats

"We didn’t hire Daisy because she's a female. We hired Daisy because of her qualifications as a student of the game, as someone who has been involved in it for a really long period of time," Dangerfield told womens.afl .

"You listen to Daisy when she commentates, and she nails it, it takes some of the commentators half a game to catch up with where the game is actually flowing, and she's picked up on that immediately. We'll look to draw on that.

*Insert Mutley laugh here*
