Yep... what an arsehole! You just don't do that, do you?

Watch the RSPCA & PETA get on their high horse over this......he's been busted on national television during the biggest week in Australian Gallops. Wouldn't mind betting he would never do that again.....

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

But you’d have a bye instead and money coming in ?
A Bye doesn’t incur costs such as umpires, players etc
So u run at a loss when u play angle vale ??
It's pretty basic maths.

Two Wells played AV at home twice last year and were definitely considering seeking compensation from the league as it put them about $4k down on what their usual home game takings would be against any other club.

That's $4k they've got to make up elsewhere.

Every other APFL club, depending on their home game financials, would be between $1500 to $2000 worse off for hosting the Owls.

These are just facts, I found a fair few of the Owls players pretty genuine blokes who want to have a kick. This situation is hardly the fault of those lads either.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

I heard the league has allocated Virginia 4 extra player points for this season on Monday night, to a total of 12 (I think).

Finishing position since 2009: 3, 2, 2, 2, 4, 4, 1, 2, 4

Nine years since the Rams missed the finals, played in a grand final five of those nine. Not exactly a charity case IMO.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

Callum Hay played for Salisbury North on the weekend.
Was it just a one off game?
Huge loss for Virginia so close to the season if he is cleared to Salisbury North for good.
Rumour was he was still keen to get back there to play for his old junior club.

Virginia was an alternative while the SAAFL deliberated on his life ban last season, which based on the video evidence was ridiculous.

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

Big Nik reported again in the Rams pummeling by the Eagles today.

Interesting side note later in the game when Adrian Mark was unfortunately knocked out in a contest both teams went to respective huddles except one bloke who stayed by himself in his goal square at the opposite end of the ground. interestingly enough he was reported by an umpire on the sideline standing with all the Eagle supporters , both central umpires did not thing it was reportable?
What was the outcome The Falcon ?

2 Games one for striking one for a second report, league is a joke, we repeatedly see umpires officiating games that they played most of there football career for, geez some are even life members of these clubs, you can not tell me these umpires are not biased? It is just natural this will favour there decisions, Brendon's case should have been thrown out by the tribunal, report was written out wrong, the two field umpires did not thing it was reportable , one was 15mtrs away the other 30 mtrs away, but an umpire standing in a crowd of eagle supporters around 150mtrs away has reported him, and was pretty excited about at it, as he told all the people around him that he had reported him, exact words heard by a certain passer bye, were "Ive got him , ". League is a bloody joke..
There is an issue with umpire numbers so you will see this happening from time to time.
Mind you, you see the same situation with goal umpires every single week too.
So, I think you're just going to have to get used to it happening.

And just playing devil's advocate here; the HWE player in question was taken from the ground with a significant cut or gash to his head requiring stitches from what was late contact out of the contest. So it's not like nothing happened either.

I didn't see the incident, I don't know how late it was, or how forceful it was, but there was contact to the head, suggesting medium to high impact.

I understand your frustrations and perceived bias claims but as a neutral, there is evidence suggesting there was basis for a report.

Meanwhile, I must apologise to Mallala, I’ve always thought they must pay their players too much, but when they are forced to bring their own beers to footy in order to survive I really feel bad now, perhaps we should organise a fundraiser?

Maybe you should be paying your guys more, when you played at long plains none of your blokes could afford to come into our clubrooms and pay for just 1 beer let alone a couple!
What is this "beer" you guys speak of?

You guys being ultra serious and going on a booze ban?

Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

B grade is a bit mysterious, not sure what to make of the top four sides.
I do think Mallala is fully loaded again, Virginia and United both have experience and quality, while Two Wells is perhaps making up the numbers there.
Under 17s is probably between Two Wells and Angle Vale. Think the Owls will get up at full strength.
Junior Colts, Two Wells, Virginia and Angle Vale could raffle it.

Re: Stanley Cricket Association

40 over games, 1-6pm

God's gift to cricketers. Don't know why every comp doesn't do this. Long enough for the jets to make a ton. Plenty of overs to go round for the bowlers. And obviously being one dayers you bat every week so if you have a good day and batters 5, 6, 7... don't get a hit and aren't bowlers then they can bat top 3 next week.
They're already 40-over games starting at 1pm
Ah ok. Poster on the previous page said they were 45 overs.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Murray Bridge
R1) Had a good look at 9 Resista and think EW odds certainly appeals.
R2) 6 Quaffany comes out of the McEvoy stable as a beaten short priced fave at Balaklava Cup day. Really short race here, wary of taking the shorts but looks the quality selection here. No bet for me.
R3) No bet
R4) 5 Karaoke Express has shown good form out of the Balaklava Cup Day meet, placing in each race and has built fitness to challenge here. $5-$6 is good shopping. Value runner is 9 Midsomer Barnaby, which is the only horse in Deane Pannell's stable. The distance suits and I've won more than lost backing this brave fella EW at odds.
R5) 1 Love Club, 2 Swipe Me Right and 3 A Little Chunky look the main hopes but I'm a fan of 6 Aspalis after landing her at 30/1 in August. Should be hitting the line hard late.
R6) 1 Eclair Choice looks a good prospect from the Phillip Stokes stable at $3.
R7) 3 Domination won in dominant fashion for McEvoy on Balak Cup day but like many winners from that meet, has struggled to recapture the form. Goes in favourite, which needs to be respected, but I don't mind 5 Vivaldi's Quest and 8 Quiddick to give it a run for its money.
R8 MB CUP) Again, got my Balak Cup hat on here and 1 Temps Voleur should run top 4, 2 Silvera a 3 Modulate will be right up there, respect 6 Special Diva and 7 Excites Zelady as chances, 11 Vinland is a strong chance to win if the track remains a Good 4 and doesn't firm up further, while 13 Awake In Grinzing can add some value if it doesn't miss the kick from barrier 2.
R9) 1 Wanted By All and 14 Hikaya look a little better than 9 Iron Max.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

My tips for Mooney Valley tomorrow on Manikato night:

