Re: Adelaide Plains Football League

I see reading the Producer tonight, Angle Vale FC admission gaining some pace for season 2016
God i hope not
Why not?????
Without trying to be exclusive, I'd be against Angle Vale joining the APFL just on the grounds of it being a COUNTRY football league.
I have nothing against the Angle Vale Football Club but if the APFL goes down that path, it may just end up as a northern based metropolitan league.
I have no idea what other paths the APFL can go down to introduce other clubs that are not a part (or basically a part) of metropolitan Adelaide, which is exactly why I'm not a member of the board but I hope our status and atmosphere as a country footy league is maintained for the future of our country towns.
Whats the difference between Virginia and Angle Vale?

Re: Old Adelaide

Adelaide City Baths.jpg
Boys leaping from diving boards at the Adelaide City Baths swimming pool in January 1956.
What, no life guards saying one at a time.
Was this sit abandoned because they built the aquatic centre in North Adelaide or was it because they wanted the site for the festival centre.
I would have done that jump a few times about then.
My first formal swimming lessons occurred there in a primary school group in about 1954.

IIRC correctly the place was getting a bit run down and in need of a lot of maintenance and it was decided to build the new pool instead, but alternative uses for the old site were possibly already in mind. I never did go to the new pool.

One of my memories of the old pool was meeting a well known 20-something stripper/dancer there when I was about 16, and applying her sun tan lotion.
Did ya give her one?

Re: 2015 All Australian Squad

The AA team has no meaning anymore. Not when the people voting on it are either suits from head office or Melbourne media with a couple of token non-victorians. Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Mark Evans, Danny Frawley, Glen Jakovich, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson and Tredrea.
Darcy, Frawley, Ling and Richardson only ever cover the big Friday or Saturday night games, and are too busy trying to make each other laugh than actually watch footy.

Re: 2016 gradings

Word on the street is Edwardstown have indicated an intent to request affiliation with the SAAFL.

If they come in to Division 3 or 4 it would mean Hectorville and Adelaide Lutheran would be relegated as against dodging a bullet given they finished 9th in their respective competitions.

I get the argument for Heccies and Lutherans but I reckon the league needs to beef up competition around the Division 3 and 4 division.
Hectorville have been informed they will be in Div 5 next year. Pretty sure they took it how you would expect them too...

Nuh uh....

They're not going to tell a club they're being demoted without having another team to fill in the gap above.

So far, the clubs haven't voted any new (or old ) clubs into the league so that decision can't be made.

James Toohey (retired)

Steve Johnson (delisted)

James Kelly (delisted)

I looked at the Woody for an upcoming function I'm hosting. They wanted some $300 for a "private room". When I asked where the aforementioned "private room" was ( knowing the Woody, I couldn't think of a room anywhere ) the young lady stated "Oh, we rope of a portion of the newly renovated glass bar for you".

"That's not private though?" - "Yeah, it is". Anyway, I'm having it somewhere else. Not to mention $2.50 "cakeage" per person! Yes, $2.50 PER PERSON for them to cut and serve a cake....

Agreed. Take it for what it's worth.

9/10 at a pub means it's a top quality pub feed. 9/10 at Chianti isn't the same 9/10 as at the Cove.
Fair enough. So Benny's 10/10 is top notch american style crap.
I went to Benny's with a few mates for a before going bowling Friday night two weeks ago. Their food was terrible, I shared wings with one of my mates while the other two had the chili cheese fries. 3/10

Re: CH9AFL DIvision 4 2016

so if towns playing in the SFL would be = Div 2/3 SAAFL and are put in 4 are they being given an assimilation period to successfully re-establish themselves in a perceived easier division rather than higher where they should be, not forgetting they pulled out of the SAAFL causing the whole 9 team in balance previously, so should they be granted any favours?
Maybe it was where a gap was that could be filled with an easy fix.

I think they are lucky to be in Div 4. When we came back from SAFA they put us in Div 6, which was a fair bit below the level we should have been. On the flip side we did go up 4 divisions in the next 4 years, picking up a few flags along the way.

I would think Townies will be in Div 3 in 2017.

hence the question are they getting an easy run & potential flag in div 4, to the detrement of other div 4 sides, when they should go into 3 or 2 and for what it's worth I also think they will be in Div 3 in 2017

All seems to be very quiet around here on the ins and outs....

Kenilworth recruiting very well with the addition of Ellijah Ware and also a CHF from South Adelaide reserves.
Heard Westminster have a number of new players and returning players from overseas. North Haven chasing some big names and have retained their whole 2015 squad, even lipson may pull on the boots.

Lynch and Buss 2 massive outs for Para Hills, still expect them to sign some quality in the coming weeks.

Completely quiet from Pooraka, EP and Hope Valley.
