Re: First Ashes Test Team predictions

Jordan silk scores another ton for tassie. If things don't go to plan in the upcoming series surely a young batsman in form will be given
A chance. 6 shield games for 3 hundreds is a pretty handy record at this stage of his career

Re: NORTH EASTERN F/L

blyth to good for us yesterday. we started well but blyth were too good in the last 3 qtrs. disappointing to lose but they were better on the day. minman defeated south comfortably today at brinkworth.

next week is us vs minman in both A and B grade. with our 17 and 14s also playing.

Re: Purchasing bats

cheers bull and days. looking at a few tomorrow. hopefully find a stick to suit my number 9-11 batting position. Thats the one advantage of not being able to bat, it takes years to wear out bats.

Re: Barossa & Light Cricket 2014/15.

whether he made 7, 70 or 700, the fact that he turned out for his 'community club' should be applauded!
I know the GV boys were raring to go once they heard the news. One would have thought the young lads from South would have loved playing with their mate and his inclusion may have have helped spike the bar takings for the day, throw on top some unsolicited press coverage of the league... everyone is winning (in particularly GV!, just sneak into the 4 boys thats all you need to do ;) )[/quote]

I completely agree. Good on him for playing back where it all started for him. He obviously still has good mates there and wanted to have a hit with them. He was fantastic in the field, encouraged and gave advice to a few young lads. It is also great publicity for the comp and like the angry bull said it may have given the bulls the kick in the arse we needed. The crowd was also a lot larger than a normal home and away game so everyone was a winner on the weekend.. cricket, the comp, bar takings and of course the GV bulls!

Re: Barossa & Light Cricket 2014/15.

You could be right AB. Dick Mac is the one pushing the motion which is a concern considering he couldn't be trusted to feed your dog while your on holidays. It's only early stages but a roster system would be set up with your man noursey to oversee the show. Although our cricket club is a shambles it's probably something that will get everyone s act together and hopefully create some interest in the district. could even be the key in luring the great Rocky Hutton back to the bulls. As for runs on the turf wicket we would be happy to make a hundred as team the way we are going, and the form normy is in you might have to watch every game for the season to see him make an aggregate 100 Although I'm having a worse season than he is. We need you back dominating like you were several years ago AB. It was always a pleasure to bat with you!

Re: BLCA 2015/2016

I still think freeling will give the flag a fair shake. They are hitting form at the right time of the season and have guys like raed who perform in finals. South gawler will be the team to miss out on the four, they have made improvements this year but are just a little behind the top 4 sides.

Re: BLCA 2015/2016

It is going to be tight, south look on top but freeling still have batting depth.

The only guarantee this week is that the kapunda vs Nuri and Freeling vs South games will be played right up until stumps. Every second innings run and wicket will be important.

Re: BLCA 2015/2016

Unfortunately the A1 comp will lose another turf wicket if nuri go down and centrals come up.

Re: BLCA 2016-17

Do most clubs have/use a full square cover?

Also well done to the association on another state country carnival win. That makes us winners of both the under 14 and 16 competitions.
A great effort by all involved.

Re: BLCA 2016-17

A very interesting weekend ahead.

We are in a similar position to the A1s in the threes. Must win to play finals.

You would think freeling will beat sandy although if Deiner and mclean get going anything can happen. While ango play kapunda and our A1s play south.
Those games could go either way. If freeling win and GV and kapunda lose it will come down to wickets and runs for fourth spot. very interesting.

Re: Stanley Cricket Association

You are all spot on. Unfortunately country sport and more so summer sport is dying a slow death.

At Gilbert Valley we have only had Normy come down from the Stanley comp and he has even said how difficult it was to leave a club that he knew wasnt in a great position numbers wise. Many of the better players in the Stanley would do well in the Barossa comp, the issue at the moment by the sounds is depth of talent and just numbers in general. We have tried pretty hard to get players from both Auburn and Clare over several years, unfortunately many of the better cricketers are older guys who have a family and are near the end of their cricketing days. Many guys will hang on as they dont want to see their clubs die, but in honesty this is just delaying the inevitable. The Barossa comp, in my opinion, would be the best regional cricket comp in the state by a long way. 6 senior grades with an average of 8 teams per comp, junior numbers are high with a similar amount of grades as the seniors. Junior cricketers can play in the Barossa in the morning and play for a district club in the afternoon with a short drive from the Barossa/Gawler to Adelaide. The turf wickets are better than many grade decks and the comp is run by an excellent committee in a very professional manner.

If the Stanley comp was to disband it would be silly not to go south into the Barossa comp. Families are then closer to Adelaide once the game is complete if they have functions etc to attend to. Lets be honest who wants to play cricket north of Clare if you dont live up that way.

Andrew Mitchell the best cricketer to play in the Stanley over the last 20 years. Would easily have more hundreds than anyone else in that time besides perhaps Paul Meyer. Bowled a heavy ball back in the day too. Hits sixes over long off for fun.

Re: Stanley Cricket Association

Looking like a reasonably tight comp at the moment. Despite lower North it looks like any team can make the 4.