MR1: 9 Grandview Avenue. Market has Sacred Sword at $7 and Grandview Avenue beat SS last start with an eye catcher, so $26 is good EW value.
MR2: Like 8 Pierrocity just for the name but another at odds here is Unbeknown, flew home at Warrnambool last start, similar setup to MV and $16 looks appealing.
MR3: 1,2,3,4 & 7 my numbers, I've followed 3 Iconoclasm this spring, looks a good shot here with 2 Kiwia EW value.
MR4: 11 Noumea was beaten a length 3rd last start but hit the line well late and has competed well in similar company previously. EW value @ $21
MR5: 9 Written Choice is a class runner, will be in the finish at at $5, that's not bad shopping.
MR6: 3 Ulmann was one I followed last spring, plenty of ability and Damian Lane will get the best out of it at $9.50
MR7: 1, 4, 10, 12, 14 are my numbers, with 10 Houtzen and 14 Sunlight my main chances, while Voodoo Lad has to break through at some point. Spright impressive in the Moir a few weeks back, as was Brave Smash.
MR8: 11 Black Sail travelled three wide the trip last start and won, which it may need to do at MV, ala Viddora. Lane will boot it home at $5.50

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

I had a bit of a glance at Bendigo and Naracoorte for Wednesday. Got a bit lazy after a few looks so the detail will drop off quickly haha.

BENDIGO
R1) I like 6 The Running Man, 9 Dench as top winning hopes, while 3 Obella looks a good each way show at $41. 7 Winning Partner will go in fave but has been tardy out of the blocks early in past two starts, not ideal when back in trip over 1100m. 3, 6, 7, 9
R2) 5 Jawwaal was impressive when second at Morphettville, also didn't mind 9 Suburbia's most recent run and 1 Laika Boom with Linda Meech on board is not out of this at $41 either. 1, 5, 9
R3) 2 Mr Genoa in a small field, Lane on board, very impressive win in Perth and should find this comfortable enough. Even money.
R4) 6 Dennis stands out to me. No other reason other than the cracking name. Placed in every start from its last 5, Weir trains, Yendall rides, $8.50 is a decent each way prospect.
R5) Initially had myself marking in 2 As It Lies ($5) as my top hope but scrolling down, 8 Ultra Smart carries in some decent recent form second up, perhaps a softer option at about $3. 2, 8
R6) Really impressed by 6 Won Ball's recent win, along with 3 Matty but both up in grade, makes things interesting. Toss of the coin there. 5 Wall Street Wolf appears the best value outside of the faves at $23 on the back of a solid second up record. 3, 5, 6
R7) Settled with 4 Woulda Thought So at $4 here. Cory Parish has the ride again, same class, up 2kgs but back in distance 100m, think he will be too good. 1 Tycoon Dancer ($17) has ability, forgive run in Adelaide last start and has form at the class. Each way option. 1, 4
R8) Felt 1 Patrick Erin was stiff not to get a run at Caulfield a few weeks back, weight a query but form is solid. Backed 3 Lord Fandango last spring and followed it up again this year for some reason. Showed enough in Caulfield to keep me coming back. 15 Sasko will set the pace, can it hold on for McEvoy and steal the Bendigo Cup? Worth a throw at the stumps each way. 1, 3, 15
R9) 3 Tan Tat Trusting has shown enough, think 5 Benny Goes Berserk is balls deep in this at $6.50, while 10 Eshtiraak commands respect as favourite. 3, 5, 10
R10) Didn't really look closely at this race at all but FWIW, 8 Savaheat just grabbed me. Won this track, distance and class first up in March, before going absolutely shizenhousen. First up here and $14 is appealing each way to end the day. 8

NARACOORTE

Did the form before the market had prices up. Not a bad way of doing it.

R1) 5 Eudora just wins this, surely. $2.65 seems generous. 5
R2) 2 Bodidley has a cracking name, had it marked favourite so happy to see $5 about it. 2
R3) Been stung by 1 Exalted Lauretta so often since Balaklava Cup day win, it is fave here but maybe it's not as good as we all think? Had 3 Euro Gold a lot shorter than $14, while 5 Bel Moshe at $6 is also more appealing than taking the evens round the top weight. 1, 3, 5
R4) I have 4 Akerboy, 8 Pellina and 9 Pandeia shortlisted for some reason. Meh. 4, 8, 9
R5) 6 Rohlon Drunk, great name, thought it was winning this, 12 Purely on Spec showed moderate ability in recent trial. 6, 12
R6) 3 Phar Link looks a very good prospect from the Searle stable, $3.50 isn't bad money. 4 Casino Magic's form suggests $7 is a good price. 3, 4
R7) 4 Duquessa should have enough class to win this, challenged by 6 Queen's Palace, and the bolter from Gawler Cup day, 1 Olympic Academy. Prefer to have my money on 4 or 6 though given the quick backup. 1, 4, 6
R8) Once again, I didn't study this race at all but I'm lobbing 9 See Me Rollin' in the ring at $8. 9

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Murray Bridge tomorrow (now today, started writing last night):

Not a track I've had much success at but to hell with history, right? Now here's my thoughts on the races based on history...

R1) 1 Olympic Academy carried huge weight last week to just go down when held up in the straight. Also won a race at big odds the week before but will jump close to even money and should have too much class for the field, despite giving away 7.5kg to the rest of the field. Others in the mix are 2 High Rolla, 6 Last One Named and 8 Henry The Dolphin, which has ability but was poor last week along with 4 Connemara Rose, which I can not entertain as a winning chance despite being third favourite at $4.40. 1 over 2,6 and 8

R2) Plenty of speed here from 8 Metro Tramp and 1 A Thousand Degrees. Little surprise they are both in the top two in betting with super trials, but McEvoy's runner and top weight, A Thousand Degrees, appears to have more ability and should win with 8 around the mark. Having said that, its one race start was terrible and raced keenly, which does cast doubt about its performance on track. 10 Picayune would be worth a look if it gets a start as it's only an EMG at this stage, I'm thinking it can run top four along with 3 Crown Fontein, which ran a 5L third this track and distance before a spell. 1 and 8 over 3 & 10.

