My mate (who played league for Port) reckoned Damien Sheehan would have been nudging 250 ressies games. Anyone know the record for ressie games and can anyone find out what D Sheehan ended up on?
Going by what I can find, Sheehan played 161 reserves games and just 20 league games from about 91 through to 2001. Was a pretty good footballer and spent a year or two on Carltons list. Had Hodges, Tylor and Smith ahead of him, then Pooley, then Evans and Beinke jumped ahead. Was pretty unlucky. His brother Justin was also a pretty good player and played mainly reserves.
Mark Wade played 194 resreves games for Port from 89-03. Another who was fairly talented but just never got a game, but seemed content. Spent a couple of seasons at Sturt but came back. Played 38 league games for Port. Won a lot of awards, U17s captain, reserves captain, best and fairest, best team mans, best in finals etc.
Darren Mckay is another. Very good solid midfielder who was very unlucky not to play in a premiership. Excellent depth player. Played 85 league matches and 135 reserves matches from 1989 through to 98.
Adrian Settre is another. Ended with 121 league games and 107 reserves games. Played in 2 premierships, unlucky not to play in 1989, won an U17 BnF, was reserves Magarey Medallist in 88, won a resreves BnF in 98 and kicked 3crucial goals in the 1990 premiership win.
They are the main ones from Port since ive been following them.
