Total SANFL 13/4/07

Watched the show tonight and enjoyed, I think there's a good mix with Paul Blandis and Ben Hook co-hosting it, Paul does a very good job on the show, I much prefer him in an analytical and interviewing capacity than commentating as he's a bit more serious with less Rex Hunt wannabee comments thrown in.
His knowledge of the happenings around the SANFL definately shone.
I'll criticise when its due and I'll give credit where it's due, well done lads, good show and I think Paul has found a niche and my congratulations for doing a good job.
Look forward to more shows.

Interesting comments. The word among a number of people in the know is some influential people generally not impressed with the show at this stage. Too dull is the most common comment. Watched it myself for a few minutes each week and turned off out of sheer boredom - radio with pictures and the new host not particularly endearing. Not many, however, seem to be watching it or that interested in it - general apathy . Will see what happens further with it.

Watched last night and didn't rate it. Not enough about in's and out's. Lack of depth with reviews and previews , only a few minutes spent on each game if that. Also thougt very disjointed.
Would much prefer last years Footy show where they would give every game a good review/preview.

I didn't think last year's shows gave much of if any previews being filmed on a Sunday morning (unless it was a Sunday game but the supporters of those 2 clubs were usually at the game when it was shown).
One thing I do prefer this year is the timeslot.
Also I think some people are comparing the new show to the end product last year, not the early product.
Give it time to settle down with 2 brand new presenters. If Im willing to give Paul Blandis a go then anyone should! :)

Didnt watch it (Friday isnt a great night to put a show on) so I cant rate it.

Personally I'd much rather watch a sunday/monday review show than a thurs/fri preview show.

Hey Wedgie, just for fun, accuse them of playing too much 80's music. Then see if Blandis starts the TV show with an 8 minute tirade of the evils of Wedgie.

Would be great TV, may even make the funny bloopers shows!

lol, I think Smithy was to blame for that one and PB heard it second hand from him.
Smithy apologised to me but weirdly enough PB never did.

Allegedly - this is not uncommon at all for the man in question. Allegedly - there has been some unease in media circles for some time at some of his methods and way of dealing with people. Allegedly - the show may find a bit of trouble getting panellists on if he remains involved.

Cheers TW, not having a big depth to pay for legal fees I always love that word "alleged".
I'd probably be PBs most disliked person in the world and yes Ive heard some bad things about him (allegedly) but Im willing to give him a go on C31 and thought he did a good job on Friday night, my initial thoughts are he and Ben complimented each other well.
I always call things as I see them which upsets some but at least people alwasy know where they stand with me.
Personally the new time slot suits me much better (especially when the SANFL don't program any Fri night games in the first 2 rounds) and at CKs request I'll throw my full support behind the show and hope it does well.

Understood about alleged - I'll take it out of this post, as it was factual - a reasonably senior club official stated to me over the weekend that they simply weren't going to watch it in its current format and wanted the old crew back on there before considering to watch again. Interesting sentiments considering that, yes, it should be seen as an ideal SANFL publicity vehicle.

And just for the record that senior club official is not me.

Have not seen the last two shows however will agree that Paul Blandis has a most outstanding knowledge of the local competition.
(That is why he was invited to be involved last year, however Paul declined due to other commitments)

BTW --- Was contacted directly by station management during the week, to advise it was incorrect of me to assert on this site that the entire crew (bar one) from 2006 was sacked from the new show.

Apparently the fact a new person has been bought in to host and everyone (bar one) involved last year had not yet been invited to be involved three shows in, is just a unfortunate coincidence and corrective steps will now be taken.

Given that is the case & it's all just a misunderstanding I & I am sure others involved in 2006, await our invites from C31 with great anticipation.