R3) Tricky affair, with just the five runners but three vying for favouritism. I like 1 Borris in Ossory, form last race in Adelaide was solid behind Ruomaza, a much classier horse which went off to Melbourne. Loves this trip, local trainer and I don't mind young Logan on board, who gets a good weight claim here. Bonus is barrier 4 again. 2 Cannot Be Serious wasn't far away last start at Naracoorte despite being held up. Down in class, two wins from four at the mile. 3 Wanted By All was disappointing in its last two starts in similar company. One from one at track and distance but carrying 59.5kg. Kah on board is a plus but can't justify backing it at less than $6. 5 Big Boy Blev won in impressive fashion at Halidon over the same distance but the horses it defeated that day haven't gone on to do much at all this campaign. Could still run top three, local trainer a plus. Don't mind the roughie at all, 6 Honor The Moment. Seems to be improving and won 8.6L over the mile at Broken Hill last start. One to be wary of. Risking the 3, going with 1 over 2,5,6.

R4) Looks like a race of two classes. 4 Shows Promise was a good thing beaten last start and carries favouritism with Kah on board. Every reason to believe he will be in the finish here. 2 John The Rodent looks to be the early leader, vying for the front with 13 So Intelligent. Both got overrun last start, although 2 was over the mile, 13 over 1400m. 11 Crown Harmonium draws the car park again but has the class to go past a fair few of these, while 7 Meadows Lassie and 8 Notre Temps are other chances. 4 over 2,7,11 then 13 & 8.

R5) Aside from the two bottom weights, another tough affair to find a winner. 1 Classy Jack doesn't scream winner potential but has place claims. 2 Knotted has form over this distance and regularly threatens. Blinkers on today for Grant Young, barrier 7 not ideal. 3 Ogunde is back sharply in grade but the way it finished its last start over the 1000m hardly fills you with confidence. 4 Musical Query has good first up form, Jamie Kah riding probably deflates the price. 6 Willander Princess has a win at this class, track and distance, if we can get each way value, that's where I'll be heading. 5 Pellina tired late over the 1000m in this class but will be up front boxing on with them early. Thinking 4, 2 & 6 as value, 1,3 & 5 to fill the top 4.

R6) I'm actually pretty enthused about the two top weights here, 1 Autmed and 2 Cool Fonzy. Is it just me or does Todd Pannell seem to be riding very well without the plaudits of his female colleagues? He's on the 2 here, which has a win and three placings from four second up starts, and three placings from four starts this track and distance. Wanting closer to $6 though, opened about $3.80. Barrier 10 for 1 doesn't help but a weight claim and staying pedigree if made to work does. Still want about $10. Tipped 3 Euro Gold at $18 two starts back and this is its distance but step up in class casts doubt. 7 Lizzie Louise won its maiden here but struggled in this class. Not blown away by 5 Just Live On and 6 Texas Miller. Again, Kah on 6 deflates the price, but Shane Cahill on 5 means it should get every chance and recent form holds up. 5, 2 & 1 if we get the price. 3 and 6 other maybes.

R7) I'm keeping a close eye on 13 Bonify, which beat home Kumo in a BM45 at Broken Hill last start. Kumo then went to Hamilton yesterday and a solid 4th at huge odds in a BM58 over the same distance. Blinkers on, barrier 2, think it's worth a tinkle each way for sure. I'm again looking at Pannell's ride 9 In The Fast Lane as my main winning hope, 3 Art Music has good second up form, 4 Exalted Dee carries winning form in but wide barrier will test, 5 Majestic Ridge has each way claims, while 10 Sand Cat has enjoyed some success this campaign. 9 to win, 13 each way, then 3,4,5 and 10

Good luck!

Not a bad day overall. Kicking myself as it could have been better.

Results in bold below plus any relevant dividends (will use UBET divs).

I've marked winners I included in my numbers but did not back as no return, but included the exotic dividends if I had the numbers within my selections for the race.

Murray Bridge tomorrow (now today, started writing last night):

1 wins @ $2.20.

Late mail 4 wins @ $13.40 (posted below after initial write up)

F4 of 4,6,3,1 paid $438

6 wins @ $4.50 (no return)
1 third @ $2.50
Tri of 6,2,1 paid $80.50
F4 of 6,2,1,5 paid $289

3 wins @ $11.30 (no return)
Tri of 3,10,9 paid $344
F4 of 3,10,9,4 paid $1967

Hope these numbers helped others fill up. I give myself $20 to just place interest bets but it doesn't really allow for boxed exotics etc. Sad really, could have cleaned up! Ah well, bit of fun for the day.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Libran was absolutely mauled at the top of the straight last start too but battled on well. Think there’s improvement there

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

More text to dig through. Heading to Vigneron's Day on Sunday. Went through the acceptances before markets were up. See how close I am to the market. Haha. Could be miles off. Again, purely for interest.

Strathalbyn Sunday!
No prices up yet, so flying blind to some degree with only form to follow.

R1) My top selection would be 9 Stalagmite, which has improved its fitness and showed it can stay the trip last start. Gatt retains the ride so he should know what its capable of and give it every possible. Hoping for each way odds of about $6. Next selections would be 5 Go Straightandhard with Jamie Kah in the saddle. Boxed on gamely and held ground last start, back in grade. 3 Berkshire Babe showed good staying potential, doing its best work late in a BM60 at Penola over 1700m having been wide for the trip. 2 Rex Goliath closed late to score at big odds over 1500m last start. Different jockey in the saddle, extra 500m the test, but was held up for a long portion of that race so I think it had more in the tank.

9, 5, 3, 2 my top four, 6, 7 & 8 outsiders and really can't see 1 or 4 figuring in the finish on recent form.

R2) Interesting maiden affair. Lots of speed from the inside barriers with 9 Pam's Journey and 8 Leggero drawing 1 & 2. This is vital from the 1100m start as you basically lob straight onto the lengthy bend before you're into the home straight. Pam's Journey will benefit from a weight claim with Gary Lo on board. Think it's got a bit more ability than Leggero, which led last start over 1200m and was swamped in the final 200m at Morphettville in a tougher race. Did the same this track and trip before that run. Will be right in the finish again but extra weight a concern. These two will fight out most of the race up front, while 4 Panzer Princess has shown great consistency without making a breakthrough. Maybe fading after a distant third last start. Same goes for 1 All Things Nice, a long way off in second last start but showed good early speed. 5 Picayune was disappointing Wednesday and on the short turn around, can't see it figuring for first, while 6 Issara wasn't terrible when third in a trial up against short fave A Thousand Degrees, beaten on Wednesday but would have won at 1000m+.

