It gives people an excuse to complain and whinge, sometimes with justification, but life goes on and we still go back for more punishment the next week.

As for umpiring making you feel flat after wins, LOL, that's faarkin hilarious.

Hooooorrrraahhhhh! Totally agree.
Ump threads are always humourous.

I'm trying to work out when exactly umpires were considered good. As there seems to be a "back in my day" crew in every generation.

x 2

Umpire bashing it so counter productive, they have such little influence on a game its not worth worrying about, our players make 20+ x more mistakes in a game.

Love how every set of fans honestly believe guys like Richard Williams rips them off every week. The guy is amazing to be biased against both teams week after week!

Williams is still the best umpire going around; even though he is about 45 now.

Couldn't agree more. He only pays the obvious, he errs on the side of caution. If they all umpired like him we would be a lot better off.

Anybody notice last week's "rule of the week"? At Unley it was certainly paying a 25m penalty for asking exactly where the mark was or for overstepping by 15cm (6" to you old folks ;) ). Was this the case at the other games or was it a Rowston specialty?

Absolutely no feel for the game !!!!

Wonder what this week's focus will be on by the men in white with whistles

i would rather the SANFL style of umpiring to the AFL. there are no ticky touch wood frees unlike the AFL that are more technical and soft. the SANFL ump seem to umpire in the spirit of the game, sure the make mistakes but that is only in half of the crowds eyes

The "rule of the week were my words exactly"during the game. And North benefited from it but it was still rubbish. I thought that some of the umpiring last week was ridiculous
