Re: Weirdest thing you have seen on a football field

Back in the old CDFA Days Slaisbury West v Brahma Lodge at Salisbury West
The new send off rule just introduced and a player from Brahma Lodge bench run on as player got sent off
As Salisbury West called for the count, Brahma Lodge players scattered everywhere
By the time the players lined up and a count done Brahma Lodge only had 14 players on the ground, blokes hid in cars with one car taking off down the road with a player in it
Funnily enough once the game started Brahma Lodge had the full compliment back on the field

Re: Ch9 AFL Division 6 - 2015

Ok thought try something a little different.. seemed a good idea at the time, but has since proven quite difficult haha! Looking for some input here from the specialists.. trying to work out a D6R team of the year

Only looked at players who had played 6 or more games - too much quality of players below that many games, makes it too hard! I am largely going off memory of what I've seen this season, which is not great in my old age, so feel free to correct where needed..

Still need a back pocket too haha

F: Dwayne Nisbet (Smithfield), Matthew Lehman (Brahma Lodge), Shawn Anderson (West Croydon)
HF: Brian Rudgley (Brahma Lodge), Sam Shaw (Smithfield), Tim Viner-Smith (Trinity OS)
C: Nathan Wright (Trinity OS), Blake Foody (Lockleys), Adam Gully (Ingle Farm)
HB: Michael Dimuccio (Trinity OS), Dom Ascoli (Lockleys), Ben Bradford (Lockleys)
B: Owen Foureur (Lockleys), Tony Millwood (Smithfield), ???

Ruck: Ryan Jarman (Smithfield), Alex McAskill (Fitzroy), Ryan Palmer (Trinity OS)?

Int: Michael Nelson (Trinity OS), Curtis Smith (Brahma Lodge), Nathan Coulson (Smithfield)

Coaching Staff: human_torpedo, Arch44, Zartan

couldn't get DicknBones into the coaches box? His side is currently 2nd ;)

Re: Young coaches.

Different sport but I captain coached an A Grade cricket side/club to a losing Grand Final at 19.

Age is no barrier if you can be upfront, honest and listen to all age groups. I captained a B Grade footy side at 21 when I was working arvo's and couldn't make most trainings, none of the older blokes had any qualms with it, they let me know on a Saturday night after a few frothies if I acted like a dickhead.

I went one better, I won ours as Captain Coach at 19 ;)

Absolutely it is. The SAAFL aren't a charity, they need money to run like any other organisation.

Home Finals and Grand Finals makes up approximately 13% of the SAAFL Revenue each year

Grand Final catering at Thebarton makes up approximately 13% of the SAAFL Revenue each year

Club Call Fees (excluding Insurance) makes up approximately 17% of the SAAFL Revenue each year

Nope :D

Round 1 will tell me mostly what I need to know I think!

Adel Luth v Woody South
Fitzroy v Ingle Farm
Houghton v Trinity
Mawson Lakes v Mitchell Pk
West Croydon v Brahma

Results from these matches will speak volumes,,

Easy Round

Woody Sth - 86 points
Ingle Farm- 38 points
Trinity- 18 Points
Mitchell park- 4 points
Brahma- 28 points

you obviously don't rate home ground advantage

Re: CH9AFL Division 6 2016

Right lets start making a list of the foods to trial at clubs or near clubs.. I need to satisfy my fat guts over the coming weeks! please help with adding to the list..

Adelaide Lutheran - The chicken burger ranks up there with one of the best feeds I've had this year! Also the hotdog with the lot was good value.
Brahma Lodge - ??
Fitzroy - ??
Houghton - Their hot chips apparently rank as the best going around
Ingle Farm - The pies are good but far too hot
Mawson Lakes - ??
Mitchell Park - Steak sanga w/lot .. don't they also have a highly rated pizza bar nearby?
Trinity OS - Caesars palace chicken shop
West Croydon - Pie in the canteen, dog rolls on Hanson Rd
Woodville South - ??

At The Lodge get the Fat Boy Special - Kransky, Steak, Snag, Egg, Bacon & Onion in a Roll $9 (Bellman used to smash 2 of these bad boys down before a game)

This was possibly the greatest thing I've eaten at a footy game EVER!! Worth every cent.. the only issue I had was trying to work out how I would fit it in my big mouth - turned out not to be a problem :D :D

Glad I don't play for Brahma Lodge - I would be twice the size after a season smashing into those every week!!