9 & 8, then 1, 4, 6, then 5, while hard to comment on 2 and 3, one a first starter with no public trial form, the other hasn't been sighted for more than a year. Check the early market.

R3) Going to the inside barriers again from the 1200m start, with 5 Tailgunner coming from Barrier 2. Finished close up to A Thousand Degrees in the recent trial, which ran well enough at Murray Bridge on Wednesday to think it's destined for better things. Forgive the recent run of 11 Sizzling Affair, it has plenty of ability and Jamie Kah on board looks promising. 12 Take It Up a Gia comes from Barrier 1 and could run a race at each way odds if it doesn't blow the start. 8 Airmail has the speed from 10 to cross and lead early and is fit enough to hold on to a place, along with 4 Kyd Rock. Look for 10 Purely On Spec to close late, while 1 Gourmelin produced a close up fourth from a wide barrier in its first start on this track and trip, capable of doing that again after a four-week freshen up. 2 Heroes Quest is bothering me a bit. Hard to have but Jeff Maund is capable of causing an upset.

5, 11 over 4, 8, 10 and 12, then 1 or 2 if you're feeling lucky.

R4) On recent form, you should get genuine, honest efforts out of 11 Down Under Prince and 12 Jarrvis. Look for decent odds around those two, closer to the $10 mark is reasonable value. 8 Finniss Moment can figure for the minors along with 1 Grand Armada, which does enough work early but can't close the deal of late. The improvement of 6 Claiborne King is credible and Maund will give it a chance. Also had 2 Big Boy Blev as a chance on Wednesday before he was scratched, so logic says this should be easier and he must be included.

2, 11, 12, then 1, 8 and 6.

R5) 7 No Joy should be a class above here after good trial form. Also leaning towards 1 Bubblewrap and 2 Fulton Street as leaders in the market. 4 Fort Necessity could grab a place, while 5 The Trooper and 6 Artistic Focus could back up their maiden wins in this tougher event. I've always made time for 10 Artistic Escape and watch 9 Vein Choice closely. Interstate raider which can play up but if it behaves, it has the ability here.

7 over 1 and 2, then 5, 6 and 10, maybe 4.

R6) Hard to look anywhere other than 3 Tsaritsyn. Been on a spell for more than a year but you've got to think Jolly has it right ahead of resuming following a good trial on November 9. Others to figure include 2 Oamaru Owl, which beat 7 Snowbrook last start over 1200m, although if Snowbrook is within striking distance, the extra 150m will be in its favour. I also don't mind 9 See Me Rollin as a chance, been very consistent this campaign, and respect 1 Little Akie's record here, although recent form suggests it's not going so well.

3 and 9, then 2 and 7, 1 as a rough chance.

R7) Think 1 Tambang Bessie had more to give after breaking its maiden over the 1100m last start. Another 250m might be the big query. 3 Exacting should be in the finish if it doesn't do too much wrong. 4 Getouttheway has shown ability and you can forgive its last start. 5 Big Call closed well to the line last start over 1200m and you'd think 1350m suits. 8 Hilumiere finished well at Morphettville last start, working home for third after circling the field. 10 Regal Eagle wasn't far away from Tambang Bessie and with racing room, could challenge, while two runners give me rough tingles, 12 Swift Jet and 7 Sylvan Crest, having its first run for a new stable.

5 and 3 over 1, 4, 8 and 10. 7 & 12 rough chances

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Clare Sunday

We've got a delightful card of seven races for what looms to be a great day with good spring weather this weekend. Shouldn't get much more rain, expect the track to be a Good 4 by Sunday but we're operating with a Soft 5 at the moment. Clare doesn't have a long straight, about 200m, so we're looking for horses with early speed who can then box on.

R1) As is customary, we kick things off with a maiden, over 1100m. Always Guilty (1) is a first starter for the tiny Craig Curtis stable. Looking for an inside word with that one. Austin Raider (2) has form in races where others have gone on to win or perform well, including Texas Miller and Stalagmite. Back in distance and up in weight, thinking it's not drawn well enough to win. Faith In Grace (3) battled to the line for fourth over this trip after working wide last start when a favourite at Penola. Gets a good barrier draw and will show speed from the inside. Up in weight but Toeroek on board is a bonus. Good Nic (4) finished close up behind Tailgunner in a trial, which knocked off a short favourite at Strath on Sunday (as tipped by me at $15). The stable has smashed it with gear changes. Copped some interference last start, better barrier, it's in the finish for mine. Warraside Fairy (5) and Helpeny (6) will be rank outsiders. No thanks. Just Kauto (7) has a second in a trial behind the brilliant No Joy, which won well at Strath on Sunday over 1200m. Hoping this means the bookies overrate it, as it was fading to the line under the whip over the 1000m, so it doesn't need more ground here in my mind. Kissable Eight (8) and Martinique (9) have the two widest barriers. I like both of these two be right there in the finish. Kissable Eight needs a decent cart into the race from the wide barrier, while Martinique will work home from anywhere.

3, 9, 4, 8 and 2.

R2) A distance maiden over the 1800m. Business Class (1) closed ok from a wide barrier last start, so the extra 200m suits, same weight. Fit enough to win. Busker's Ballad (2) stayed on well over 1400m. Should lob on the rails again, so a similar run but lacks a turn of foot. Fox By Zerprise (3), John's Last Song (4) and Philton (6) all have early speed but that's about it. Blue Balloons (7) stuck on well over 1700m when three wide. Has a better barrier draw and same weight. Lace The Lady (5) worked home with Business Class. Similar draw, did its best work late and could be finishing off. Notre Temps (8) didn't show me enough last week to think 1800m is a good thing. Resista (10) is back in grade, proven place getter in tougher affairs at 1600m+, gets good gate but lacks excuses from five gun rides this campaign. Becoming expensive to follow. Texas Lil (11) is drawn wide, hasn't shown much although back in grade.

10, 7, 1, 5 and 2.

