Re: AFL Round 4

Do Crow fans reckon he's overtaken Modra yet for most exciting Crow?

No.
Agree, I've lived here all my life & Betts isn't at that sustained excitement level yet.
Modra, he was off the charts.

It's not even close really, I love Betts one of the shrewder pick ups the Crows have made love him but Mods was in that Gary Ablett category when the footy was coming down there you got on the edge of your seat because you knew he was a chance to take mark of the year or kick goal of the year.

N0N7SsV0f-U
Knew how to find the goals...and as good as betts is, is better.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

You call them out in front of everyone. I have been in charge of subs collection in the past and would list the players who owed $$ post game or during preso's etc. I don't reckon I called the same name more than 2 weeks in a row.
That's what i want to do! Name and shame! Apparently though you cant
I put a list up of fully paid, part paid and nil paid. It at least gets some players asking why someone else hasnt paid. I might cut off access to trainers room next.

Just a general comment on the FTA coverage of the major meets on Seven. I honestly find Bruce McAvaney much more bearable, pleasant even, hosting the races than commentating the footy. Weird. Seems to be much more relaxed at the gallops. Well he doesnt say stupid things like "Oooh, Winx delicious"

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Not so much a restaurant but Korked Wine Bar in the Port.

Becoming a fairly regular visitor there, sunny Sundays they typically have some live music on that could range from 90's covers to some smooth Jazz.

Mrs Boon enjoys a few of the wines they have on offer, Pale stubs are $7 and the delicious Goodiesons Golden IPA is $9, little steep but it's a cool little place with a good atmosphere for a few lazy Sunday afternoon drinks.

They also do the best Hungarian garlic bread you have ever eaten. Ever.
Yes, it is popular, I'm yet to go there. I've been invited the last couple of Sat nights but they don't realise how much a Sat arvo at the pub on the punt takes it out of me...

There is also Charcoal Grill on the Hill in Kew, I used to live around the corner so was a bit of a regular go to place for me.

11 minutes to the hour and 21 past the hour from Old Albert Township. Set your watch to it.

Last one of the day/night comes by at 1:12am city bound. First one rattles by at 5:20am heading for the Harbour Out.
First train for Outer Harbour leaves the city at 4:34am each morning, sheesh.

The Gawler bound line doesn't start until 6:03.

What industry would that be in aid of? Obviously there's the ASC and the petrol terminals, much else? So we can get home and shower before work

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 6 - 2018

From RFC facebook
Members, I'd like address some of the rumours eventuating from yesterdays game and to put everyone’s mind at ease. Most of you may know we had a player reported yesterday. For a start the report from the umpire reads a pretty low ranked offence. Yes we are subject to an Amended Affiliation Agreement with the league but any penalties as an extension of that are loss of premiership points – that’s it. There seems to be some who are attempting to unsettle our players and members by suggesting we may be getting suspended from the competition. We WILL be playing next Saturday and while we will accept any penalty from the league, we need to simply use this as a reminder that we need to be above reproach on AND off the field.

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 6 - 2018

League is gonna create a new division - the "pre-release prison division".. all clubs booted or on AAA will be placed in this division to play each other and if they can prove they can change their ways and display good behaviour, will be integrated back into main stream football society. 8)

No salary cap allowed in this division.

Just have a Salisbury division.

With the amount of reports your mob have had this year maybe you could join them?

Re: Adelaide Footy League Division 5 - 2019

Based on this year, assuming they retain their players, you'd have to think Kenilworth enter 2019 as favourites with Lockleys & Pulteney in the mix.

Blackfriars would be mid table, but losing Brincat is a massive blow, may see them slide, and I think Smithfield will drop away. Hope Valley the other lower end side last year, would need to retain their group and recruit a couple - rely heavily on too few IMO.

If Eastern Park are losing as many as is reported, they may follow the same path as Smithfield last year, and finish outside the 5, but avoid relegation.

Rosewater & Trinity coming up will be interesting, both seem well equipped and would be competitive.

Don't know enough about Salisbury to comment.
Since when has that ever stopped you? ;)

Re: Trade + Draft Period 2018

The AFL sign off on all the trades as being fair and equitable.

Scully, former #1 pick, 26 years old, 152 games, he can't be traded for pick 53 to Hawthorn, surely?

How can the AFL sign that off as legit?
Ankle possibly stuffed, could miss a fair chunk of next year.
Salary dump also helps.
It’s really no ones business what the Giants want to trade him for. He has helped them with his last contract so they might want to facilitate the move for personal reasons
Do the Hawks have to give his old man a job too?

It's funny because Port Magpies (not to be confused with unrelated club, Port Power) wore pink guernseys originally.
1870
First games played in Adelaide against the Young Australians Football Club wearing blue and white uniforms.

1877
Port Adelaide adopts a rose pink jacket for its new uniform and is a foundation club of the SAFA along with South Adelaide, Gawler, Kensington, Adelaide, Prince Alfred etc

People who live near an airport then proceed to whinge about the noise from planes.
Seriously!!

Yep, ******* idiots.

99% of these morons moved in after the airports (Adelaide, Parafield etc.) were built, so they'd know what to expect. Unlike a lot of cities, we've got flight curfews too.

They're as bad as folks who move in adjacent to sporting clubs and complain about the noise and traffic .

these are the worst
We got one across from us who moved in and then went to court and got an injunction prohibiting the council or anyone else from spraying the oval and surrounds with any chemicals. ****! And his boyfriend walks the dogs on the oval and doesn't pick up their shit.

Re: AFL Round 3 - #putyourcoxout

Geelong ran the game out much better.
The other thing I noticed about the Cats is they’re a bloody big side not only in height but solid-wise. They don’t get knocked off the ball often.
I've always thought that Geelong have had an advanced weight program, seeing Travis bulk up quickly as a young lad and then even though he was soft as a boob, Paul Chapman was very solid as were most of the players, even dating back further with Bews, Bairstow and co.
Its the hoops that make geelong players look bigger - thats why I dont where them
