Brett Johnson - Does anybody know more

Postby Ruck Legend » Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:59 am

This was on http://www.footygoss.com
Which SANFL club has picked him up?

Swan Districts have missed out on regaining the services of former player Brett Johnson.

Johnson, a former Hawthorn and Carlton player, has decided to take up a more lucrative offer in the SANFL.

Swans Coach Steve Turner told FootyGoss that the club had missed out on several of their recruiting targets for the upcoming season, including Aaron Edwards, Steven Armstrong, Shane Woewodin and Spaanderman.

But Turner sees an upside to missing out on players of that ilk, saying as many as six young players will be given the opportunity to cement regular places in the league team.

Turner also said Swans were still in recruiting mode, but were specific in the type of player the club was looking for.

Before Christmas he was rumoured to be heading for ........... you guessed it.... Port Magpies.

It couldn't be a lucrative offer from them, though, due to salary cap constraints.

Oh, hang on.....

How much do you reckon the Magpies would use the Power card to influence recruiting?? (Btw I'm not having a go at Port, I'd use it to if I were them)

Agree would be a very good player in the SANFL. Has the ability to be a ball magnet. A good pick up for whichever club he goes to.