R3) BM56 over 1800m. Didn't mind the run of Grand Armada (1) on Sunday from a wide gate, did a tonne of work. Huge engine, wide barrier again, can be in the place getters. Unscopeable (2) has been a bit unlucky this campaign but gets the inside barrier, will have the run of the race. Weight the query. Hidatsa (3) is on the short backup and up in grade after disappointing on Wednesday. Hoff's Off (4) was good at Penola over 1700m, will get the distance and probably track the leaders from gate eight. Tommy Gun (5) is in with a winning hope and back to his preferred distance range. Hurricanes (6) has had plenty of chances this campaign, not quite getting into the money. Drop back in class for Sweet Kaiser (7) but this still looks too hard. The run of Conquer The Moment (8) at Wycheproof over the 1800m was solid enough to consider it for the minors. No thanks for He's A Valley Boy (10) despite the name, or Golden Rule (11) despite drop in grade.

2, 4, 5, 1, and 8.

R4) Maiden over 1200m. Doug's Journey (1) drawn too wide to figure. Fever (2) has shown sporadic signs over this grade, off a long spell, outside hope. It's Mystic (3) will be looking for the front again from a wide gate, back in distance. Prince Monarch (4) has shown best form second up, on softer ground, so if we get a soft track, all those stars align somewhat. Scare Campaign (5) once again gets a good gate and worked home for third place a mile off the leader last start. Can be in the finish again here. Smoke (6) is an unsighted first starter for the Ryan Balfour stable. Wedgebrook (7) is an outside place hope, Equimoore (8) has been honest without getting into the places, unsuited by wide gate but should find this easier. Super (9) comes from a wide gate and will settle back, suits its racing pattern and back in class. Miss Ebony Rose (10) is better than its last start, should lob behind the leaders from a good gate and generally sticks on from there. Minor place hope. Hard to get enthused about One O'Clock Rock (11) and the trial form of Ipotane (12) is uninspiring. Sizzkye (12) again draws to the inside and is back in class. Didn't show enough on debut for mine. Difficult race.

3, 9, 6, 5 and 10.

Race 5) BM64 over 1100m. You have to respect the work rate of topweight Iconic (1), carries a huge weight, up in class but can be in the finish after a good win last start over this trip at Penola. Just A Bigger Dash (2) gets some weight relief with Kenny Lau on board. Back in class, should be thereabouts amongst this lot. Don’t think Geordie’s Second (3) is up to this off the short backup. My Lesson (4) doesn’t appeal strongly but Jason Holder will give it every chance. Good soft track record too. Has been pressing forward and fading lately. Vahana (5) will be pressing forward, has a good first up record although up in weight too. Can match it with this class. Distance the question mark. Anamesis (6) draws fairly, also right in this race given distance record and found trouble in two recent starts in town. Shark Mirage (7) is consistent enough to include in your numbers. Amative (8) often tries to lead but fades late in the run. Maybe outclassed again here but can hang on for top four finish. Pandeia (9) can also be in the finish if it can get near the front from a wide draw.

2, 5, 6, 1 and 7.

Race 6) BM80 over 1800m. Sizzling Bullet (1) is a class runner and forgive the last start, following a good second in the Gawler Cup. Sting out of the ground suits. Weight a query. Excites Zelady (2) is also likely to be in the finish. Really liking the consistency from Aagas (3). Distance and track conditions suit. With Oh So Unfair (4) on its inside, these two will be ones to watch. Chu Chu Charlie (5) will see out the distance. Been racing well at regionals without the wins. Exalted Honey (6) may find this too difficult but weight relief from Sophie Logan is a plus. Springfield Lew (7) will look to lead, stays ok and fitter for two recent runs. Big Boy Blev (8) finished off the mile ok at Strath, gets some weight relief but this is a step up. Svetlana’s Arrow (9) not going well enough this campaign.

4, 1, 3, 2 and 7.

Race 7) BM54 over 1200m. Bwuva (1) should be scratched, not enthused by the form of King Red (7), while Shall We Hope (3) has drawn the car park, makes it hard to win from there. Not fully convinced Coco Gabrielle (4) can figure from gate 11. Hurricane Sonny (5) has a good barrier draw and motored home last start. Same class, should be a big improver. In The Fast Lane (6) also takes form from that race as a narrowly beaten favourite. Wide draw will make it tough. Archway To Heaven (7) also has to overcome this issue and will be looking for the front. Let’s Tango (8) has good form this track and distance, winning over the trip from gate 9 earlier this year. Hasn’t missed the places from three starts here either. Up and down lately. Lonberg (9) steps up in grade but drawn well and has been honest when given a fair go. If it finds the front, it sticks on. Gold Maestro (10) hasn’t got a great first up record and will need this run before finding its best. Social Lane (11) tends to prefer firm ground. Kapinette (14), Dapper After Dark (15) and Righteous Ruler (16) don’t appeal.

5, 6, 9, 8 and 7.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

After the disaster that was Clare, I've picked myself of the canvas and had another crack. Good luck all.

Gawler

R1) 1100m Maiden - Looks like a number of these will be vying for the early lead.

1) Chucky - Will probably get back in the run but needed the extra 100m last start in town. Look for it swooping late.
6) Sir Johnson - Has the barrier to get the run of the race, impressive trial v Yucatan coming into this.
9) Now And Forever - Good trial when everything went its way. Respect.
7) Surreal Image - Honest so far but not convinced it will hold the others out first up.

Roughies: 5) Oliver's Tale is worth an each way ticket after sticking on 3 wide to win in a recent trial, clocking a solid time. 10) Pam's Journey - Should be on the pace and I respect its efforts so far.

R2) 1700m BM60 - Agonising a bit here as some quality horses have been putting in average efforts of late.

2) Autmed - Finished a long way off the winner in third but came from a mile back. Should settle midfield and be flying late.
4) Set To Cruise - Beat Oh So Fair and Chapal two starts back, Chapal ($4.80) contesting a BM78 at Sundown today.
1) Good Idea - With a few mixing form, he was good enough without being great to think he'll be in the finish.
5) Unscopeable - Disgusting at Clare last start but that track was unkind to a lot of favourites on the day. Forgiving.

Roughies: 7) Hidatsa has Kah back on board, winning over this trip last time she was on. 8) Sweet Kaiser will carry the least weight and easily held out highly fancied Unscopeable at Clare last start.

