The SANFL will be setting a precedent with this one, to see whose rules we are using. The fact that it was indeed written in the book where as last year would have been just a free kick may be an indicator?

Apparently the precedent has already been set, the SANFL will indeed be penalising the late/head high tackle this season. (Refer Ciccollela v. Tribunial last week)
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Well the new 2007 Laws of Australian football law 15.4 (I think) states that reckless, negligently or intentionally making contact with the head when a plaeyrs has his head over the ball is a reportable offence.

As I said in the AFL thread last week, if you are second to the contest and you make contact to a players head that is over the ball at best you have given away a free kick, at worst keep Tuesday night free.....

Expect the fitst couple of cases to be treated harshly to set the standard for what will and wont be tolerated....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

You're pretty much right there - played with this rule on Friday night. It sucks!
It'll see more players holding their heads over the ball, pushing it around between their legs and refusing to take possession of it (the AFL with its continual fidgeting of the rules may have to ban this player tactic to keep the game flowing).
I player can now dive on the ball in front of a player coming towards them and expect a free kick every time - even thoguh it's them that's caused the situation.

However - didn't help me get any free kicks in the trial game we played on Friday night - even though I was barrelled over twice!
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.
