Based on Mals version of event the key evidence that will determine Sporns fate (based on what we have been told as umpires) is where is he looking with his eyes. If he has taken his eyes off the ball (moved his head) and looked at Cranston and prepared himself to make contact with Trevor's head he is in trouble 3-4 weeks. If he has maintained eye contact with the ball and contact to the head has been incidental/unavoidable or at worse reckless (rather than negligently or intentional) he might get off with one week.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The end determines the means
Bit like murder /attempted murder
CRANSTON got up and the game continued = 2 games for SPORN
Had CRANSTON become seriously injured perhaps = 6 games for SPORN

Still think SPORN had to do what he did, you cant stop and watch the opposition.
The MCABE/BUTCHER incident in 2006 was far worse[sorry smac]

typical of glenelg players trying to 'go down' on the opposition!

Agreed, he said it was soft like I did (ie 2 games under the new rule). You were making it out like 2 helicopters and half of the Royal Adelaide spinal unit had to be booked out for the big clown.

All good coaches tell their players to keep their feet, something the Bays ruckman failed dismally.

Goneski, one week.

Attention James Moore, the precedent was set one week before when Cicollella also got one week for an allegedly very similar incidenty.

You can't set the same precedent twice in two weeks.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

So the Bay player is not entitled to being protected for busting a gut and being first to the footy??

I look forward to standing with you at the June long weekend game at the Bay Punky and listen to you castigating every North player who "loses his feet" in order to gain position of the footy....

FFS smart footballers in 2007 are going to dive (lose their feet) to get to the footy first in order to improve their chances of getting a free kick.....

Bottom line players who make the ball their sole objective and are first to it in 2007 their chances of getting a free kick have improved dramatically!!!

Having said that, if they dive on the footy without being touched and are then tackled legally and make no effort to move it on - goneski!!!

FFS Mal! It was a hip and shoulder. I've got an ex-wife with a shorter memory than yours.

As for the current incident... I can't comment as I didn't see it.