R3) 2100m BM60 - Small field but some value in the field by the looks

4) Hurricanes - Finished all over them late at Clare, extra distance suits.
3) Bon Elise - Expensive to follow and with more weight, not sold on the short price.
5) Anyportinastorm - One of my favourite horses but all its wins have been first or second up.
6) Claiborne King - Like Jeffy Maund back on board and think it's a pretty honest battler.

R4) 1200m Maiden - Large field with a number of first starters

14) Miss Julienne - Finnegan came from last to grab a 3.3L fifth over 1100m last start, she knows this horse can close.
6) Smoke - Unsighted first starter from Balfour stable. Barrier 1, will be watching it keenly.
7) Knavesmire - Market has it favourite and I'm not sold on it but have to respect there's money for it.
13) Panzer Princess - Will be looking for the lead from a wide barrier but not sure it has the trip here.

Roughie: 10) Zapico - Held on well in a trial from wide barrier, closed ok, think it's got some ability and has a good draw to threaten here.

R5) 1200m C2 Handicap - Once again, will be hoping for runners to make late ground.

9) Zagato Star - Thought it was super impressive winning over 1100m after being the widest into the straight. Lau's 3kg claim comes into play.
4) Handsome Return - Import from New Zealand new to Clarken stable. Kah gets the ride, market has warmed to him. Best may be over further?
1) Tambang Besi - Fancied her before being scratched at the barriers at Strath. Weight a query.
3) Biancaptain - I'm not sold on this runner after it belted everything on debut and faltered second start. Back in class though.

Roughies: 5) Trooper's Ploy has some claims about it with decent form in the NT. 8) Free Hand - Broke its maiden here last start over the trip. Respect that form.

R6) 1100m BM60 - Some value to be had here with Oriental Gift $8. It was hideous in a lower class on Sunday.

7) Galcrum - Hard to ignore what it did here last time first up in a BM56, coming from last to score.
2) Grumpy Guru - Should be another closing late although seems to prefer longer distance.
5) Party Set - Will be out to lead and doesn't mind a battle in the straight.
12) Artistic Escape - Needs the breaks but very good placing between No Joy and Fulton Street, the latter winning comfortably at Murray Bridge on Sunday.

Roughie: 11) Shark Mirage - Love it for its consistency, gets a good barrier here and some weight relief. 6) Anamnesis - One of my main hopes at Clare last start. Forgiving the run, has been battling in better company of late

R7) 1500m BM64

6) Polar Vortex - Toeroek rode brilliantly to slot in and almost win last start from a wide gate, thinking he can repeat the dosage.
2) Redeem Bounty - Good win last start but wide barrier draw makes it hard to see it in front at the line.
13) Scouts Honour - Good track might be the query but an eye-catching second in a previous maiden puts it in the market.
10) Tarantino - Quality runner but beaten by Polar Vortex last start and would need to improve to challenge.

Roughie: 11) Sylvan Crest - I picked it as a rough hope at Strath where it lobbed second at $21 behind Regal Eagle and On Appro, Sneaky chance here

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Balaklava Wednesday - Good 4

Ahhhhh, back on the home deck and it looks a bloody picture. So it should after three months of no racing.

Recent McEvoy Mitchell stable trial here last Monday indicated even ground, so we might see some bloody backmarkers making some ground for once. Then again, we might not. I've been stung doing form for even tracks that end up favouring leaders, so that's a massive factor given how Balak played on Sep 12.

I've got a lot of the McEvoy runners on top. Like I said, they brought a fleet of runners over for trials seven days ago, so the camp knows where they'll want their horses to be in transit. I think that has to be an advantage.

R1) 2200m BM64 - Small field, so I'll comment on all runners.

3) Aali Mia - Made up excellent ground late when second up from a spell over the 2100m last week. A repeat performance in a smaller field will go close.
2) Connemara Rose - Going back previous preps, seems to put in a beauty 4th up, which it is here, so think it will reverse the recent form.
1) Barshonti - Can see it pressing forward and should run top 3 in this field.
4) Conquer The Moment - Think it has probably peaked looking at the way it faded last run after getting a box seat run.
5) Casiraghi - Harking back to April, it ran a close up 0.4L 3rd behind Connemara Rose over this track and trip. Has not looked like winning since and back in the Grant Young stable in recent weeks. Would be a huge turnaround to run top 3.

R2) 1000m Maiden - Another small field

4) Factual - First up after 26 weeks, wasn't far away when last first up in a metro maiden. Won a trial going into this. Barrier 5 maybe the only knock.
1) A Thousand Degrees - 900m not far enough, 1200m too far. This is its distance. Hoping it lobs third on the rail, on the speed.
5) Our Benevento - Another trial winner first up, with good previous maiden form, but at regional meets. Also does its best work late.
1) Regina Margherita - Probably gets shuffled three back on the rail, outside place hope from there.

Wary of 2) Almandram, 14 starts with no placings but first up after 49 weeks from the respected Balfour stable. Will watch it go around.

R3) 1200m Maiden

7) Far Afield - First starter for McEvoy stable but coasted in a recent trial win. Think this trip suits.
2) Cover Girl - Has been there or thereabouts this prep, honest from wide barriers but gets 1 this week. Each way hope.
6) Equichoi - Speed maps have it lobbing in the front few and has the best closing speed of the field. Only considering it because of J Maund.
9) Lomachenko - 1200m seems to be its go, expect it to lead but may be labouring late to keep a few of these out. If bias is present, will be hard to catch.

Not keen but interested to see how 5) Zucchini goes, showing good improvement to finish third in a trial behind Factual and Black Hat. Still 2L away but on the improve.

R4) 1200m BM56

2) Fortify - Been consistent this prep for the Balfour stable, Logan goes on board to claim 3kg off the big weight. Looking for $5 for it.
3) Ogunde - Drawn to find the front and down in grade, if the on-speed runners are winning, the 10-year-old may well be fighting out the finish.
4) Let's Tango - 50/50 for placing here at this distance. Don't rate the win at Clare last start but respect overall record.
1) Bwuva - Recent win was impressive but huge weight swing of 5.5kg probably makes things tough.

Giving 6) Hinchin Miss a sneaky chance first up with the 3kg weight claim of Lo.