Sorry I was a late scratching or I would have been serving you, glad you enjoyed it :D

Re: CH9AFL Division 2 2016

Saw something today at the SHOC v SCOTCH game that caused much debate in my talking circles. Behind was scored and the ball went on an angle and bounced back in to play. The bloke kicking out picks the ball up and whilst running back to the goal square does an innocent chip to himself....

In the rules of the game is that a ball up?

Also is it a free kick in the SAAFL of a ball is punched through the sticks on the full as a rushed behind from a ball up?
No free in the SAAFL

Well I'll be ******! Rulebook gave us a free (and goal) for that last year.....

Should have bought a lotto ticket after.

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017

To be fair, at the moment, don't think 11 players will have the dominant affect you think - they'll be good, but don't think they'll be the calibre of Smithfield or Salis West.. it's still half a team made up of B/C graders.

They'll be good in Div 7 - prob flag favorites - but unless they recruit another 10 genuine A graders they wouldn't make much impact on Div 6..

I guess the question is, would a Div5 Premiership side that folds the following year and comes back into Div7 with half of the Div 5 side beat a Div6 side? or more to the point would they beat a D1Reserves side? 8)

Halfway mark Divsion 6 team of the year
Feel free to add/edit!

F: A Gerardis (FIT), D. Mcintyre (BL), D. Cotter (ELIZ)
HF: J. Turner (WC), B. Sanderson (IF), J. Giddings (PUL)
C: L. Woodcock (WC). C. Bourke (FIT), A .Spence (IF)
HB: D. Ward (SW), J. O'Hara (TOS), T. Mattner (PUL)
B: D. Huitema (BL) , C. Rowlands (PUL), S .Cavallaro (TOS)

Ruck: M. Reade (PUL), D. Tucker (PUL), C. Beaty (FIT)

Int: A. Reeves (ELIZ), B. Mitchell (ELIZ), S. Currie (PUL), J. McMurtrie (HD)

Emg: D. Steele (BL), L. Scicluna (FIT), S. Cooke (PUL),

Coach: Will James (PUL)

I would have B. Grose in the team of the year before Ward, Bourke and McMurtrie. He gets his 25+ touches a game plus 10 tackles. He would be top 2 with Hooters in our best and fairest count.

Also on ruckman Gannell was my toughest opponent to date.

Oh PLEASE, you would have no idea who is in the top 2 of the BnF as you are struggling to get into a jog most weeks

Re: Adelaide Footy League D7 - 2017

Hey All, Unfortunately we had a pretty serious incident in our game satdee, one of our favourites is in a bad way in hospital.

If you like, chip in to help:

https://www.gofundme.com/travishyde

The Mitchell Park Football Club is a tight knit community, sadly one of our favourite sons was seriously hurt on the weekend laying his body on the line for our club. He needs your help!

Travis Hyde pushed back into a contest and copped a knee to his side. The knee pushed through his ribcage and punctured his lung requiring a chest drain. Trav has had litres of blood drained from his chest cavity, is in significant amounts of pain and is still in hospital.

Obviously this means Trav will be out of footy action for a while, but more importantly this also means he is unable to work as a labourer. With the clubs insurance only covering 50% of his medical expenses, Trav needs a bit of help to get through.

We're not asking for a lot of money, this isnt about getting a new car or funding an overseas trip, just enough to fend off the banks for a month. Medical costs in the hundreds (thus far) and a newly signed mortgage means we need about ~$2.5k to help Trav to get through this period.

This is a Mitchell Park Football Club initiative, Trav wouldn’t have expected or wanted it, but we're doing it anyway. We also understand players get injured, but considering the extreme nature of Trav's injuries and the impact it will have on his life outside of footy, we thought this was something we could do to help one of our own.

Trav has provided us all with many moments of elation since he’s come to Mitchell Park. Suffice to say the 2015 flag simply would not have occurred without him. He’s now a Vice Captain and a leader within our community.

So get behind him like he has for us. Chip in if you can. Anything helps.

Morell, have you contacted the League to see what the lad might be entitled to under the insurance?? If not I suggest make a phone call as you might find some of these expenses will be covered

All over that......Had a chat with JK last week

excellent, hopefully The League has been able to offer something to help ;)

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 6 - 2017

Random question.. player signs at a club from say SANFL and is worth 4pts, then plays a full season, maybe couple weeks of finals, following season is 3pts, and plays first portion of the next year.. decides he wants to go elsewhere and leaves.. Changes his mind before the clearance cut off and returns to the club - is that player still 3pts or because they've played 25 games are they zero points on returning?

would still be 3 as its based on what he starts the year off at