R5) 1400m Maiden

1) Ethical Dilemma - Maps well here and longer straight, good barrier draw, should be in the finish.
2) Hidden Agenda - Putting faith in the McEvoy stable. Not sure it showed much in trials but Pannell takes the ride. Expecting improvement.
3) Smart Alick - Got within 3L of Left Hand Man and Kenyan Wonder a few starts back before drawing the car park. Draws better in an easier grade.
5) Super - Honest fourth last start, if we're getting $20+ it's worth a small EW ticket.

Watching 9) Kiss Me Charli, first starter from Stokes stable after two very average trials.

R6) 1400m Maiden - Yes, another one, and not completely sure how this will unfold.

2) Black Hat - First up after a spell, its two trials have been more than solid. Watch for form around Factual in R2.
5) Gourmelin - Change of jockey with Tourneur taking the ride. 3rd up now, fitter. Still not confident.
1) Brybek - Maybe it had more to give after turning last in recent 1200m run.
7) Indian Mo - Loves to lead and then fades more often than not. Got it here pending how the track plays. If leaders are winning, it's in with a show.

I really want to like 8 Out Of Kilter for the Lloyd Kennewell stable. Probably needs this run but one to watch.

R7) 1400m BM60

5) Light The Waves - Broke its maiden here earlier this year, two recent trials have been good against winning horses.
1) Polar Vortex - Loved its run last start with Toeroek doing his best from tough gate. Will be closer in a small field. More weight the query.
4) Triple Spec - Good overall record but first up run leaves some question marks.
7) Staghorn - Did ok to jag fourth from barrier 10 last start against some decent company.

Re: Betting Sites, Good or Bad

The Ladbrokes favourite v field market, if I place a bet on the field to beat the favourite but the favourite changes, does that revert to the field against the new fave?

For example, Balaklava tomorrow R1, it shows Conquer The Moment as favourite. When I go to place the bet, the favourite is written as Conquer the Moment in brackets. Now, I highly doubt Conquer The Moment will jump favourite and I’d imagine that will change. Can’t find T&C anywhere.

Yeah. Before the fixed markets were out, they were using the top totes to determine what was favourite. At that stage there was $14 in the Ubet pool and had Conquer The Moment favourite.

I've been giving 'Tips' at Balaklava today and you've picked neither of them
Don’t hold back.

My tips are based on form and speed maps. I think the best tips are more so insider knowledge.

Super and Cobbers Mate
Yeah, I didn't mind Super as an EW shot but it's favourite in the market. Up in trip, whereas A Thousand Degrees has gone back in trip. They came out of the same race. Would rather have some money on Smart Alick, which has been running Metro grade races against the likes of Kenyan Wonder, Behemoth and Left Hand Man (ayo). So there's some question marks there for me. Respect there's money for it.

I do love Ryan Balfour but I found Cobber's Mate hard to have after its very average trial on November 22 (10L 4th of 6), coming from Barrier 8 today. Call Me Crackers, which won that trial, won at Port Lincoln on Sunday.

You can analyse all you like though, always interesting to see how it unfolds today. Good luck.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

If there was an easy formula to pick winner I’d never work a day in my life!

It’s gambling for reason, no proven method of picking winners it’s all a matter of opinion and a shit load of luck.
Haha, I don't disagree. I just think I can make better decisions if I'm doing the right sort of homework.
You can go through life pissing cash against the wall, I've decided after 13 years of betting that I should be better at it than I am.

Surely you have to get a bit of a feel for this analysis thing after a while doing it? I don't feel like I'm far away.
I did the form before the prices come up, then the markets yesterday largely mirrored my own analysis, barring two runners I had as longer shots that jumped as faves or nearly faves, and then won.
If I'm getting the markets about right, that's when you find the value? Is that right?

Corporates refuse to let people punt with them because they win. Surely that's not because of luck?

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Another example of high numbered roughies getting up in the last at regionals, Coffs Harbour yesterday.

If you ever see Jason Whiting on something late in a regional meet in WA that is as rough as a poorly shaved clam , get on it.
I actually like Knuckey on the roughies.
Yeah, he's good value over there, I tend to have my couple of favourites in each state, Skye B in FNQ.

Pretty devo about Tye Angland ATM, I haven't heard much, I hope his condition has improved from first thoughts.
Yeah, that whole scenario is pretty confronting. Young family etc.

Well done!
I missed it.
Did it win easy??

Jockey went straight to the front not long after the jump, won by 3-4L I think.

I thought it would get run down because it did a lot of early work. Stuck on like a champion

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Some quick thoughts at Strath today:

R1 - (2) Biewen is jumping fave, speedy type which fought out a finish on debut with Leggero and Pam's Journey, both recent winners. Barrier 11 with some first starters underneath, not guaranteed to get across but if it does, it should win. One I don't mind at EW odds is (4) Minnamosa, first starter for little known local Jess Giles but comes across having fought out some classy Maidens interstate. Looked good in recent local trial.

R2 - (6) Bon Elise burned me last time out and it comes up against a similar field. Will see out the trip, thinking $5+ isn't a bad price but won't be taking less this time around. Vonsrana is coming into form approaching the race and will jump fave but I don't mind the track and distance form around (2) Fantastic Magic and (3) Gangster's Run.

R3 - (1) Fortify carries similar weight but if it doesn't blow the start, I think it wins this. (4) Shark Mirage always value at EW odds.

R4 - (5) Yucatan - yes, the other one - is highly fancied and the way it moved over the 1000m, think this distance suits. Poor (9) Meadow's Lassie has again drawn poorly but it has the ability to be there at the end, while good to see (6) Air Mail draw a favourable barrier, think it presents EW value.

R5 - (1) Fulton Street has a good record, I do have it on top but I give (3) Lostarc a good chance as well.

R6 - Tough race with a few I like. (7) Regal Eagle steps up in class but likes this track and trip. Balfour/Kah combination on (1) Canford is hard to ignore, while I'm giving (3) Picture Me Rolling a second chance and I love the way (4) Grumpy Guru finished over 1100m, presenting as EW value.

R7 - Finishing things off, I like (4) Hungry For Love at an EW quote, ( 8) Get In The Bowl, (3) Exalted Dee and (5) Sound The Trumpet can run a race at odds.

Good luck again!

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

At one stage there was some discussion that Cheltenham would have all 3 codes.
It would have been a good venue, as you were closer to the action than at Morphettville.
However none of the 3 racing codes would never agree with eachother on anything that would be beneficial.

Its not unfathomable to see 2026 roll around with no Racing industry at all, all 3 codes included.
They are pouring cash into Murray Bridge and Gawler.

MB even has a new greyhound track. But they’ve shut Strath. Not sure what the hell is going on.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

So, Bordertown twilights, hopefully I haven't done my dough by the time R1 rolls around. Maybe time to implement a staking plan...

Anyway - my thoughts below

R1) I'm respectful of 8 Regina Margherita's form. Starting favourite and drawn to suit from gate 2. Think it runs top 3 no worries and probably wins. 9 Bottle and Bird gives them something to chase but think there's enough fitness to chase it down. 4 Oliver's Tale looms as good each way value, while two horses with ability that have cost me money previously are 5 Sir Johnson and 6 Good Nic. Can't see Sir Johnson reversing its form but will watch Good Nic's fresh run after a disappointing recent prep.

8, 4, 9, 1 - Watching 5 & 6.

R2) Not looking too far outside the favourites here. Taking 7 Cover Girl on top having watched her finish up their backs at Balaklava, then stepping up to metro class on Boxing Day and chewing up late ground over 1200m, so thinking 1300m suits and much easier task here. 3 Notarbartolo brings in impressive form behind talented A Thousand Degrees and Scare Campaign but query of the extra 200m. 8 Scopen Success has been consistent and I like first starter 6 Mr Botterill, don't mind Luke Williams as a young jockey. 4 Canidae has been terrible but comes out of same good trial as Oliver's Tale, so watching it.

7, 8, 6, 3 & 11 - Watching 4

R3) 11 Sizzkye did catch the eye last start. Outside of it, not much appeals. Going to trust some trainers/jockeys here.

11, 3, 1, 4

R4) Difficult stayers race with several taking good form in. With that in mind, overthinking jockeys/trainers may mess with the speed, opening the door for a swooper. I didn't mind the efforts of 9 Lady Barron in city class last start against some good horses, Willochra, Pretty Glass, Tahnee Tiara...
For the better chances, 4 Centenary Shot looks my pick. Maund retains the ride and got the choccies last start.

4, 8, 2, 1 & 9 as a roughie.

R5) I was keen on 7 Strategic Spice but Christine Puls doesn't ride too many winners above $3 so perhaps a place bet is best here. 5 Jackthegiantslayer back from Flemington to Bordertown? Pls. I'll take the $3.20 on offer and see what happens. Don't mind 1,2,3,4 either and thinking 2 Art Music is the best of those.

5, 2, 3, 7 and 4.

Going to bed. Will hopefully be back for the last three tomorrow!

Didn't get back to these, apologies, but two on top selections home, plus a landed place bet, money back on the each way shot and the debutant booting home made it a solid afternoon. Til next time, shoppers...

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Quick look at the first few races at Strath:

R1) Think 8 Place Me Right and 10 Meadows Lassie are rightfully favourites but did not mind the run of 3 Malouf ($15) last start when beaten by a very smart one in Brybek recently. 4 Plympton also rattled home late in that race. I also like to see runners building up their distance so will be interested to see how they both go with an extra 200m. Stokes should have the 8 ready so picking it on top, 10 super consistent but back in distance, while 3 is a small EW hope for me, just over 4.

8, 10, 3, 4

R2) Really tough stayers race. Lots of good chances and 5 All Well for Grant Young presents some each way value at $7. Logan booted it home last time out here in a tough leader's performance and recent run at Hamilton suggests fitness won't be an issue, also dropping weight. 4 Dellacqua loves this track, so keep close.

5, 4, 6, 1

R3) Some first starters here with good trial times, including 3 Need The Yen and 5 Terbium, both short in the market. One at odds is 7 Electrum ($35). Led here last start before being overrun late by Strike In Style to go down 2.4L 5th. Back in distance 100m, shown to be competitive on debut with early speed, maybe it can hold on for a place.

5, 3, 8, 4

R4) Mentioned Malouf and Plympton earlier and another out of that race is 2 Heroes Quest ($26). Gets a better barrier, back marginally in distance, has to be a sneaky chance here, especially if either of the other two can frank their form in race 1. 8 Cover Girl was deadset unlucky last week, draws gate 1 but can mean it gets on the rail back in traffic. Lot of hype around 12 Small Scale after a good second on debut last week. Will be short enough with Kah on board. 9 Jack's Sister has found its distance here I think, while 8 Air Mail again draws a good barrier and will be a place chance at odds. 5 Ken's Thunder hits me with some intrigue, a first starter easily beaten in a 1000m trial by Need The Yen but out to 1350m here, perhaps it needs the run. Wary of the stable and jockey.

12, 9, 7, 8 and hail mary with 2 & 5 as value in exotics.

Only done half a job again!

Ha! Cobber’s Mate salutes for Carey in R1

Watched it run last week and it didn’t really raise a yelp after a good effort at Balaklava before that.

Peaking I didn’t keep the faith :(

Re: Things that you rate!

Staying at the Brighton caravan park.

Oh and the 2 Snittys and a jug for $40 at the seacliff (wasn’t West End tho :( )

Should be in the things I dont understand thread, but I dont understand people that live in Adelaide going to a caravan park int he same city for a holiday

Heaps of people do it, my parents are classic offenders, live at Glenelg and go to Kingston Park caravan park for a week!

I use to think along the exact same lines mate when my in laws would come down from the country and stay for 2 weeks every year until we started joining them. The kids absolutely love it, the Mrs and I can still commute to and from work from Brighton and when its all said and done once the van is set and you're living the caravan lifestyle that Caravan park could be on the Gold Coast, NSW or WA.

Kingston park at Brighton is a lovely place that's for sure.
Yep, I'm yet to subscribe to this madness but with a young family now, I can totally get that just being away from the house and near the coast, whether it's 45 minutes of 5 hours away, is an escape.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

SR 4 # 3
$18 into $6.50 since last night
OnSong's bet of the day

Cheers, wins with a leg in the air.
Brad Davidson is on fire. Tipped this as his best, plus had a winner at $11 and I nailed a good slice of the F4 in R2 thanks to his tips.

I'm sure a few on here have been following him. Saturday was fantastic, followed up yesterday. Bloke is in a purple patch.
